I would wire the switch to play a Hetfield "YEAHEAH"
I support the idea!
Rowan Jeffree i laughed so much at this
Rowan Jeffree needs it's own special button!
Long overdue for an OHHHH or a YEAAAHEHEEAAAHH ped
I would break the main switch so nothing happens, then wire the other one to say, "Rio, do you feel what I feel?!"
Watching Lee try to channel any sort of aggression into Metallica riffs is probably the funniest thing I've watched all day. :-)
Erik Z totaly
Lee looks so uncomfortable whenever he's playing hard rock or metal LOL. It's like the look your grandfather does when you make him listen to metal.
Unless your grandfather DOES listen to metal :D
I'd hardwire that switch to selfdestruct
Shit out of luck
I understood that reference.
The master of puppets intro triggered my ptsd from going into guitar center
Rob your an inspiration to guitarists all over the world, keep doing what your doing, keep the dreds man!! it makes you rob chapman!!
Love you bro
+Rob Chapman what's the name of that riff you played in the intro?
+Eric Aguilar Battery by Metallica
+Eric Aguilar Metallica - Battery
BTW - if you're interested, we're using the trusty Marshall JVM combo in to the Victory 4x12 cab. Oooof!
Will there be a left handed model?
What is the orange guitar behind Chappers?
It's a prs s2 hollow body I believe
***** yup that's it, wish i had one those, I've played a regular s2 before but i could only imagine what a hollow body would be like. I imagine the tone would be a bit warmer
SenorSparlez Specifically, the S2 Mira
I would wire it to a coffee machine. Coffee and thrash in the morning.
You get 3 types: up: mocha
In between: decaf
Down: Black
Yes!!! \m/
Rob Chapman When are we getting a snakebyte review? ;P
Edit: Nvm /watch?v=1TWLq3wmHOw DAT HAIR
"FRESH POTTTSSSSS!!!!!"
Homegirl1982 YES!
+Homegirl1982 OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE YOU. that is an ongoing joke in my band. ah dave grohl
The Prophecy has come true, the Captain has played metal!
"You also have to have hatred for your mother..." I get it.
That was very corny though :D
Gireesh I agree.
Mind explaining please?
+The Illuminati Rob played Am I Evil, a song by Diamond Head but Metallica covered it. Some of the lyrics to the song go "My mother was a witch, she was pretty live, thankless little b**ch, for the tears I'm crying".
The 4E Ooooh thanks man
Rob and the Captain changed their sitting places. What has this world come to?!
These old videos are great. Amazing how far Lee's playing has expanded. And Chappers you two don't hang out enough anymore. Mates for life man
Love when Lee plays heavy stuff haha awesome!
what I love best about all these videos is how relatable you guys are. you genuinely are having fun. like kids in a toy shop. love it
This was the golden era of chappers and lee, i was so happy when i heard that intro
Monday morning metal! Enjoyed this video a lot!
***** how can't you....you and rob should get the kirk Hammett and James Hetfield guitars and do a video like that
I would wire the switch for a kill switch.
I would too
+Alex Romano At least that or a smoke bomb switch ala Ace, Anything would be better.
dkyelak hell yeah haha
Umm no
I love this guitar
Do you really write your set list on the back of the guitar?
Finally the Review of Esp Ltd Iron Cross!!!!!!Thank you Rob and Andertons for doing this video!!!!!!
Just found this guitar at my local guitar store. Sounded amazing and it played so smooth. The guitar was very light which i love! I would truly recommend this guitar!!
I would have really loved if ESP did a Music Man style piezo switch for the top selector switch. I'd use it. I'm pretty sure someone makes a Tune-O-Matic with piezo's right?
The esp bb-600 does
James moved the pup selector because he kept hitting it when playing, something I do far too often when I play LP style guitars.
dimlightbulb10 sloppy playing?
I have this guitar and love it! Great neck, pick-ups, looks and its pretty light for a les paul style body.
someone might have already mentioned this: the traditional LP toggle switch has a really simple explanation, but you need to be a Hetfield geek or at least an Iron Cross geek to know...
This Snow White version is a white version of the black Iron Cross, which was massively limited at 100 pieces only. That black ESP Iron Cross was modelled after James' modified '73 Les Paul Custom. So you see how it's coming along now... let's put it this way - James' had a 73 Les Paul custom modified, apart from the iron cross and racing stripes, he also moved the toggle switch to the lower position which is probably because he played Explorers for the longest time and that's where the toggle switch usually is. But obviously on that original 73 Les Paul Custom he left the original toggle switch un-touched. And hence that first Gibson modded Iron Cross had two toggle switches, and then the black ESP Iron Cross was modelled off the original Gibson one, and this white one is a new colour of the same 'design'.
Make sense!!? :-)
I watched this video the other day and found it pretty interesting. I've always played fender but this ltd got me interested. So yesterday I traded in an old Ibanez I had and bought an iron cross and man this thing sounds fantastic. Really good build quality as well.
this guitar plays so well for a les paul style. the heel is good and its light
Nearly 200,000 subscribers! Nice one Chappers :)
I've played, seen and giged many guitars and I think out of all of them that might be my favourite the guitar in history 😍
Nothing but respect for this guys, they love metallica!!
One of the most beautiful damn guitars I've ever seen
Oh we have waited! Excited!
Love seeing the Captain taking some tips from Rob, very funny!
do a demo of the Buckethead sig les paul
I would love that,
+fippysteed pleeeeaaassse chapman. buckethead is a god
Mark Tremonti is aaaaallll about down picking and much more! His aggressive down picking are unmatchable!
Fuck yeah Tremonti is my fav guitar player, amazing riffs and technique, and a really great guy! Doing my best to learn his specific style of playing, but wow is it hard!
its hard man, but worth the effort!
I totally agree on the toggle switch thing. Bothers me more than it should:)
i love how the captain always just sits and watches rob in these videos
Love your review Guys !! I have this guitar for now 2 weeks and it's really Awesome !! I enjoy every second even if i'm not that good !! But with this i will surely improve !! Thx for your review it's help me make my choice and i've made the good one !!!
I must say, it sound HUGE. I love it!
I've been waiting for this
i liked purely for the captain playing metal
Here, Chappers. Did you know that you were on the Forbes website? Looks like you've hit the big time buddy. Don't forget the small people ; D
Yeah, they interviewed me which was quite a surprise. I'm the same dude I always have been... I love guitars, people, food and old school gaming and always will :-)
Rob Chapman
Next stop is the running for Gov' of California? I believe in the Monkey Lord.
Gaming? What games are you playing at the moment, and what platform?
Magic Waste what channel?
Watching this video made me care for you even more Rob. Great review.
Hahaha so awesome to see Capt Lee going all metal :D Love it!
love your videos rob i only just found you and subscribed today and im proud to help you get to the 200k sub milestone :)
I personally like the change of the pickup switch, I play alot up near the neck pickup and would feel more comforable with it the way Hetfield has it imo. Brilliant guitar review also.
Man, do I miss this kind of videos.
My god that guitar is stunning
Captain in the beginning sounded like CROWSCLAW. Liked it.
awesome review waited for this so long!
Battery and Puppetz were originally recorded using passive pickups, so it will always be a good sounding riff using passive pickups :-)
'you have to have hatred for your mother'
such beauty in a pun
great honest review of this guitar. Feb 25, 2023
HIT IT HARD, FOR FUCKS SAKE!
DurvalDavi I know! The Captain palm mutes like he's gonna break something!
Make the Captain test his downpicking. Make him play something like Creeping Death. I would love to watch that.
ItsFish2k blackened or one
I own this guitar. Running it through a EVH three...50 watt head. Damn!!!! What a great sound I get. I dream of a 1992 Gibson Les Paul ..Black Bty to go though the EVH. This will do for now. I will be in the top ten of the pop charts soon!!! Tone!
Guys you're making very good job on your videos.
Greetings from Poland
That was the first time I had ever heard someone referred to as a "riff writer". That sounds way more fun than being a song writer!
"you got to have hatred for your mother" who else got that joke hahah
Hahahaha yeahh :D Am I Evil??? YES I FUCKING AM !!!!
Dear mother dear fathaaa
That is pretty cool that you can wire it to do whatever.
Nice playing chappers I love your shredding mate:)
Playing master of puppets intro w/ power chords instead of the singles notes sounded good
Andertons should think about carrying FGN (Fujigen) Guitars. I know they offer direct sale stuff on their site but I'd love to hear what Rob and Lee have to say about their guitars.
Nailed the tone in my opinion!
Rob, I have kind of a request. Could you & the Captain review Chris Shifflet's Telecaster Delux? Only if it's possible of cores.
i know i'm late to the party, but i'm a huge metallica fan so i'm gonna learn ya something lol. the original iron cross was actually a '73 gibson les paul custom that james hetfield further customized himself (he plays this guitar in the st. anger rehearsals dvd). i guess he liked the placement of the pickup switch on the explorers he was always playing, so he tied the volume knobs together and replaced one of the knobs with a new pickup switch. he left the original switch there, possibly so there wouldn't be a hole, or maybe just for the classic les paul look. whether he approached esp or they approached him, i don't know, but they remade that guitar as a near exact replica of his black and gold gibson, even relicing it to look almost identical. the white iron cross came later, as a more modern version of the same guitar and with his custom pickups, as his '73 and original iron cross did not have them.
For a guitar that is NEVER used for soloing it solos pretty well
Dhruv Kotecha so you Don’t know anything about Metallica. And probably either about music or playing. th-cam.com/video/yI77kEoW6jk/w-d-xo.html
Man, I almost purchased this guitar in 2015. I am so thankful I chose against it. I chose the LTD ec-1000 and must say that it has served me better than the iron cross could. Bad ass guitar dont get me wrong but I would recommend the ec-1000 to anyone on the fence
I would wire the pick-up selector to ENGAGE fast downpicking skills!
It warms my Metallica-loving heart to see the Cap'n even trying to come over to the dark side. Well done from 'murrica!
Rob says "rooted" & I say "routed" but it's all good because we love ESP/LTD!
That old pickup selector switch is like the guitar's third nipple.
Waking up to a Chappers and Captin video :)
Almost 200,000 subs!, come on chappers
you guys are awesome, you have best job ever :-D
Yayayayayayaya been waiting for this
it has looks going for it :) super cool that its not just a "one trick pony" as you guys mentioned :D
Rob Chapman your amazing! Love your videos!
I have played the LTD Iron Cross.
Now I will say it's a brilliant guitar, touching on the same issues as Chappers here. String gauge out of the box is WAY too light. I was at first confused with the switch configuration. I also noticed it seems to be a trend that the Iron Cross is on the wrong way round too, only very slightly picky things there. But, in all, a brilliant guitar. Super comfortable to play, as it fits your waist and hugs you. The EMG Het Set really delivers, hitting those high's so much more than the 81-60 combo played by James on some of his other guitars. Cost is a pain, BUT a brilliant guitar. Shame about the price though, I will be sticking with Chibsons.
I come from the land of Rob and Caps left handed challenge. I needed some ear candy, really bad.
I will say it again: Capt Lee's Guitar playing powers triplicaye when he grabs a Les Paul -type of guitar...
the ''dummy'' switch is probably the on\off for the lights on the neck dots of Hetfield's guitar , which requires hand made optic fiber work inside the neck . Not for general public as we can see
+James Hetfield I think I remembering seeing something that said the dummy switch was the original location, but he kept hitting the switch when he didn't want to, so they moved it to where it would be more like his Explorer models.
chappers is it me or has your play gotten better? not that you were ever a bad player just seems like you've gone next level! cap always dig your blues phrasing! much love fellas
7:55 Rob is pointing out this instrument is made at the same factory as Chapman Guitars. DAT SMIRK
It's also where the PRS SE guitars are made. It was the quality and price of the PRS SE models that led Chapman to that company.
With the switch I would add in led lights to behind the pickups so that it looked mega awesome, and also do some coil splitting too.
Ha ha love the video. Asked my wife for this for my 36th Bday. Hoping I get my wish. Thanks for the info going to subscribe. From good old America. Oh and I dont need the case so I will donate to the UK.
That Battery joke made me LOL
Darn, out of all songs the Captain chooses "Am I Evil"
Like! Rob shared the guitar during video..!
The only reason the random switch is there is because the original iron cross was a gibson and he didnt like the switch up there so he routed one to the bottom and left the one on the top.
Of course, one could wire the switch up for something as mundane as a coiltap or something like that, but i think it would serve better as a control to actuate a "bring me another beer" light out something. Any who, you guys should do a review of the LP Axcess with "Life-o-sound", since I know Rob loves saying the cheesy brand monikers. You could even do a comparison of the Graphtech Ghost bridge pickup against the "Fishman Powerbridge" bridge pickup. That would be entertaining!
I think James had a guitar many years ago where the toggle switch broke, and his first signature guitar after that was supposed to an exact replica, so it came with a non-functioning toggle, and all of his signature guitars since then have the same thing. Agree it's stupid!
Awesome vid. Thanks for share.
+Rob Chapman when you play Master of Puppets the only notes in the main riff that are power chords are the D, Db, C.
if he plays it correctly he'll get a copyright strike so they do it wrong on purpose
Am I evil is not a Metallica riff
It's a diamond head riff
Metallica covered it, in Ride the Lightning and in Garage Inc
@@zachlong4560 not in ride the lightning album, is a side B from single creeping death
i always wonder if this axe would get more love if they had written esp on the headstock. its a £1000 guitar with a "budget" brand lt on it.
I might just be me, but I've never wanted someone elses signature guitar. It's their guitar, not mine. ;-)
Should've called the video "The Captain learns how to play metal" instead. Haha. Great video guys.
Nice guitar deed for you guys doing anything tonight
man I gringe everytime the intro to master of puppets is played wrong
+Rene Giantslayer it is because of copyright, they have to play it slightly different
+xX_dragonzanddungeonzmaster69_Xx yeah that deosnt make sense he even does the battery riff. that means they could sue just for playing half the riff right haha
xX_dragonzanddungeonzmaster69_Xx oh is it? rob said in a video(i dont know which) that he plays every riff slightly different
+xX_dragonzanddungeonzmaster69_Xx TH-cam has a system that scans uploaded audio for matches against copyright songs, and either removes the audio, adds a link to iTunes etc asking people to buy the song, or does nothing, depending on what the copyright holder has set. It's a pain, and they avoid it by playing all the riffs wrong. Apparently!
What do you mean every time you see an kid who thinks he's good in guitar centre?
Nice guitar. I really wish you would have dialed in some different amp settings so we could have gotten a good idea of how versatile it is.
