i got the 10 million student project version. weird thing is when i went past my 100GB 'limit' it didn't stop. this happened until yesterday when it asked me to sign-in. I think i used about 1TB till it stopped working. It might just be down so ill keep this posted. I got mine in October of 2022

If you sign into the admin page (information on the sticker on the device under the battery) you can mark the message as read and that will fix that, as for the arrows light it’s supposed to do that since it indicates data being used/sent through the device. Do me a favor and go to speedtest.com while connected to the device and tell me what the results are and I can help you with the speed issue.
Just got this one from Metro, and right out the gate it has a bad battery. Ain't charging at all so I'll have to make a trip to the store again to either get a replacement battery or a whole new device. Other than that, it worked great.
Yeah that sucks but at the same time there’s gonna be some that don’t work properly, you can always fight for a bill credit of some sort for the hassle of having to do all of that. If you get a replacement test it in store rather then at home.
We just got ours today. Question. Am I able to use this hotspot as my primary Wi-Fi for the house? All we do is stream and use the internet from time to time. Also would like to connect my Roku to this device. I want to cancel my AT&T internet which is 70$ a month for internet only. This seams to be the cheaper option
Hey there! You can but I have a better solution for you, T-Mobile actually has there own home internet solution powered by LTE and 5G (depending on what’s available in your location). I would highly suggest checking this out as the hotspot data plan would probably be around $60-70 for unlimited and their home internet would be $50/month. They ship out a modem/router combo and all you have to do is plug it in, there’s very minimal set up. 😂😂 You wouldn’t believe how dirty the Mac screen gets, I didn’t realize how much it needed cleaned before I made this video, I didn’t think it was going to blow up the way it did so I didn’t worry about it. I’ve tried cleaning the Mac screen with just about everything in the book and each time it wouldn’t fully come clean unless I worked on it for 20-30 minutes. I clean it weekly and don’t touch my screen so I’m honestly not sure how it gets this dirty. I had to buy this specific cleaner for it and finally it worked with no problems. Any other cleaner I tried never got the fingerprints off. The hotspot device on the other hand made no sense to clean at any point during creating this since it was just going to happen again the second I touch it.
This is actually for a different program, this is for people who want to try T-Mobile before they buy for 30 days or 30GB. The student program gives you 100GB free per year for 5 years, I would guess that you could connect any device you want to the student version.
That is most likely just the website you're on or your device is having a software glitch. This usually happens on Samsung devices. Have you changed any of the default settings for wifi name and password?
I just got mine today and the lights show up as red. However I swear it was working for the first few minutes. It shows on website I have coverage here in western nebraska.

It varies from location to location but in my experience T-Mobile hasn’t been so great on the road, in cities it’s extremely fast but the second you leave the city the connection drops in and out. In my experience, I go miles without a connection and I end up connecting to 2G (EDGE) a couple times. Luckily though, it’s a trial and it’s free so I say try it out and see for yourself! :)

mine was working and it died. whenever I charge it and the Icon just lights up and the only way I can get it to light up at all is if it's on the charger.

Mine is doing the same. Mine won't charge. When I put it on charge it looks like it's charging for a second then all the lights flash and turn blue. That's why I'm on here, trying to figure out how to fix it.
When it turns on it should show blue / white lights and then it should turn colors over a time period of a couple minutes, are you able to connect to it at all?

Check the SIM card, reinsert it and see if that fixes it. If not, contact T-Mobile so they can send out a new device. I’ve seen a number of issues with these popping up recently.
If you have had the device for 2 months then your service would no longer be active, and yes that page would be the admin page, the username and password is under the battery in the device on a sticker.
Unfortunately, this has been a problem with a lot of the t-mobile devices lately. Double check to make sure that the battery is placed in correctly and if that doesn’t help then you’ll have to contact T-Mobile :/
@@TheDomainS hey sorry for responding late turns out when it’s being charged it’s left on so what needs to be done is when it’s fully charged it has to be removed from charging if not it will constantly loose charge so then just turn it off that was my problem it also does not charge with any other charger for me only the one it comes with

The battery light should be the only light on when you plug it in, for some reason people have been having a lot off issues with these devices recently. Even if it’s acting weird when you plug it in it’s still probably charging.

@@dorrofrm3003 Most devices have overcharge protection so this would be highly unlikely. There have been a lot of issues with these devices lately and many people have had to return them and get new ones by contacting T-Mobile Customer Support. I would definitely recommend going through all of the troubleshooting steps first. - Take the battery out and reinsert it - Make sure the SIM is installed properly - Maybe try taking the battery out and running it off of the cable and see if that makes a difference - If you are able to connect to it then login to the admin page and see if you can update the firmware on the device
I changed my password and wifi name now its not connecting or even showing up in the wifi selections what do I do? I tried calling tmobile the representative I spoke with had no clue what I was talking about .
@@TheDomainS No I didn't I ended up finding the correct number and the representative told me that was a common problem people who changed the wifi name & passwords were having and I had to reset the box to its default name & password
I have only seen this issue with people inserting these type of sim cards into their phones, I did some research and was unable to find anything on it :/ I tried and looked around but couldn’t get an answer, my recommendation would be too contact T-Mobile and they will most likely send out a new sim card or device. Hey there! You’re not alone, a bunch of people have been having this issue recently and nothing seems to fix it. Contact T-Mobile’s support line and they should be able to fix it from there.
Why doesn't T-Mobile just create an App for the Hotspot so its easier to Change Settings access devices connections so it can be more Easier than typing the IP everytime etc !!!!!! @T-Mobile
For me, typing in the IP address is pretty convenient especially since your browser saves it after you type it in enough times but I have an idea that will sort of turn it into an app if you are intrested. You could set the IP to have a shortcut on your desktop screen or phone screen. If you did that all you would have to do is click or tap on it and it would take you right there, it would be just like an app (or at least as close as you could get). I can also help you with it if needed.
Sadly no. I’ve tried to get mine unlocked before but it doesn’t work. You would need the Franklin T9 model. There’s tons of bypasses online, you can also buy a bypassed version of the T9.

Ah i see, you should be able to connect the hotspot the a computer and tether it as a wired internet connection then you should hopefully be able to access the admin page from there.
Is it faster and more reliable than using a phone as a hotspot? I already have a T-Mobile data plan on my phone, so unless this is faster and more reliable I won't get it.
Well yes and no, since this is an LTE only hotspot then your phone hotspot would probably be quicker (depending on the phone) if you were in a 5G area, but say that you were in an area with only a couple bars of LTE service then the hotspot would most likely be faster. Having a device saves your phones hotspot data and since it’s a separate device it doesn’t drain your phone battery. Some people (like me) would rather have a separate device to connect all of my camera equipment too rather then running it off of my phone. Although your phone hotspot would work just fine if you were just connecting a few devices at a time.
Nope cause mine does the same you’re gonna just need a new battery, only thing that helped was leaving it off for a couple days then when I plugged it back in that’s when it turned on and stayed on
It gives you 30 GB or 30 days. The device is just set to show as 100 GB in the settings, you can always change it the whatever number you want as it’s just a simple data counter. I would recommend setting it to 30GB since you get 30GB with the trial.
@@TheDomainS after using it for a day it shut off while I was using and haven’t been able to turn it back on since when I plug in 2 of the lights blink when I hold down power button then just shuts off I left on charger all day still nothing it’s not dead
Try taking the battery out and running it right off of the charger and see if that makes any kind of difference. I know it’s inconvenient but you should try basic troubleshooting first before anything else.
Hold on the power button on the front end of the device until all of the lights turn off then let go, after a few seconds repeat this until you see the lights turn on.
So sorry I am just now seeing this, double check and make sure that you’re connected to the hotspot wifi and not any other wifi, I know it sounds stupid but you always gotta start with the basics, after that check that you entered the correct IP address for the admin page

I tried to turn on my old T-Mobile device to give you step by step instructions but for some reason the admin page refused to do anything. I logged in using the url and then changed the password and tried switching it to 5k and not cannot use the password to use the log into the device I need help
The IP would be the only way, double check that you’re typing it correctly and if that still doesn’t work try restarting everything and switching your web browser.

Hey there! Those results are awesome! You can get a SIM card and keep using the device (although they will ship out a much better one). The only thing that sucks is that their plans are like 50GB for $50 a month which is pretty pricy, I was considering about getting one until I heard that. I know they have hotspots for phones which are much cheaper of course, but I want my own device and battery, it makes it feel special. Plus you always get better upload speeds with a physical stand alone hotspot. If you have another address then the one you used to ship your device then it is possible to get 2 different ones, you can even get another device just for fun but the rule is one per household so If you have 2 addresses then your good, I have 2 so I was able to snag 2 devices from them but I let my best friend have the other one because at the time she needed it since her phones were taken lol. Remember it's 30 days or 30 GB of data used then it will expire, I was so upset that I only used about 10 or 15GB since a 30 GB plan is like $30 so I wasted a lot of data that was worth some money unfortunately. I appreciate your comment, I always love getting these types of comments where I can share my personal experience as well.

This is different then the free connectivity plan for students, this is a hotspot trial. Just contact T-Mobile support and they’ll help you get everything setup.

Thank you for letting me know about that, I’ve actually never heard about that program. I just did some research on it and it seems that they give 100GB of data probably per year. It does say that you’ll have it for 5 years and in order to quality you can have any of these programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) • Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) • Medicaid • Head Start • Foster youth, migrant homeless, or runaway youth.
The setting in on the admin page, probably towards the bottom. I would tell you exactly where it’s at but I don’t have the device with me at the moment.
Oh boy! This would be a situation where you would have to contact them in order to get it resolved. (Assuming that you’re talking about the device not connecting to a service tower)

speeds are limited with the test drive device, i ditched verizon because the speeds were less then 1 mbps and so slow imessage wouldn’t even work and it was horrible the only reason i got it for a couple of months was because of the 5G UW band but when i went back home there was barely any 5G in my city when t-mobile and at&t have full 5G and right outside my house with verizon i got 0.13 mbps (due to the way my house is built) and with t-mobile i get 580 mbps, t-mobile and verizon have the worst coverage and at&t has the best but god damn t-mobiles 5G is absolutely insane
I think T-Mobile used to be trash.. now they are the fastest 5G carrier in my city with speeds of about 600 Mbps and at least 180 everywhere you go although their coverage lacks, i can’t even send imessages through verizon half the time but verizon really is for the other side of the state lmao and AT&T is amazing everywhere
@@tonyvega6697 Okay, check to make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly. Try taking it out and then put it back in. Also, make sure you are in a T-Mobile coverage area by using: www.t-mobile.com/coverage/coverage-map
This could be one of two things, the area you’re in might have poor, slow, or congested service, or you’re downloading larger files and hitting the 20mbps cap. The trial device limits both your download and upload speed to around 20mbps (2MB/s) Your download and upload speeds may be much higher if you decided to pay for a plan and use a different device. If it’s so slow to the point where websites are taking over 15 seconds to load then it is most likely just the area you’re in.

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to reset the admin password if you forgot it, but you can reset the WiFi password by logging into the admin page and navigating to the WiFi settings.

If you only got 5GB then watching TH-cam videos will burn through but SUPER quick, my daily internet usage is around 100-200GB, now of course i’m doing way more then watching TH-cam videos but data flys by super quick.
There have been a lot of problems with these devices lately, try leaving it plugged in for a few hours and see if that works and try taking the battery out and putting it back in. Unfortunately, most times you have to contact T-Mobile and they will send out a new device.

Check to make sure the SIM card is inserted properly and that you’re in a coverage area. If neither of those are the issue, contact T-Mobile.

It varies from location to location but in my experience T-Mobile hasn’t been so great on the road, in cities it’s extremely fast but the second you leave the city the connection drops in and out. In my experience, I go miles without a connection and I end up connecting to 2G (EDGE) a couple times. Luckily though, it’s a trial and it’s free so I say try it out and see for yourself! :)

Unfortunately it is locked to T-Mobile and it’s restricted to T-Mobile or NVMO carriers that run off of T-Mobile‘s network, I tried getting it unlocked but they said since it was only a test drive a device that they would not unlock it :(

mine was working and it died. whenever I charge it and the Icon just lights up and the only way I can get it to light up at all is if it's on the charger.

If you have had the device for 2 months then your service would no longer be active, and yes that page would be the admin page, the username and password is under the battery in the device on a sticker.

Unfortunately, this has been a problem with a lot of the t-mobile devices lately. Double check to make sure that the battery is placed in correctly and if that doesn’t help then you’ll have to contact T-Mobile :/

The battery light should be the only light on when you plug it in, for some reason people have been having a lot off issues with these devices recently. Even if it’s acting weird when you plug it in it’s still probably charging.
@@TheDomainS is it possible to have overcharged it? Mine comes on with a red battery after being charged all night and cuts off after a few seconds and won’t stay on any longer
@@dorrofrm3003 Most devices have overcharge protection so this would be highly unlikely. There have been a lot of issues with these devices lately and many people have had to return them and get new ones by contacting T-Mobile Customer Support.
I would definitely recommend going through all of the troubleshooting steps first.
- Take the battery out and reinsert it
- Make sure the SIM is installed properly
- Maybe try taking the battery out and running it off of the cable and see if that makes a difference
- If you are able to connect to it then login to the admin page and see if you can update the firmware on the device

@@TheDomainS No I didn't I ended up finding the correct number and the representative told me that was a common problem people who changed the wifi name & passwords were having and I had to reset the box to its default name & password

I have only seen this issue with people inserting these type of sim cards into their phones, I did some research and was unable to find anything on it :/

Why doesn't T-Mobile just create an App for the Hotspot so its easier to Change Settings access devices connections so it can be more Easier than typing the IP everytime etc !!!!!! @T-Mobile
For me, typing in the IP address is pretty convenient especially since your browser saves it after you type it in enough times but I have an idea that will sort of turn it into an app if you are intrested. You could set the IP to have a shortcut on your desktop screen or phone screen. If you did that all you would have to do is click or tap on it and it would take you right there, it would be just like an app (or at least as close as you could get). I can also help you with it if needed.

Sadly no. I’ve tried to get mine unlocked before but it doesn’t work. You would need the Franklin T9 model. There’s tons of bypasses online, you can also buy a bypassed version of the T9.

Hey there! Double check that the signal bars on the device are showing up as either yellow or green and not red.
Is it faster and more reliable than using a phone as a hotspot? I already have a T-Mobile data plan on my phone, so unless this is faster and more reliable I won't get it.
Well yes and no, since this is an LTE only hotspot then your phone hotspot would probably be quicker (depending on the phone) if you were in a 5G area, but say that you were in an area with only a couple bars of LTE service then the hotspot would most likely be faster. Having a device saves your phones hotspot data and since it’s a separate device it doesn’t drain your phone battery. Some people (like me) would rather have a separate device to connect all of my camera equipment too rather then running it off of my phone. Although your phone hotspot would work just fine if you were just connecting a few devices at a time.
Mine won’t turn on unless it’s plugged up but even then it keeps turning on and off
Try letting it charge for around 6 hours and see if it holds a charge
Nope cause mine does the same you’re gonna just need a new battery, only thing that helped was leaving it off for a couple days then when I plugged it back in that’s when it turned on and stayed on

It gives you 30 GB or 30 days. The device is just set to show as 100 GB in the settings, you can always change it the whatever number you want as it’s just a simple data counter. I would recommend setting it to 30GB since you get 30GB with the trial.
@@TheDomainS after using it for a day it shut off while I was using and haven’t been able to turn it back on since when I plug in 2 of the lights blink when I hold down power button then just shuts off I left on charger all day still nothing it’s not dead
Try taking the battery out and running it right off of the charger and see if that makes any kind of difference. I know it’s inconvenient but you should try basic troubleshooting first before anything else.

Okay got it, start with some basics, try restarting the device, reinserting the battery, etc.

Hold on the power button on the front end of the device until all of the lights turn off then let go, after a few seconds repeat this until you see the lights turn on.

So sorry I am just now seeing this, double check and make sure that you’re connected to the hotspot wifi and not any other wifi, I know it sounds stupid but you always gotta start with the basics, after that check that you entered the correct IP address for the admin page

I tried to turn on my old T-Mobile device to give you step by step instructions but for some reason the admin page refused to do anything. When I log into my admin page it shows the data usage counter and connected devices on the home page. I used my other video for reference to this.

How do you get into the web ui the ip doesn’t load
The IP would be the only way, double check that you’re typing it correctly and if that still doesn’t work try restarting everything and switching your web browser.
I tried putting the SIM card in my Metro by T-Mobile unlocked phone it did not work,bummer oh well as long as it works as a Hot Spot.

Hey there! Those results are awesome! You can get a SIM card and keep using the device (although they will ship out a much better one). The only thing that sucks is that their plans are like 50GB for $50 a month which is pretty pricy, I was considering about getting one until I heard that. I know they have hotspots for phones which are much cheaper of course, but I want my own device and battery, it makes it feel special. Plus you always get better upload speeds with a physical stand alone hotspot. If you have another address then the one you used to ship your device then it is possible to get 2 different ones, you can even get another device just for fun but the rule is one per household so If you have 2 addresses then your good, I have 2 so I was able to snag 2 devices from them but I let my best friend have the other one because at the time she needed it since her phones were taken lol. Remember it's 30 days or 30 GB of data used then it will expire, I was so upset that I only used about 10 or 15GB since a 30 GB plan is like $30 so I wasted a lot of data that was worth some money unfortunately. I appreciate your comment, I always love getting these types of comments where I can share my personal experience as well.

This is different then the free connectivity plan for students, this is a hotspot trial. Just contact T-Mobile support and they’ll help you get everything setup.

Thank you for letting me know about that, I’ve actually never heard about that program. I just did some research on it and it seems that they give 100GB of data probably per year. It does say that you’ll have it for 5 years and in order to quality you can have any of these programs:
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
• Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
• Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
• Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
• Medicaid
• Head Start

This means that you have unread messages from T-Mobile (they always send these out)
You can read them by logging into the admin page and finding the messages section.

speeds are limited with the test drive device, i ditched verizon because the speeds were less then 1 mbps and so slow imessage wouldn’t even work and it was horrible the only reason i got it for a couple of months was because of the 5G UW band but when i went back home there was barely any 5G in my city when t-mobile and at&t have full 5G and right outside my house with verizon i got 0.13 mbps (due to the way my house is built) and with t-mobile i get 580 mbps, t-mobile and verizon have the worst coverage and at&t has the best but god damn t-mobiles 5G is absolutely insane

I think T-Mobile used to be trash.. now they are the fastest 5G carrier in my city with speeds of about 600 Mbps and at least 180 everywhere you go although their coverage lacks, i can’t even send imessages through verizon half the time but verizon really is for the other side of the state lmao and AT&T is amazing everywhere

I’ve followed all the directions and when I’m trying to use it it says it’s connected but it’s slow.
This could be one of two things, the area you’re in might have poor, slow, or congested service, or you’re downloading larger files and hitting the 20mbps cap. The trial device limits both your download and upload speed to around 20mbps (2MB/s)
Your download and upload speeds may be much higher if you decided to pay for a plan and use a different device.
If it’s so slow to the point where websites are taking over 15 seconds to load then it is most likely just the area you’re in.

How do you reset the password if you forgot it?
To the best of my knowledge there is no way to reset the admin password if you forgot it, but you can reset the WiFi password by logging into the admin page and navigating to the WiFi settings.

How do you reset it because it’s charged but it doesn’t want to turn on?
There should be a pinhole on the device under the battery possibly to reset it.

i just got this device and 5gb plan i think.
it already ran out in one day watching youtube videos.

the same device work gave me would work the whole month but this one for my personal use ran out so fast.

If you only got 5GB then watching TH-cam videos will burn through but SUPER quick, my daily internet usage is around 100-200GB, now of course i’m doing way more then watching TH-cam videos but data flys by super quick.
What do u do when it’s not charging
There have been a lot of problems with these devices lately, try leaving it plugged in for a few hours and see if that works and try taking the battery out and putting it back in. Unfortunately, most times you have to contact T-Mobile and they will send out a new device.
how did you set up 5ghz
On the admin page there is an option to pick between 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ.

Take out the battery and look at the back of the device, you will see a sticker with all of the information on it. :)
