This is THE best plane spotting footage I've ever seen. Hats off to you for capturing from that vantage point and at dusk with SFO's bright terminals lighting these birds up. Simply beautiful.
I was a flight attendant for many years for NorthWest Airlines. I took the safety part of my job very seriously. I was very disturbed to see a lot of non US aircraft taking off (Lufthansa A340) at night with full cabin lighting on! If you notice most of the US planes like United or Hawaiian have all their cabin lights turned off during night take off and landings at night. This is a very important safety protocol. Turning cabin lights off or dimming the lights in the cabin acclimates passengers and crews eyes to the dark. If there is an emergency or accident (like running off the runway) and an evacuation is needed, passengers will have their eyes used to darkness and hopefully safely get out of the plane in 90 seconds. Those emergency lights will not always work after an impact, I know....I have been in a few accidents w/ evacuations. If you have full cabin lights on and they suddenly go dark due to an accident, you are putting passengers at risk because they will be temporarily blind while trying to jump off a plane in a pitch dark condition. I know this sounds unfounded by people who are not in the industry or don't fly often but, it is just plain (pardon the pun) common sense to turn those cabin light off!
m5zealot that makes absolute senses to me. I’ve never been on an US carriers flight when they haven’t at least dimmed the cabin lights during a night takeoff or landing.
right! I noticed that too in this video, but this protocole is also followed by non us carriers though, I fly with Air France and they always dim the lights.
Excellent San Francisco Plane Spotting. :) Evening is a great time as there is the movement, arrival and departure of the United 777s, 787s, Qantas 747s, Air New Zealand 777s and many others like them.
Stunning night-time takeoffs surrounded by all those lights! Love the majority of the liveries I saw here. Love the big jets. Favs were the Airbus A340 & the Boeing 747, soooo powerful!
SFO is one of the best airports to watch video takeoffs and landings. The Lufthanser plane at the beginning is simply awesome and I love the illumination of the Hawaiian Airlines tail logo and the same for the Qantas flying kangaroo. ✈️✈️✈️👍😎
Stunning beauty....! Big planes cause great sensations ! San Francisco Airport works like a Swiss watch ( this is not an advertisement ) : otherwise it is not possible in aviation ! I regret not having seen this night sight before... Thank You so much dear HD Melbourne Aviation for Your decent and necessary job ! I appreciate it forever !
You can say that again... I live close to the San Francisco airport and we would drive over the San Matteo Bridge (and sometimes spot a plane ✈️ or two coming in from L.A. overhead) and then drive to the airport and watch those wonderful planes coming in or taking off. I don’t know what it is but there is something about planes that excites me and I am amazed how these huge jets can take off so effortlessly.
@@annieh.8175 That's so wonderful to know Annie! SFO has some of the best planes coming to it, plus its runways are so beautiful that they are a global icon. Air India operates its longest flight to SFO only! :)
SFO is my home airport. She looks absolutely breathtaking in this video! Of course the planes are the stars of the video but SFO makes for a beautiful backdrop. Strong work!
This is probably one of the top 3 plane spotting videos I've ever seen. What a spectacular setting, the lighting is perfect, the camera work so professional. Thank you for sharing, you are seriously one of the top contributors for aviation enthusiasts everywhere. I love your videos.
Amazing footage! Thanks for capturing all the late night action at SFO, which is pretty hard to come across on TH-cam. It's also the time with the most diverse international departures.
Bravo!!!!! Thank you so much for going to the trouble to get the video, edit, and post. Worth every second of viewing!!! Not ruined by stupid music that so many people put in their videos (I really dislike that). But this is my "home" airport and you captured it so well. The nightly Hawaiian arrivals, the Air India departure, the A340-600 Lufty was just incredible. Wow you do such nice work, thank you again!
You went on the right night for Air India. That particular flight only goes 3x/week. Also looked like a pretty light takeoff considering the fuel on board for a 16 hour trip
Beautiful footage! Anyone else notice the grey instead of white in between the cockpit windows of the LH A340 at the beginning? Makes it look a bit like it’s wearing the A350 eyemask
I didn't know "French Bee" up to five minutes ago, so I simply looked them up and now I know that the A350 has a long way down to Papeete from Orly via SFO, wow! Also, I always get kind of a sentimental feeling when I see "Oceanian" airlines anywhere in the world. You always know they have a long trip ahead of them no matter where they fly from. I'm always like "Say Hi to my friends Down Under and have a safe flight!"
I love watching these planes taking off and landing, 9/11 just mess up how we used to go to the airport and just watches planes landing and taking off, we didn’t even have to have anyone flying in or going anywhere to see all of this, damn I miss that.
Awesome video man! Love the night shots! Really considering this Panasonic Camcorder for its capabilities, especially at night, now after watching your video. Keep up the awesome work!
Congratulations¡¡¡¡ Ilike so much the video.Clear image, very sharped, good color in the night. wonderful aircraft. I lieke the detail of landing train. As very few in the wed. Of course hand up.Thank you¡¡¡¡
Lufthansa A340 was the most unique aircraft. Those who get an opportunity to travel in A340s should do at the earliest as they may well not be in the skies in next couple of years or so. Livery of Air India was the best.
The A340-600 looked like more like a sleek ship ,slim and long.Sad to see it being retired ; death of the four engine config.Take-off was non-ending like a pencil cutting thru the night.Better luck to the A350 , another beauty.
You did a stunning job recording this. The quality is extreme top notch, almost as if it was done by a professional studio. Absolutely beautiful, keep up the good work.
This is THE best plane spotting footage I've ever seen. Hats off to you for capturing from that vantage point and at dusk with SFO's bright terminals lighting these birds up. Simply beautiful.
Omg the Qantas at 7:30 and 7:40, absolutely gorgeous. Definitely like a graceful bird climbing into the sky 😀
The A340-600 is such a long plane. It's one of my favorite aircraft along with the 744. 👍

Greenid Guy not only is carriers do that lol pretty much every airline nowadays dimms the lights
G G based on this video there are several that don’t.
right! I noticed that too in this video, but this protocole is also followed by non us carriers though, I fly with Air France and they always dim the lights.
pff. maybe they are reading)))
14 dislikes? Who on earth would choose to watch this video and then give it a thumbs-down? Both the videography and content are top-notch.
audio kind sucks though.. he needs to put a guard around the mic to stop the wind from blowing into it
That number is up to 23. Why? I don't know. Yeah, the camera mic had wind noise, overall, very nice spotting.
Never underestimate the motives of stupid people.
we never know how stupid ppl lives ..
Lots of idiots and bad people so what ever you do you always get like and dislike.
Who could anyone not like this video? Timing, quality, brightness and content is just perfect.
Yay Lufthansa
My home Carrier 🇩🇪✈😍
I like the A340
Excellent San Francisco Plane Spotting. :) Evening is a great time as there is the movement, arrival and departure of the United 777s, 787s, Qantas 747s, Air New Zealand 777s and many others like them.
Absolutely fantastic footage! Thank you! I could sit and watch SFO arrivals and departures all day/night.
Qantas 747 looked so majestic taking off will be a sad day when they get retired.

That A346 is incredible.
SFO is one of the best airports to watch video takeoffs and landings. The Lufthanser plane at the beginning is simply awesome and I love the illumination of the Hawaiian Airlines tail logo and the same for the Qantas flying kangaroo. ✈️✈️✈️👍😎
Urgh, the A346 really is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever created.
It really is, shame they’re dropping like flies
That A340-600 is just so god damn beautiful! I hope lufthansa will still keep it a few years. I love flying on it and seeing it in the world.
4:44 is such a cool view. All the planes flying like a fleet
That was wonderful! Never seen night footage like this. The Lufthansa A340-600 especially was amazing. What a sleek aircraft!
Stunning beauty....!

Thank You so much dear HD Melbourne Aviation for Your decent and necessary job !
I appreciate it forever !
Great shot of the United 777.....you can actually see inside the cabin. 5:40 and have the blue lights on during takeoff roll. Very nice
When my girls were little, we’d go to SFO at night to watch the awesome jets take off, so much fun - lol -
one is never old enough to stop watching jets take off! :)

Gorgeous footage! The black sky lends an elegance to these awesome machines. I've been on that QANTAS flight out of SFO, it's a great flight!
That quality is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many BEAUTIFUL aircraft !
More good stuff from Melbourne. Love that you're getting so much light on the aircraft when airborne. SFO is bright!.
SFO is my home airport. She looks absolutely breathtaking in this video! Of course the planes are the stars of the video but SFO makes for a beautiful backdrop. Strong work!

A346 has beautiful proportions. I wish more of them were around.
Amazing footage! Thanks for capturing all the late night action at SFO, which is pretty hard to come across on TH-cam. It's also the time with the most diverse international departures.

Brilliant video mate. Every time I am amazed how the 787 and A350 are quiet. Quiet and beautiful.
787 ain't quiet when the RAT is deployed lol. It's like you're standing next to a Cessna. Except it's a 787 3000ft above you.
Damn one the best i've seen!! You can see the inside of each plane taking off, even the tv screens!!!
I really ,enjoyed that and the pretty,lights.too,thank.you.
