Heavies' Party: Miami International Airport Plane Spotting 08/19 (ATC/Flight Information)

Thank you for watching another plane spotting video! These footages were taken during a recent trip to Miami, FL, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Miami airport (MIA) is the major gateway to South/Central America and Europe. It is one of the best airports in US for plane spotting and photography for the following reasons:
1. A great variety of international carriers and aircrafts, more than 25 foreign airlines have regularly scheduled operations with heavy wide-body aircrafts.
2. American Airlines operates its 5th biggest hub here, with plenty of 777s/767s.
3. Runway and wind patterns are simple. East wind is more common in any season. Flights from South America tend to land on 9; Flights from Europe tend to land on 12, except Lufthansa A380 which usually lands on 9.
4. Relocating between the spotting locations at 9 and 12 only takes a 5-minute drive. Last minute runway changes won't make you miss the shot.
5. Nearly all heavy aircrafts land between 14:00 to sunset. It only takes a few hours to get a shot of everything, less pain more gain.
6. Both landing runways have a good spotting location on the south side, which means you don't have to deal with backlit.

The ATC and flight information make it so much better

I love how you put in the age of the planes! That 787 at the end was a very young plane! Great viewing point & coverage!
Ian Wildon the 787 rolled out in 2009 and entered service with ANA in 2011 first and air europa is no where near the first 787 customer and 787s are still being made till today so no not 19 years old

Man i dont know what is it about the A380 but i fucking love that plane, maybe the wingspan + the 4 trent 900 + Double decker makes it look so big and majestic and a beast, 747 is the Queen of the sky but A380 is the King of the skies.

I've seen a LOT of plane spotting vids. This is the best one. All heavies, awesome variety of int'l liveries, tower chatter, and indiv. aircraft info on screen. Bravo.

A330smare lighter than for say a 777. The gears are also lighter which makes the aircraft glide on 4 wheels for a longer.

I've watch many spotting videos, but I'm so glad I stumbled across this one. I'll give this 5 stars and say it should be used as a perfect example oh how to create this type of content. No twitchy zoom-fingers, and excellent image quality. Put it up on my 55in OLED tv and it was like I was looking out of a window. Fantastic work and many thanks for sharing. Cheers. Brian.

Think of air as really thin water, and think of these planes as submarines.

There were some 767's, 772's, 773's, 787's and even A380's, of plenty different airlines. Enough diversity if you ask me

7:35 the Alitalia pilots didn't acknowledge their landing clearance.
Disregarding that, do you think that there are some Ferraris/Lamborghinis in the cargo hold of that Alitalia A330?

The Global FS Pilot I think he did acknowledge the clearance, it’s that the scanner may not have picked it up or it was cut out in editing.

I spent a good time in my late teens and early twenties living in Miami Beach. In the year 2002 I used to go and watch airplanes take off and land right here at this very spot while dreaming of becoming a pilot. As an Argentinian immigrant, I faced many challenges. Fast forward 20 years I'm a pilot at Southwest Airlines. The American Dream is still alive for those of us who are willing to fight for our dreams. Never give.

True. I guess west coast is kind of far away from both Asia-Paicific and Europe so they are not in 330's range, or too far to make 330 profitable.
Tropospherean I’ve seen a couple at SFO. I think China Eastern flys one to SFO. But they are about to be phased out soon. And I think I’ve seen Etihad at LAX.
Also Hawaii Airlines flies to a lot of west coast cities with 330.

The thing is that european airlines dont use that often a A330 to west coast because it isn't that profitable as a triple 7

That is not "weak" turbulence!,it is actually "wake" turbulence which is generated by an aircraft in its behind.It is a kind of disturbance formed in the air when an aircraft is passed.

They have a nice in-airport hotel too. Only breakfast is superexpensive and not included (maybe depending on room type, I just booked the cheapest as I didn't want to drive to Ft. Lauderdale with a jetlag and in the dark. Best decision I could've made and for me, well worth the price for not having to hassle with taxis etc.)

Those 777-300ERs have the GE90 engines, the most powerful in use today. The fan housing is wider than a 737 fuselage.

My all time favorite airplane is the 747, but now seeing the 380, I may have to have 2 favorites! I could sit for hours watching these big boys land but thankfully we have you to do this!
