    The hardest part to find and replace on any town car is the front driver door panel. Treat that front driver side door panel with care.

      All the interior parts need treatment with respect. People tend to be rough and abusive. The door pulls, for example. The door closes almost fully on its own momentum and folks will still pull hard on that leather strap even when the door is already shut tight and that breaks off the end caps and loosens the 2 screws. Also the comparment lids dont need to be slammed hard, they are fragile. And the trunk lid has a self locking mechanism so it does not need to be slammed down and pressed in like on a '55 Chevy Bel Air.

    The door panels are cheap feeling and looking. The driver pull strap always becomes loose and I HATE the plastic door handles. It's something you touch all the time and they feel cheap and fragile. Before this generation they were metal and felt a lot nicer. The '95-'97 Town Car has much richer feeling door panels. '95-'97 also has more room in every direction, higher and thicker seats, thicker carpeting

    I hear ya man about the Door Pull Strap, that on mine seems a little fragile and I fear it may come off or get dirty, so I go very easy with it so I can preserve it. Other than that yes it is hard to find things wrong with these cars, they are THAT GOOD. :) Thanks....

    The only complaint I have with this generation or body style is the gas mileage is not as good and it doesn't have the power that my 1996 Lincoln Town Car had! I think my 1996 was my favorite Lincoln of all! But I do love my 2006 Signature Limited! My first was a 1985 Signature Series with the 5.0 or 302 engine. I really hate that they don't make these anymore!!! I guess they just didn't make much money on them because they are so reliable! They had to start making junk so they could make more money on servicing them! SAD!

    • @GetThisNick
      @GetThisNick  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve heard stuff like that in the past as well, that people are convinced that car manufacturers started to make their vehicles a little less reliable overtime to generate more revenue long term with parts and service. I guess the saying of “They don’t make ‘em like they used to” holds true!

    • @RichardWentzel-m2g

      Yeah my 94 had more unf I think. I'm betting a less restricted intake and tune will get it closer to the power of the 94. Which I don't understand cuz it's supposed to have 30 more hp.

  • @viivcreations9161

    People shouldn't complain about the MPG on this beast. This car is actually BIGGER than a Tahoe (look it up) and even with dated tech it still gets insane efficient MPG for how huge and heavy it is.

    The things you mentioned fall into the preference category in my opinion. Your sunglasses could be put into that door console you don’t use. And I think you’ll eventually get used to the seat position as time goes on and you’ve owned the car a little longer; it appears that you have ample enough leg room.
    Thanks for posting your pros and cons videos. I enjoy them, and I love your car!🥰♥️👏🏼👍🏼

  • @johncheek5900
    @johncheek5900 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That’s funny, but I rather like the little pocket compartment on the door, I actually use it. My one complaint is the straps that act as inside doorhandles. I just don’t know what they were thinking. They pulled out a couple of times, revealing a rather long screw that holds it in place. I just wonder why they couldn’t secure it better so that we could use it without worrying about it pulling out on one side of the other. I finally got around it by asking some car guys to glue it. Problem solved.

  • @andreymihoorenko8551
    @andreymihoorenko8551 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    yes, the tinting of the windows is clearly not enough. Just in no case do not need to tinted windshield. Tinting can be with a slight metallic effect... In short, you know what you need to do. In Russia, some people make additional noise insulation on these LTC, but they are real psychos who want Maybach-level comfort

  • @frenchyp7b
    @frenchyp7b ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You pretty much nailled it: the pocket area is completely useless and fragile, the door injected molding may have been revolutionary then but UGH if you live in a very hot state like me, they ended up drying a bit and the whole windows switch module doesnt fit very well... there is not sunglasses container (but eff it i have that blue glare on my glasses anyway) et finally the way you have to close the door - yes it's pretty cool and old school...but it is SO fragile. Also on later models like my 2011, Lincoln dropped WAY too many options (rain sensor, fog lights, no more fan control on steering wheel), no sunroof, no upgraded stereo.

      @@GetThisNickThe trick is to use a Swiss Army knife bottle opener to pop off the handle bronze clips and then unscrew the strap handle and remove the plastic padding. Screw it back in WITHOUT the plastic and it grabs the door better without risk of breaking off.
      How I know: I have a 2004 town car signature with 256,650 miles and it runs like a champ. It’s just the little things in this model that can be a bitch but with a little tinkering most of these things are quick and easy fixes and there are no more issues.

  • @RichardWentzel-m2g
    @RichardWentzel-m2g 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Well I got my 06 yesterday and I love the thing. It seems like it's a lot heavier than the 94. It drives like it anyway. I think it's from the intake manifold being more restricted if I had to guess so that's what I think. When I get a new one and a good tune I'll bet it wakes up a bit. It's supposed to have 30 more hp but its slower if you ask me.

    The 95-97 Town Car is somewhat peak quality. The 95-96's have the door pockets arm rests are made with a similar material, but they don't creak, break or really cause any issues. The pull handles also hold up a lot better than the later generations. The door panels on the 95-96s also have a felt insert which is very nice. The 97's have the same door panel but it doesn't have the felt. I like all the generations of the town car but the 95-97's are peak quality I would say.

    Just viewed and concurred with GetThisNick's 5 bonus +1 like-loves video. Comparing the Town Car to a trusty Crown Vic cop car I had I miss the ticket light on the headliner, the instrument cluster with H2O temp and voltage gauges, and the larger rear window providing a better view. For additional storage I ordered a trash can /chmpaign bucket combo to go between the 2 back seats, the center console bottom has air ducts for rear air conditioning for those passengers sacrificing bulk front center console storage, so that issue is resolved with a good trade off. But a 3rd rider upfront almost in the driver's lap, what was Ford/Lincoln thinking ? And Nick, you're a tall well built guy, would you want a 3rd rider ? (Unless she happened to be Miss November' s Playmate Home coming Queen ?)

    First of all, maybe you're the kind of fellow who deserves to own one of those front-wheel drive boxes on wheels that GM began to evacuate since 1985.
    It is pretty much funny to still watch almost every GM owner confused, while trying to identify the difference between a Chevy and a Cadillac; just to return home from any parking lot.
    I suppose that you can easily find 100 reasons to hate what became the GM's versions of Volvo, back in the 80's and 90's; for not to mention that Company obsession to be the best japanese manufacturer in anywhere else but America.
    Moreover, try to find a 2005 GM with 343k miles and still be capable of running the way your Lincoln do. Oh, how foolish were the millions of Americans whom in 33 years in a row bought Town Cars. Idiots the portions of them, which chose to got rid from one to buy another.
    Please do not confuse me as a fanatic of Lincolns, just because I hate just one single thing from the current GM generation, not fourteen. And that is they doesn't come with a sign reading 'Uber' on their front doors. That's really something that bothers me a lot.
    May I play my advice to you? Keep your 'old-fashioned' car and don't be so tuff against that disgrace on wheels. Here in this TH-cam channel, maybe you're looking for comments supporting your appreciations regarding a legend.
    However, don't wonder if things upon what fellows may really hate doesn't stand upon the car.
