Greetings, Coach. Dude is one of the better prospects I've seen for SF. He has the prep and grit to become a Force Recon standout. Your guidance and help will push him over the top. Semper Fi to all the jarheads👍

As long as he follows Jakes instruct on his shin splits , keeps away from doing dumb shit , watches out for potential injury ,, he should do fine ,,I seen a lot of guys just like him in airborne school get med rolled or out completely cause of improper PLF landing ,,The black hats DONT waste too much time on showing you how. To hit the ground on those shitty as Bravo shoots ,,you have to do exactly what they say or it’s neck and back Injury All day ,,I seen half my platoon , all STUDS ,,out completely neck and back compression fx …it’s serious shit , you have to have a lot of luck on your side ,,it’s like Jake said , it’s a cunt hair from success and failure , even in Jump school .

He’s on the right track. I would also advise him to learn the chain of command i.e., president, SecDef, SecNav, USMC commandant, assistant commandant; SgtMaj of Marine Corps. Lastly, learn navy officer’s rank structure.

I showed up to USMC boot camp homeless and malnourished. My 1st timed 3 mile run was 2130... At my 2 Yr mark, I got my 3 mile run time down to 1730 and I was recon ready💪💪💪. I ran on my own and on the weekend

I’m in the exact same situation I just got a recon contract I ship in exactly a month and my times are almost the same tho I’m slightly better at swimming and worse at running tho ima bigger dude. I feel way more confident after watching these videos and changing my training strategy. Hope this guy made it.

I did the recon course back in the early 2000's and they allowed the CSS. I couldnt imagine having to do it all with the elementary sidestroke. One difference between the recon indoc and what I know of the BUD/S PST, is that in the Corps, they make you swim it in full cammies. Tons of drag.

Swim harder only works for folks who started swimming as kids. For the rest of us better gains are achieved by swimming smarter ie, getting one on one instruction, joining a masters swim class - working on technique pays bog dividends in terms of speed

If he's going recon, he'd better be mentally ready for that CS. Unless they've changed things, they gas the crap out of their recon trainees.
For those who aren't under contract, an alternative to going Marine Recon or Force Recon, you could always go the army route as a 19D Cavalry Scout. If you're really high speed and dedicated, get Ranger school in your contract. And/or try out for their sniper section.
I know the marines are all rah rah about their recon/force recon guys. But don't sleep on the army's Cav Scouts.

I'm sorry this is three years late. But there is not a boot lieutenant in the Marine Corps or Army that can navigate back to their car, where they park every day, from the company office. So many times I had to convince lt to let lance corporal so-and-so to be primary navigator. Never once met an ROTC boot be able to navigate 10 feet.

  • @stellarhyme3

I wonder if he made it through boot camp. All the physical preparation means nothing when the drill instructors are yelling & chaos erupts all around you constantly. I saw so many recruits just forget how to think, loose all composure & get kicked out. Also, something they don’t tell you before Marine Corps boot camp. You can spent your whole 4 year enlistment trying to graduate. Drill Instructors can recycle you at a whim, you can get injured & get recycled. You can be a fat body & get sent to pcp, (physical conditioning platoon/pork chop platoon). A dude got recycled into my platoon who had been on Parris Island for 3 years trying to graduate. He finally made it & graduated with us but he had a bad attitude & his favorite retort was, "I don’t give a fuck". The Marines don’t care about your feelings. I knew recruits who got kicked cause the drill instructors said they didn’t look like a Marine. I hope this kid made it.

Great video I just don't recommend young men going into the Marines with a Recon Contract - most of these dudes fail - the candidates with the highest pass rates kicked it off a couple years as a 0311 Infantry first + they were already good or acquired strong water/swimming skills + they humped their assess off up/down hills and mountains + they learned all the weapons and Search and Destroy science in advance. I obviously oppose Recon Contracts up-front. I'm certain the magority fail and become cooks or truck drivers. Too many moving pieces. If you fail you are still under contract to fulfill your military obligation (3 or 4 years or whatever).
