What a fantastic tribute to the family and this 993. Porsche is as much about legacy and continuity of tradition as it is about the car itself, and your video captured this perfectly. Well done - says a lot about the work you do.
Great edit, great music and great story. Awesome work which shows that that last 1% (99%->100%) can be only achieved by passion, which only a few are driven by. So far the best and the most inspiring video on your channel.
I really appreciate that you guys didn't try to talk or con him into selling it. Anyone else would immediately start making offers and try to take advantage of all of the issues to get it for cheap.
Not in a million years would I have done that! If your new to the channel definitely check out my other videos like detailing the chiron. Hauyra. P1. This was all about returning the car to the family and making it perfect! Nothing else crossed my mind 👍🙂
Single stage paint looks the best for solid colors especially black. Clear over black looks milky you will not see a true black unless you use single stage paint. The red on this car is quite amazing, a brilliant color for this car.
Agreed. Something special about single stage paint. The color on the 993 was incredible in person. The camera just about does it justice. So vibrant and beautiful. The quintessential color for a 993 Turbo in my opinion.
I believe he literally put some washers basically something that added some space so the connection wasn't so easily made. Listen so you really had to force the word and down to make that connection the honk intentionally. That's how he explained it to me anyway

Not sure when it ended but typically the 993 is single stage and everything before it is too. I was really surprised the painted areas had been resprayed In Single stage. Makes me curious if it was done a long time ago or if the painter new what he was doing and was trying to keep it as original as possible?
That car has definitely stood the test of time. After the amazing detail job, it looks as good today as it did new, especially that beautiful wing on the back of that car which harkens back to the days not long before this particular era of Porsche of the "whale tale". I saw one of these 993 Turbo's not that long ago going across I-64 in Lexington, KY in bright yellow and it looked absolutely fantastic. You could tell the owner took very good care of it.
That wing is definitely a beautiful Design!! The owner definitely takes care of it. It sat awhile and the real problems were basically just from not driving. By no means was it trash or anything like that.
That $13,000+ mechanic bill was a shocker and that's AFTER the Porsche dealership had wanted to be a part of the resurrection of this vehicle. But as they say "if you have to ask"...... Well worth the money and effort to get this piece of Porsche history back on the road for not only the owner to enjoy driving, but for car enthusiasts to be able to see in motion, hearing the sounds, smelling the smells, etc.

Damn this story hits for me… glad I found your vid and channel. Just like the owner of the 993 I lost my dad to cancer (came out of nowhere for him) 4 years ago. He raced Porsches in PCA and SCCA, had a number of different Porsches over the years but he kept a 77’ euro spec car that he imported himself in the early 80’s. The car has sat since the early 90’s, and it’s been in my garage the last 4 years… it runs and drives, but def needs some sorting. Even if I never get the car fully sorted, I don’t see myself ever letting it go lol.

Would love to see an update video if possible; hows the car doing, how effective has the ceramic coating been in protecting the single stage paint from uv/oxidation. ... definitely wouldnt mind looking at some more b-roll of this beautiful car. Loved the video!
Definitely! I think even a 2010 something could be a barb find if it's left sitting in a garage for 12 years covers in dust and leaking fluids. I put the definition in one of the comments and it didn't have anything to do with age of car I think... Thanks for watching 🙂

what an unbelievable story. awesome!!! whats crazy is im a prevoius car dealer prep dept mngr and detailer. ive been doing cars on the side since 93. my brother actually got a guards 97 993tt after his e46 m3. ive been taking care of the porsche since he has owned it. its under 25k now all o.e. parts that came with it all records and its just a great example. ive got it 1st place twice at hershey pca swap meet in its class and it hasnt gotten below 2nd anytime its been in a judged event. its such a bueatiful car but the paint is very finicky. we use all groits cleaners and a german 2 step glaze and sealer calld klass. it comes together in a gray and 1 red rect bottles. it works well and ive only clay barred it once. so my friend the job you have done here is absolutely stunning. i cant tell you how awesome it was to hear this story. i consider myself lucky to even drive and take care of him its a very special and now extremely valuable. since 2022 started there's been 6-8 993 turbos sold for 300+k.. this video will get watched many times by me so a sincere appreciation of this video my friend. please be well
Absolutely love comments like this! Grateful for viewer's like yourself that definitely "get it" Sounds like the story behind your 993 is also very special! Especially with all the awards attached! Definitely tricky paint! Polishing the edges on the back wing was a precious and scary time lol. Easy to burn paint on such a old car with mystery detail history. So glad you enjoyed the video Gregory. I hope to have more stories similar to this to tell! I believe I might have the opportunity to tell a similar story on a Ferrari soon.
@@STATUSDETAIL I couldn't pull myself together enough last night but that story spoke to me extremely deeply because the reason I'm a car guy is my dad. I'm 47 and since I was three years old my dad got me subscription to every car magazine every toy car he drew toy cars he built me toy cars he bought me RC cars and just did so much with me and my brother and sadly he passed away before my nephew was born and he didn't get to do the same for my nephew and having the 993 turbo in this family would have just been really wonderful for him to see. So glad you found Status! Music is so tough. So many people like it and people also don't always like it. My newer videos have very little music. So I think it's a good balance
Hypothetically one of each if you continually wash them out. The main problem with this is when you reuse them right away you start throwing water all over the place and that's kind of problematic. So if you want to avoid this around one pad per panel will definitely get the job done One pad per every two panels probably also works out. I honestly don't remember how many I ended up using but it was a whole lot and I ended up throwing away a couple because they just don't wash out very well so they're kind of tie-dyed with red paint forever I keep some of those for weird things like tar residue removal on other cars but I'll never use them again as a primary pad on a car with multi stage paint. You can polish single stage paint with a few pads if the paint's not very bad but when you're eating up all that oxidized paint that this car had you end up needing to cut way more which requires extra
It's clear this particular car with it's personal history has really moved you, that is evident and you did an amazing job. Dry ice cleaning underneath to enhance it's value, do you think....?
Thanks for watching! To me detailing is really an art form. So I get the detail something that's special not only to the car community but also to a person because it has a personal story attached to it it just becomes a very special thing!! Dry ice cleaning the bottom would definitely not hurt the value. But I'm not sure if it would improve the value. For the right buyer I could see them paying slightly more to know the car was like meticulously clean underneath. But many people wouldn't care so it's hard tell.
@@shaukatshaikh3472 thank you 🙂 that means a lot! I have found out it's very difficult to make a great video in the editing sense! I'm grateful that this story was awesome and I hope I put it all together in a enjoyable format for the viewers. Because a great story told poorly ends up looking uninteresting!
Very nice, although you guys forgot to point the center wheel cap crests to the tire valves. Details I know. Porsche fanatics notice. Beautiful car, great job.
Is that a OEM thing? The tech actually put the wheels back on. We didn't do wheels off in this job for the detail portion. But I will certainly make a mental note of that even if it's not a oem thing. I just can't un read that! LoL
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!😃 I had planned with the owner to tag alone when his mom saw the car so we could film the reaction. It would have been so awesome to capture that but the logistics and schedule just didn't line up unfortunately! Maybe I film a wash and put some Audi over it of the wife and son telling stories about the car.... That could be cool!

Hi just discovered your channel watched 2 vids so far great content will suscribe. Not a criticism but an observation with the black testarossa barn find you said don't pressure wash the dirt off because it will scratch the paint yet in this vid you pressure washed the dirt off?? I totally agree with the first method on the testarossa.Again great content.
Thanks for watching another one of my videos! I look forward to seeing you around the channel 🙂🙂 I think you may have misunderstood or misheard me in the testarossa video! I pretty sure I said we pressure washed first and then followed with a foam cannon to emulsify the remaining dirt but ultimately It didn't matter what I did because the paint was so trashed haha. To set the record straight... Always pressure wash the dirt off!!! It's the best and safest way to start any wash process 👍👍

Thanks for watching it 🙂
Lots of other awesome videos on my channel. Check out my most recent upload of a turbo s that's new!
I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic, 66,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny, varioram. No CEL, no oil leaks. I'm never selling it.
Love it!
Damn, what a beautiful car. Guards Red 993 Turbo is one of my dream cars
Definitely goes down as a timeless and iconic car! I didn't get the 993 thing when I was a bit Younger but now I totally see it lol.
@@STATUSDETAIL Same here, I wish I would have scraped all my pennies together and got a big loan or something when I was younger.. before prices went insane. haha
@@2fast2nick would have made a boat load of money because they are so expensive now! Lol
One of porches most beautiful design
100% agree
I have the same car. Same exact repairs to make. Horn, sunroof, turbo leaks and needs paint resto.....want to do another one?? Great video!
I'd love to do another! Are you in the Chicago area?
You can ship the car here if not.
My contact info is on my website! Statusdetail.com
Would love to see an update video if possible; hows the car doing, how effective has the ceramic coating been in protecting the single stage paint from uv/oxidation. ... definitely wouldnt mind looking at some more b-roll of this beautiful car. Loved the video!
Car is great! Being driven often. Was even used in winter as a daily for a bit due to his daily being in a shop for a long time.
its crazy that 90's model cars are considered barn finds now.
Definitely! I think even a 2010 something could be a barb find if it's left sitting in a garage for 12 years covers in dust and leaking fluids.
I put the definition in one of the comments and it didn't have anything to do with age of car I think...
Thanks for watching 🙂
Absolutely stunning .. thanks for sharing the story of it :)
Thanks for taking the time to watch it Dave!
Was a special story and car so I knew I had to share it with the car community!
Be sure to check out my other videos like the bugatti Chiron and there hyper car Details!

@@DaveGath Thanks for subscribing Dave! Greatly appreciate new fans 😃
Besides the 959 this is my second porsche
I'm a pretty big 911 fan. Love all the generations. Currently really like the 991.2 touring
what an unbelievable story. awesome!!! whats crazy is im a prevoius car dealer prep dept mngr and detailer. ive been doing cars on the side since 93. my brother actually got a guards 97 993tt after his e46 m3. ive been taking care of the porsche since he has owned it. its under 25k now all o.e. parts that came with it all records and its just a great example. ive got it 1st place twice at hershey pca swap meet in its class and it hasnt gotten below 2nd anytime its been in a judged event. its such a bueatiful car but the paint is very finicky. we use all groits cleaners and a german 2 step glaze and sealer calld klass. it comes together in a gray and 1 red rect bottles. it works well and ive only clay barred it once. so my friend the job you have done here is absolutely stunning. i cant tell you how awesome it was to hear this story. i consider myself lucky to even drive and take care of him its a very special and now extremely valuable. since 2022 started there's been 6-8 993 turbos sold for 300+k.. this video will get watched many times by me so a sincere appreciation of this video my friend. please be well
Absolutely love comments like this! Grateful for viewer's like yourself that definitely "get it"
Sounds like the story behind your 993 is also very special!
I would trade that 993 for one more day with my dad but that story was just wonderful I will remember that my whole life so don't ever stop putting out content because you never know when it will have such a profound effect on somebody. Be well
@@gregoryfranks7347 that's incredible! I'm glad you found the channel! I think you will enjoy the content and future stories 🙂 glad to have you as part of the status fan base 🙂👍

Beautiful car and stunning looks after the meticulous detail.
Thanks!
I've got a few 993s, I'd love to get detailed at that level!
Are you local to Chicago!?
If not you can ship them here. I have a new 992 coming from Ohio and a Tesla coming from GA next week!

Stumbled across your channel and loving the videos, music could be dropped as I’m more interested in listening to what you have to say. Very knowledgeable guy and I can feel your passion for what you do.
So glad you found Status! Music is so tough. So many people like it and people also don't always like it. My newer videos have very little music. So I think it's a good balance
Fascinating! So off the top of your head, this car would require - just roughly - how many 6", 3" and 1" pads?
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🙂
Fantastic job! This story is why we do it!
Thanks! Hopefully the video gets some views so car enthusiasts can see this cool Story !
@@STATUSDETAIL - very smooth video. You have done Lot of work on car as well as on making wonderful video
@@shaukatshaikh3472 thank you 🙂 that means a lot! I have found out it's very difficult to make a great video in the editing sense! I'm grateful that this story was awesome and I hope I put it all together in a enjoyable format for the viewers. Because a great story told poorly ends up looking uninteresting!
this car is amazing. by every evolution, you see, it´s a PORSCHE. AND THE NEXT GENERATION, oh it´s more looking great as before.
The 993 looked so right !
Anything to do about the rim rash on the back left tire.
Refinishing it
Very nice, although you guys forgot to point the center wheel cap crests to the tire valves.
LoL
What a great story and amazing automobile. Nice work and tribute. Are you doing a family reveal vid?
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!😃
I had planned with the owner to tag alone when his mom saw the car so we could film the reaction. It would have been so awesome to capture that but the logistics and schedule just didn't line up unfortunately! Maybe I film a wash and put some Audi over it of the wife and son telling stories about the car.... That could be cool!
Great video.. great story ..great job..
Thanks for the kind/encouraging words Mark!
Had a lot of fun making this story and figured the car community would enjoy it!

Lots of hyper car details like the bugatti Chiron and Pagani hauyra!

Hi,nice car, beautifull color,i have a question about the music, what is the name of the first piano bit?thank you!
Hello!
I can't remember the names unfortunately. But I'm pretty sure this is the pianist in most of the music
ludovico einaudi
Really enjoyed that thanks 👌
Glad you enjoyed it Rocco!! 🙂
NICE JOB Great Story
Thanks!
Great video I hope it helps you grow your brand great piano music throughout the video.
Thanks Marcus! It's actually helped me grow a lot so far! Gained a lot of subscribers so far from it.
Including me
@@dynapak951rotti thanks for subscribing!! Means a lot in the early stage of the channel 🙂🙂
I look forward to seeing you around the channel 🙂🙂
I think you may have misunderstood or misheard me in the testarossa video!
Stunning and straight from the heart thanks 🏆
Definitely a heartfelt story about dads 911. This is what the car community is all about. Awesome family stories about cool cars!
Good job, beautiful car. I had a flat red car that could turn pink if not cared for.
That's wild! Older paint definitely can transform a lot when not taken care of! Thanks for watching!
Nice video, but the piano background music made me fall asleep ;-)
Lol sorry about that
Porsche ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

That's such a great story!
Glad you enjoyed it! Knew I had to tell the story after chatting with the owner for a few minutes! Glad he let me document the process!

Gotta love a 993 Turbo Barn find!!!
Just come across your channel and the 993 turbo is fantastic ! lovely work and interesting esp on the oxidized paintwork as im currently trying to sort my roof on my 1998 VW T4 Transporter as its flat black and very dull. So ive liked and subscribed keep up the good work !
Thanks for watching and subscribing Giles! I'm going to have to Google T4 Transporter now because I rarely don't know a car!
Beautiful car 👍
