The Nature of Perception - Rupert Spira

  • All we know of the mind, body and world are thoughts, sensations and perceptions. All
    we know of thoughts, sensations and perceptions is the experience of thinking, sensing and perceiving. And all we know of thinking, sensing and perceiving is the knowing of them. In fact, we never find the 'them'.
    We just know Knowing. And what is it that knows this Knowing? Is it known by something other than itself? No! It knows itself. It is Knowing that knows Knowing. All experience is the light of pure Knowing being and knowing itself alone, and, because it never knows or comes in contact with anything other than itself, we can also say, loving itself alone. However, in order to know itself, Knowing does not separate itself into two parts, and become a subject, located in and as the body, that knows an object, other or world. There is no subject-object relationship in its knowing of itself.
    Not to know an object as an object is the experience of beauty; not to know an other as an other is the experience of love. Beauty is the essential nature of all perception; love is the essential nature of all feeling. Beauty and love, the essential nature of all experience: two names for the knowing of our Being, its knowing of itself, as it truly is.
    RUPERT SPIRA
    From an early age Rupert was deeply interested in the nature of Reality. For twenty years he studied the teachings of Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Shankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, twelve years ago. Francis introduced Rupert to the teaching of Jean Klein, Parmenides, Wei Wu Wei and Atmananda Krishnamenon and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience.
    Rupert's first book is "The Transparency of Things," subtitled "Contemplating the Nature of Experience,". His second book, "Presence Volume I The Art of Peace and Happiness and Presence Volume II The Intimacy of All Experience" has been currently released by Non-Duality Press. www.rupertspira.com

    People, please understand that Rupert often invokes Ramana Maharsi. Ramana Maharsi always said that his Silence was his true teaching. When they asked the Buddha if God exists, the Buddha remained silent. The silence is not a bug, it's a feature ;)

    Perception creates an impression. Reception demands a response. We may perceive fire differently, but to avoid burning ourselves,our response is the same. To pull away. When we see the divine in the flame, our response is not to pull away but to respect it.

    How are we going to find out the reality about ourselves? Simply seek within.

    Taking a jeeva route consciousness ends up being you and I and this universe. Minded consciousness is jeeva and what the duality is all about.

    Not the Buddha, Sri Sankara should have been the icon kept for these talks.

    Even at 2x speed the tempo of his speech was slow!
    Great content but give me a break with the one word pauses.

      As a man is, so he sees.

    • @hippo-potamus

      There is no such thing as purity, as color, as cloth, as quietness, as agitation, as peace, as listening, as resistance, as appreciation, as seeing. No one can change anything about anything, do anything about anything, etc. Everything is as it is and there is nothing to do about it. His slow speech is as it is, his one word dramatic pauses are as they are, and my agitation as you called it was as it was. Have you realized the ending or are you still simply repeating things you have heard?

    • @hippo-potamus
      @hippo-potamus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are lost in the mirage of advaita vedanta. Look at how you protect your beliefs. There is no such thing as pain or suffering. These are words which have no meaning to those who truly understand the ending. There are no gods to help anyone from anything. You are trapped in the spiritual game. Self imposed bondage and don't even know it. Another false awakening exposed.

    • @hippo-potamus
      @hippo-potamus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That comment was made over 2 years ago at the beginning of my journey. My replies to you destroy all beliefs and cannot be argued with because they are fundamental. Rupert and the many other teachers/gurus/masters are useful only as pointers. They are thorns to remove thorns. Once used/realized they must be discarded. Your understanding is clearly lacking and superficial. You keep using feel good words and repeating platitudes thinking that they will get you somewhere. You keep using words which describe things which do not exist. The sad part is only after you effort and effort and effort will you finally realize that effort will get you nowhere. You don't understand what I speak of because it was not in your destiny to understand. You are the one that is resistant. You resist the what is.

    • @hippo-potamus
      @hippo-potamus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Give up the bliss. Bliss exists only in duality. Words have no meaning. and YOU or whatever you believe yourself to be (point of attention etc) are NOT the do-er of anything therefore YOU cannot resist or flow with anything.

    OMG, now that is what I call a sleeper - boring. This guy needs to learn how to speak and gain the audiences attention - not put them all to sleep. Unreal.

      Hopefully after 7years more of life, the mind has matured beyond needing to be entertained and you can drop into the space of pure consciousness. May it be so 🙏🏽

    This is one of the worst sessions he has ever done. First, there was a baby or child in the audience. Secondly, his pauses were so long they were distracting. Almost like someone was reading material to him through an ear piece.
