His inspired scene from City Light where the millionaire used to invite chaplin when he was intoxicated and threw away when he was sober reflected in Kamal Hassan's Uyarntha Ullam (1986). This portion resembled the scene between Kamal Haasan (Millionaire) and Radha Ravi.
It's weird that they can compare Bollywood movies to Hollywood ones but it's hard for them to compare Hollywood to Bollywood.

@Universe yeah primarily because post midway the story didn’t make a proper emotional connection between the two brothers and the audience. Also the delays in production waiting for that technology to arrive where fight scenes could be done between both the kamal haasans seemed to have affected the budget on the latter part of the movie

(1) The Spanish movie "3 Idiotas" was a remake of "3 idiots'.
(2) Mira Nair was working on a remake of "Munnabhai MBBS" called "Gangsta MD" with Chris Tucker - it never got made.
(3) "Mission Kashmir" with Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt was released in 2000. A couple of years later there was a script floating around for a new movie in the Rocky franchise set in Afghanistan with Hrithik Roshan playing a long-lost son of Stallone. Never saw the light of day.

Landmark stores in Chennai used to be famous book/CD store in late 90s. There were plenty of stories of foreigners coming into this store and buying 100s of CDs of Indian movies (both Hindi and regional) during those times. I think some of those buyers were definitely looking for inspiration for their Hollywood scripts.

It's kind of a proof that there not many movies now in bollywood that inspires others to remake.. all the movies shown are old ones at which time bollywood did have all original movies
It was the golden era of bollywood now is the downfall of bollywood but still it is experimenting so who knows future might be bright for the industry in terms of content but for that bollywood should immediately stop all remakes be it movies or songs we can support mediocre original movies but remakes r not acceptable at all

Another movie which was inspired by Bollywood film was “La La Land” inspired by Salman Khan’s “Janeman”. Watch the song “Humko Malum Hai” from the film and La La Land copied some of the cinematography, a little bit of the story line and the way the movie was presented.

Haven’t seen most of the Hollywood movies mentioned here, but Pearl Harbor surely has the same plot(at least on paper) as Sangam.
Sangam runs very high on emotion( with some great songs) and feels a bit stretched at times but is, in my opinion, still the better of the two.
Also, the war in Sangam is the Indo China war of 1963.

The Lion King, jungle book, Tarzan are all inspired from Rudyard Kipling's, the jungle book. This was written with an Indian content and also there is 'Panchatantra', panchatantra are old Indian stories which has animal characters speaking. They are mostly fables and moral stories. Many films with speaking animal characters could be treated as inspired from Panchatantra..

@korbin you'd enjoy Leap Year probably. The duo in that film travel in Ireland and there are heavy Irish culture nods in the movie. Although the film itself isn't too great and a pretty average romcom at best.
Avatar 1 movie's story line is same as "Vietnam Colony" movie (Malayalam/Tamil). Even the scen is copied. Lije, in Avatar when the hero first lands into the new area he encounters a dinosaur like creature and gets scared. This scene is exactly the same where tge actor Mohanlal/ Prabhu gets scared when encountering a local goon in the new Colony that he visit.
