2 players, no backing, no autotune, no stupid dancers covering up, just a great song, sung by the guy who wrote it and his sax player filled a stage. Brilliant.
out of the many rock stars who wrecked there life with drugs and the fast life this guy gets his high off of spreading happiness and cheer if even for a few hrs. great talent from a great musician
I was on the front row when he sang this at one of his concerts, hand in hand with my wife. He gave us one of the warmest smiles. A lovely human being 👏👏
it's simply impossible to describe how much Supertramp contributed to my generation. I listen to all kinds of music nowadays. But my angst-ridden teenage years were dominated by Supertramp, ELO and Pink Floyd. Wasn't a bad way to grow up...
Absolutely wonderful. The fact that it's 4 AM and everyone was waiting makes it that much more precious. Way to go, Roger! Not a pretentious, egotistical bone in his body.
I'm entirely sure that the crowd must have thinned before Roger arrived. And for him to give his all for those who were still there, at such a late hour, is truly heroic. MUCH respect for him, the fans, and the tech crew.
Absolutely. I've got a Supertramp compilation somewhere and Give A Little Bit is one of my favourites but I don't know that much about the band. I doubt if many people would have blamed him for pulling out, especially when one considers that this show took place on the Faroe Islands, a fairly remote place with a small population. The fact that he went ahead with the show at 4 a.m. says a lot about his integrity as a person and as a musician. It also shows the deep respect he felt towards the Faroe Islanders themselves. The world needs more people like him.
To be fair, he could sing the phone book and we would be happy. He truly is a force of nature. Not quite Jon Anderson but right up there with Pavorotti and maybe even the great Barry White.
@@geoffpoole483 Absolutely, thanks. There are 18 different islands in the Faroes and people had no doubt traveled from some of the remote islands to be there. It was great for him hold the concert despite the delays.
man, performing in the Faroe islands....!!! incredible. Its a massive distance from mainland, and they must have loved it!!! my compliments, you are MR Roger Hodgson a STAR!!!!
My grand daughter loves this tune. She is 6. Had to buy her the cd and a player to play it on. Blew my mind. She's like, "Papa you know this song"? I'm like hell yeah, grew up with this band in the day. LOL. Old Rock n Roll will never die!
If you don't like this, don't talk go me a lot. Roger Hodgson you are the best! Keep doing what you are doing for as long as you can, and I will keep listening...
I first heard this on a tape system in a snooker club in Ancoats in Manchester in about 1987. I got a job there, graveyard, 21:00 to 09:00 and we only had about 4 tapes. I fell in love with Supertramp and haven't fallen out of love since, nor will I ever.
🥀Beautiful Song amazing lyrics, vocals are Powerful but soothing and unique. I love this song and this Man he's an amazing singer song writer talents beyond his own time. I've heard this song all my life it seems but he sounds the same!! I love this Man he waited until 4am to play because of plane delays Ohmygosh he's beautiful inside and out. I love you and your tunes. I was born into music by my Dad he was inducted into the Country music hall of and honor in Macon, Ga. in 1987 singer song writer so I can imagine that you love your passion for music I can feel your word's! Look at how young the audience is. This is glorious...Glorious. some of the world’s most beautiful rock music being passed through the generations. As a father who is about to introduce my 13-year-old daughter to Breakfast in America (different album, but, still) I can’t love this enough. Thank you for this.
driving through the forest of Washington state as a teen, had it so good listening and singing to Roger. He will never know how biggest fan I'am and still go to his tours, I'm so lucky, Still ...
wow, it's 40 years and 2 months since I saw Supertramp live - we were spoilt for choice with amazing prog rock bands then. I love the way RH is going strong at nearly 70yo and clearly still loving what he's doing
A master performer, composer , craftsman. Reminds me of me, if I was who I dreamed of being. Regretfully, dreams are great, but sleeping is wonderful. That is why I dream. So shut the front door!

Wow...I would have chopped off an appendage to have been there to see this "Super Trooper" and celebrate the music with these dedicated fans. I heard Rick Davis is still hanging around in France so lets pray that they might reunite for one more round together.

Love this, and as somebody said below - nothing pretentious. I remember he came to our town in Edmonton back in 2005 or 2006 (I honestly can't remember). And there was maybe 200 people who at any given time had stopped by the makeshift pavilion we were gathered at. He played a handful of his songs - it was just him. There was no one else. Then he got people up on stage who had never played an instrument (I so wanted to go up there!! - hehehe), and he put a guy on the drums, someone else on maybe a bass guitar, and one other person maybe with a tambourine or something - honestly it didn't matter because it was really cool just to watch these people who had never been on stage ever in their lives jamming with Roger and the rest of us living vicariously through them. And he enjoyed that part - you know - sharing that experience that most of us will never know. And now almost 20 years later, I find myself playing his and Richard's stuff and imagining that time realizing how much of an influence Roger and Rick had on so many people. Footnote: On occasion I will mention this and some folks will remember the exact same thing from some other venue, and so it was like reliving it again and again. What a unifying force music can be.
Thank you Roger, I've heard Supertramp since the 70's 80's .... today over 50 years of age I still travel in the progressive symphonies of your group that will be in the history of world music...Merit to all the members .... those who had a fast pass or one who thought that was the owner of Supertramp .... sad mistake ... Back in 1977 .Me and my girlfriend listen to this song and we both loved it. and the most of Supertramps songs . Today i am 65. Memories...........
You know how hard it is to play the guitar when it's freezing outside?

Wow, THAT'S real good music! No effects, no dancers, no ego trip...Just good old rock, with an ageless message! Awesome!

his smile is so genuine it makes me so happy
Class act and a true professional. Up all night on a white knuckle flight and still put on an authentic show of excellence. I wish I was there.
Supertramp supergroup. Miss the 70s so much. ...and the 80s.
What a guy !!! Arrives late and STILL honors his followers with an amazing concert !
Breakfast in America was a breath of fresh air in 79'.

Roger Hodgson .....brilliant and deserves so much more recognition for his songs........one of the best, but the logical song gets my 10 out of 10
How can you not love this man’s voice?
Supertramp was a very addictive group in its day and still is.
4.00am, not only flawless vocals and guitar but his saxophonist was also brilliant. This is one of my all time favourite youtube clips

Oh, yeah
Alright
Here we go again
Hey hey, whoa no, da na, hey hey, yeah
Give a little bit
Give a little bit of your love to me
Give a little bit
I'll give a little bit of my love to you
There's so much that we need to share
So send a smile and show you care
(Alright)
I'll give a little bit
I'll give a little bit of my life for you
So give a little bit
Give a little bit of your time to me
See the man with the lonely eyes
Oh, take his hand, you'll be surprised
Oh, take it
Ah, yeah
Come along
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Give a little bit
Give a little bit of your love to me
I'll give a little bit of my life for you
Now's the time that we need to share
So find yourself, we're on our way back home
Oh, going home
Don't you need, don't you need to feel at home
Oh yeah, we gotta sing
Oh yeah, you gotta get a feeling
Oh, yeah, come along too
Whoo!
You can come along too, yeah
Come-a, come-a, come-a, come along
Cha, cha, cha oh, yeah
Oh, yeah, come along too
Yeah, come along too, yeah
Sing Betty Lou
Come along too
What a long ride
Come a long way
Oh, sing it tonight
Oh, yeah
