EIGHT BULLEID PACIFICS together for the first time in OVER FIVE DECADES!

- More action from the historic Swanage Railway’s Strictly Bulleid II Pacific gathering of no less than EIGHT examples of the class, four unrebuilt ‘Spam Cans’, two rebuilt Light Pacifics and two Merchant Navy class examples (the first time two Merchant Navy locomotives have been seen together and double headed since the 1960’s!)
The locomotives in action were:
34028 'Eddystone'
34053 'Sir Kieth Park'
34070 'Manston'
34072 '257 Squadron'
34081 '92 Squadron' * (sadly this failed on the Saturday and Sunday)
34092 'City of Wells'
35006 'Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co.'
35018 'British India Line'
This really was a preservation milestone to see such a collection of one class of locomotive together in steam working trains, so here are a selection the movements from Friday afternoon at Swanage! | 07.06.2024

Excellent coverage of a very memorable event. Bulleid's Southern Pacifics are absolute treasures in the history of our railways, magnificent & powerful beasts both rebuilt and unrebuilt. We and future generations are so lucky that there are so many preserved, with a couple more currently awaiting restoration I believe.

Had a great day @ Swanage on the Saturday. Shame 92 Squadron wasn't running has it failed? All in all a superb event seeing the two Merchant navy's made my day. I also loved seeing city of Wells all in all a great occasion.
Magnificent catches of the steam locomotive coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars.

Impossible to have TOO MANY Bulleids.
34066 Spitfire and 34086 219 Squadron were considered candidates for preservation in the 60s for their good conditions but 34023 Blackmoor Vale was chosen for preservation instead due to it being in better condition than 34066 Spitfire and 34086 219 Squadron.
Will 34092 City of Wells, 34070 Manston, and 35006 Peninsular and Oriental S.N.Co be mainline certified?
Where’s 35005 Canadian Pacific, 34016 Bodmin, 34007 Wadebridge, 34046 Braunton, 34067 Tangmere, 34027 Taw Valley, 34105 Swanage, 34039 Boscastle, 34101 Hartland, and 35027 Port Line?
Canadian Pacific is nearing completion of her overhaul at the Mid Hants, Bodmin is under overhaul at Carnforth, Wadebridge's boiler cert has expired so shes under overhaul at Watercress line, Swanage is also under overhaul at Watercress line, Boscastle has been stripped down to its component parts at the GCR, Hartland is currently undergoing a major overhaul at the NYMR and Port Line is under overhaul with LSL, hope that helps!

@@debrascoot5283 , 34010 Sidmouth is still under restoration from scrapyard condition to running condition, 34058 Sir Frederick Pile is still under restoration from scrapyard condition to running condition and 34073 249 Squadron is still under restoration from scrapyard condition to running condition.
Will 34028 Eddystone be mainline certified?
not to my knowledge, she will remain running on the Swanage and be available to visit other preserved railways on loan or for galas
@@brunelheritage, I know that 34046 Braunton and 34067 Tangmere are mainline certified but I’m just wondering if 34028 Eddystone, 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair and 34092 City of Wells would be mainline certified.
Will 34053 Sir Keith Park be mainline certified?
