    Hello Justin, We're back last week after a 3 week trip. I have to start with the E-Visa and Personal Locator Form. PLF was not required anymore at our departure point SFO. Visa on arrival was not even checked. But it was good to have one just in case.
    Let's talk about the buggy ride. We could have used it 6 times but 3 times were good enough. On arrival our gate was almost at an isolated very quiet end of the terminal. An the next gate we spotted a buggy with a female driver talking in her Mobile Phone. We approached her, showed our passports. She looked at the birthdates. She was not happy about it but she drove us to the lift. We had a connecting domestic flight. We saw the buggy station after the lift 3 buggies, 2 drivers and one at the counter. We asked if they can bring us to Gate 6 at the domestic lounge. The drivers were not happy but the one at the counter said OK. The 3rd encounter was arrival from Kayseri. We took another one by the gate. Also the male driver was not into it. I don't really care if they like it or not. We got the rides. Is this because it's free because of our age?
    The 5th chance to have a buggy ride was another arrival at 10am from Denezli. There were buggies but no drivers and counters were unmanned. We realized later that it was a Friday.
    Departure from Istanbul, there's no buggy counter by E1 Gate where the Turkish Airlines lounge is located. We walked to Gate 11 less than 10 minutes. There was another bag inspection by the gate following US protocol.
    So far we had the BEST treatment regarding travel, our International departure from Istanbul Airport. Gate 5 is an exclusive gate, separate check in , TSA and immigration and bag screening priorities. It was so quiet and isolated.
    But at their domestic bag inspections, their machines were not working and all bags have to be emptied looking for liquids and metal. Good we had 5 hours extra during our domestic flights.
    All we could say, Istanbul Airport is huge, have clear signs and very clean.
    Happy travels Justin and thanks for posting those very helpful videos.

      Hi again Tony :) Thank you so much for reporting back, and giving this detailed report/review :) Happy to hear that your travel went well :) I have a new trip via Istanbul in December, and will try check a little bit more about this Buggy Stations and their service. I have had more telling me the same thing, that the service sometimes has been so and so. And I agree with you, the airport is huge, but easy to navigate and clean :)

      @@JustinThailand thank you Justin! I only have 1.20 min for a transfer as well, I read the reviews that I can take a short connection with pink signs. Does it apply though for Domestic Transfers? Do I have better chances as if I’m not mistaken, from the videos I watched, it looks like the Domestic transfer is a bit closer then International one? Also I don’t need to go through customs, just the passport control, right? And no need to claim my luggage, will it be directly going to my final destination, right? Since this ticket I purchased via Turkish Airlines to a final destination which is Antalya Turkey with transit in IST. Sorry for too many questions, just very anxious and nervous as it’s very important for me to get on my connecting flight on time as I will be meeting my mom at the final destination. So I really appreciate all the help you can provide. Hi Justin your videos have been eye opener. We are gathering for a family reunion (from three different continents) in Bodrum Turkey w layover in Istanbul and first time in ISA. One of us from AUS has to recheck the luggage and wonders if 5 hr layover is enough, for our old mom we are thinking if she needs meet and greet service so she doesn’t get lost, a 1hr and 30 min layover for me from SFO, wondering if I should increase my layover. So many questions, any input appreciated.

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is an huge airport, but on the same time, easy to navigate. I have a lot of videos of transit in Istanbul. I you have less than 90 minutes for example, you are eligible to use the Short Connection, just follow the pink signs saying "Short Connection". As I explain in my videos, your transit experience is often determined on your arrival and departure gate, because of the distance. Here is a great link where you can find much information about your travel, and for elderly people and more. www.istairport.com/en/flights/airport-guides/iga-cares-accessibility/?locale=en&tab=4#age-friendly
      If you have more question, I will try to help as much as I can :)

    hi! this is very informative! My transit will be only for 2 hours 10 minutes and it's worrying me as I have to walk and deal with the immigration, security check and to the departure gate. I believe the immigration and security check process itself will require plenty of time. Do you think it's possible for me?

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it's very possible :) I do belive you have a ticket to your final destination under 1 ticket. That mean, you will have to through the security control, but you don't have to go through any immigration when doing a transit. If I don't remember wrong now, I think my longest transitwalk from arrival gate to departure gate, including security control was done under 45 minutes :) So if no delays, you have nothing to worry about :) Have a nice flight :)

    Hello Justin, You always have a very good and useful info about Istanbul Airport. Is there another screening at the gate? At least we can time when we are going to leave the lounge.
    Did you go out of the airport recently?
    Most requirements are not required anymore but some websites are still charging 37Euros to fill up a Personal Locator Form. They said it is still required. I don't like to fall on a scam before our trip in 2 weeks.
    Happy travels.

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tony, and thank you :) No, I haven't seen any screening at the gates recently, but im not sure about flights to USA. I did go out of the airport when I lost my connecting flight 3 month ago, but there was no requirements at that time. When I had a planned stopover, just before the Covid, I did apply for an e-visa online.

      @@JustinThailand Thanks so much Justin. We experienced that in Panama but it's a very small airport but we waited until the sign boarding came out of the FIDS. There was chaos at the gate. Fast fast fast an employee was shouting at the top of her voice to people in line because Copa Airline wanted to fly on time. And they did. In Cairo, our landlady told us about the screening at the gate. We knew ahead of time and the airport is not really that huge compared to Istanbul. We will get out of the lounge plenty of time. That buggy will be a great help too. We qualify fortunately.

      If you dont qualify for Special Assistance, you still can use the Buggy Car, but you will have to walk to the medium of the airport as shown in the video.
