Yikes…there are no “mistakes” when it comes to abusing a child. You can have an accident with your children, like them jumping around and getting hurt or maybe once they ran up behind you and ran into your cig, sure accidents happen all the time. But to abuse a child, that takes your whole chest to do, laying hands on a child and giving them stitches isn’t a “mistake”.
Okay, right away I have issues with the story of "running into a cigarette". I'm a smoker. Never smoked in the house around my kids. But one has run out onto the porch and hit my cigarette. The reaction was so quick it barely left a pink spot. I had her checked out and they gave her an ice pack. Literally all it required. It was gone in three days. Severe burns take a longer contact than just running into a cigarette. That HAS TO BE someone holding the cigarette to the skin. My child was only 2 when this happened and she IMMEDIATELY pulled away from the heat, and I pulled the cigarette away from her. She was left with a tiny pink mark. So the story of running into the cigarette just DOESN'T make sense.
I hate that we didn't get their results. She didn't exactly admit anything. They're both horrible, plain and simple. Hopefully he was able to keep his daughter and she's going to college or working.

Steve is amazing! I liked how he cleared the stage and talked to the mom and had an honest talk with her and didn’t make her feel worse than she should have felt! And that he told her that he was willing to help her if she reached out and needed any additional help. Sometimes we need encouragement, a slap upside the head, something to help correct our path.
I see good in such a volatile situation. I’m glad Steve had this outcome because it’s about the child. The most important part for a child is to see mom and dad working together rather than at each others throats. Some say she got off easy but it’s hard to admit when you’re wrong and doing wrong. I smoke. If kids are around, I'll just go outside or, if we are outside, I'll take a few steps away from them. Kids won't pay attention to what adults are holding in their hands, especially when they're playing, so I have to. It's easy. I never burned a child with a cigarette.

Heck, I have had an adult brushing my cigarette once and I felt horrible!
