MSP are some of the most highly trained law enforcment in the country. After the academy MSP chooses the barrack you are assigned to but you can put in a transfer request to switch barracks.
When he said that you are asked to work in a different part of the state. As far as I know when it comes to location availability you must select all 22 counties. TFC Hooper got assigned to PG County even though he was living in Cecil County when graduating the academy.

Actually just like county cops the troopers have districta, whyle county police are assigned to a district in the county MD state troopers diatricts have 4 whole counties in them! But if you are assignedto a barrack with counties that have thrir own police force such as montgomery, PG, Howard, Etc. your main focus would be highway patrol however you can respond to full service police calls aswell such as domestics, burglaries, etc.
After graduating the academy do troopers get to choose the barrack they are assigned to? If I go to being a State Trooper I hope to be in Baltimore County since I grew up in the Baltimore area and want to continue to live in the Baltimore area. And also what does the Physical agility test consist of?

If I get into MSP I do hope to get assigned Central MD. Even if I have to get assigned Montgomery or PG County. If that happens I may live in the Baltimore metro area if Im allowed to do so. I strongly hope NOT to be in Western MD. I wouldn't mind the Eastern Shore since its a strong diversity and I prefer living in areas with strong diversity. But at some point I hope to get back to Baltimore.

How often does the MSP hold a hiring class and how long does the hiring process take?
I'll do it if I can't join the Army(due to a history of asthma). I'm fit now, I can run up to 5 miles before my legs roll off lls.
