I grew up on a farm in the US, and it has amazed me my whole life how many different things you have to be good at to successfully run a farm. It’s pretty much any skill you can think of and the answer is yes. 🤗 In this little, short video, you did an electrician’s work, a welders work and a masons work. I know you’re doing carpentry and tree work on the little cottage, along with all your livestock and what you have to know about that. And I’ve only watched maybe three videos lol. You remind me of my dad.🐝🤗❤️
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Keep up the good work and remember the wear ear protection when using the grinder. Tinnitus is a nightmare to live with.
Well Adrian, u never seem to rest , great worker no dough , long night now great farm work, chat soon, your health is ur wealth , kieran from Laghey donegal town
Great work Adrian and neat repair. I hate H girders, prefer used rails, rotproof i.m.o.trouble is getting good gate hangars for long gates. A bit of DIY with 4" x 1/2" plate is my solution
Hard to beat having the brains to figure out how to fix and service things yourself, good idea sloping the concrete up to the girder, that repair should last a long time. Looking forward to seeing the quad getting the engine fitted.
You might enjoy Farmer Tyler Ranch too. He has a small, cattle ranch in 🇺🇸. He is also a skilled do-it-yourselfer, and an excellent fabricator. The things (kit?) he has built and modified is amazing.
Just a suggestion, we have rotten rsj’s in our cattle court. Could you shutter around the rsj and bring the level of concrete up so its encased in a concrete block at the base? This would keep it out the dung and last longer.
In the drone video you could see how soft the fields were from the rain by the hoof prints the cows left. Always things to do on the farm. Thanks for taking us along Adrian. Have a great day!
Hi Adrian great video again today ,keep up the good work really enjoyable to watch looking forward to your demo of the bale slicers 👍👍👍👍👍👍ps hi to all your family 😀😀😀
As a retired agricultural engineer it’s great to see machinery so lovingly looked after instead of being neglected then expecting it to work when needed keep up the good work.Rupert
Great space around the shed where you moved the cows. Would make the perfect space for our tiny farm. We also have problems here with the corrosion of metal structures and galvanize lasts much longer than just painted.
When ya are putting a grider down, put a piece of waven pipe maybe a foot above the ground around it will protect it from the dung and help it from rotting
Hi Adrian great video don't no where u get the time to not alone do all the work but also talk to us and explain! I had a shed with pillars the same as that rotten! Had to replace them a buddy did it for me but he suggested we put in a half inch by 6 inch plate into the web both side 2 feet high! Takes the pillar alot longer to rust through!
Just a pointer Adrian as a metal fabricator of 20 odd years, when your arc/mma welding and the weld is vertical there is little to no strength in downward welding….try multiple tacks upwards in very quick succession so before the tacks cool do the next tack,it’s a way of cheating so you don’t have to do the trickier non stop weave upwards. It will be 10 times stronger than downhand welding, same applies to mig welding. It mightn’t matter much where strength isn’t needed too much but when it is needed vertical up is the only job when it’s not possible to position the workpiece flat or horizontal. Brilliant video though as usual Adrian👌🏻👍🏼🇮🇪
As someone who spent long days on jack hammers removing girders (RSJ and Box section), I whole heartly agree that all steel going into concrete should either be galvanised or very heavy like railway girders.
I do love your channel. I was wondering if you could show us what it's like to be electrocuted by your fences plz? You must of done it a million times. I am sure myself and other subscribers would find it very amusing. Looking forward to the cottage video too
We got stuff called owatrol oil I never seen anything keep rust away so well you put it on under paint and the spray ur primer and paint but primer has to be certain kind to stick to it or you can mix it with paint it works great for posts
I love your videos. You are a typical farmer aka jack of all trades. Definitely would love to come to see Ireland and farming. How many head do you milk?
Galvaroid I find is the closest paint to galvanising. It’s only for patch up work really as it’s about 70 or 80 euro a tin (1 litre) but for the likes of painting the bottom of that post is ideal. Paint it on, let it dry and you can then even paint over it with your normal paint. Make sure it’s fully dry before painting over or it’ll never fully cure and defeat it’s purpose. If you’re welding galvanised metal. Clean it down, weld it, apply the galvaroid, let it dry and then get a spray called galvatec. It’s the closest thing to the galvanised finish you can get. From a distance and done correctly you wouldn’t even realise it had been cleaned and welded. Toolfix in Dundalk (who you’ve dealt with before) would supply both or any half decent welding supply store would stock them either.
you are some man Adrian. I had to laugh when you brought out that drill to dig out the concrete. is there any bit of equipment or tool you don't have??!! lol
If My Childhood Memories serve Me right, (50 something years ago) My Father always Hand Mixed (with Shovel) his Concrete as 1 Bucket of Cement , 2 Buckets of Builders Sand, 3 Buckets of Gravel and something under a Bucket of Water (added in slowly during the mixing process). Whilst I’ve never in My Entire Life mixed any of the stuff for Myself, I pretty Confident in the Formula.
Just remember "Cork-Scored a-Goal" (or Cavan, or Clare in my case) Cement:Sand:Gravel. So1:2:3 or using batched (premixed sand & gravel ballast 1:2) = 1:5 Water will depend upon moisture in the ballast. For stronger concrete reduce the amount of ballast. 1:3 gives roughly 25N .
I have a request.... could you tell us some time about your rough collie? I would like to know about diet and how you keep him looking so good. How often are you grooming it and what with???? We have a rough collie we love dearly.... but he finds every burr on the place.
My grandparents were very religious but they always said doing stuff for your animals wasn't classed as work because you have to look after them so they can feed and provide income for you. Galvafroid the 2pack paint is the closest to galvanising metal its not cheap but it works
dont go buying a new section of steel for the gate post, if you have a few steel bars laying around (scaffold poles), just removed the steel at the break, drill 4 holes into the concrete 2 either side, glue in the steel bars then weld the bars to the original steel also weld the break of course... i've done this on a few gate posts. there are some great concrete glues now i used parabond for the posts i did.
Thanks for mentioning the cabin. I was wondering. Farming is 24/7, so yeah even on Sundays sometimes jobs have to get done. So I don’t know, but I’m wondering did hurricane Henry effect you at all? Looking forward to your next video. 🙂

@@IFarmWeFarm i think u can get weights to go on the back wheel rims so u won't need to put any weight on the arms of the tractor so you can still pull the trailer its something to look into
Talking about rain, we had a month's worth in the last five days, and last week what looked like a tornado (wind speeds 122 mph) touched down in North London (not far from the Arsenal, I am not a supporter), I have never seen anything like it, it lasted about ten minutes but so strong I retreated from the window in fear of it, once that was over we had a night of torrential rain. If you want to see the strength of it, somebody posted a video of a fella being rolled down Oxford street, that's in the centre of town. And for the doubters the last two tornados to touched down in London did so in Kensal rise on the same street corner, fifty years apart, one in the 50s and around two thousand. I think the same roof got blown off too. I know I digress, but that little vid is worth a watch. You know very well you do a nice weld.
Ya we had that rain too, look up Agriland on Facebook a see what happened in Co. Wexford during the week, tornado like weather destroyed a few farms killing cattle in there houses. Totally out of the blue with no warning. Crazy stuff
Great job with the pillar Adrian. The jobs are never-ending. Loved the drone shot of the cows and their black and white markings.
Only Adrian can make a tidy, high quality temporary fix that surpasses what most of us would consider a permanent one.
Is there anything an amazing farmer can’t do?!? ❤
