Thank you guys for the suggestions. I can't believe I missed Time of Need since that is a massive one that benefits from this. With 80% reduced duration you would be gaining 700 life every 2 seconds

I was thinking like impending doom gemling legionnaire so you can use the support gem twice and try and get a curse to instantly expire

I also have spent zero time looking at what spirit gems quality does so that might be a thing as well
@ I’m deep into the idea of playing hexblast demonform which I’m leveling while trying to think of a way to play it with evasion so I can use ghost dance but I’ll let you know if I get to this
Titan would have lower total duration without the support than gemling has with the support, and it has better pathing.
you can just use curse ground-spell echo to force expire curses, Snyo has a video about this mechanic.
I think the infernalist with the node that changes mana to infernal flame. It says when you reach max flame you take fire damage, and if you combine it with barrier invocation, then when you take damage you will cast a spell (say comet), take fire damage, trigger ghost shroud, regen es, cast comet, comet gives more flame, you reach max flame, take damage, rinse repeat. Congrats you made an auto castor
Barrier invocation isn't auto cast
Frost bomb double dips from reduced duration and reduced cooldown. It's ticks and pulses are based on its duration.
Any support that adds more damage with a cooldown gets much stronger with this.
Currently playing LA/BL deadeye from Fubgun but with ES and CI tech and running ghost dance. Feels insanely nice.
Is it nice to scale es with ranger tree?
@@tronic774 it's close enough to good ES nodes, but it will definitely have effect on dps if you go for them, to compensate you'll just have to get better weapon/quiver

I use this tech with my invoker. This and grim feast, high evasion chest and Ev/Es gear for the rest. There's a node near monk start that gives increased ES after charge use. I don't have duration ANYWHERE on my tree. The double evasion on chest is a must. It works as part of layered defense. This works for invoker because it fits what most builds already path.
How does it works when u have overflow energy shield? ghost shroud says it trigger when hit, but u already full on ES when hit if overflow.

Pretty sure hammer of the gods would feel alot better since the time it takes to hit is scaled off skill effect duration. Grenades is probably the most realistic tho.

Ever since i started using ghost dance, my mapping has gotten better.
Tbh this investment isn’t worth, one less duration gem is fine considering your scaling evasion to get value out of ghost in the first place.
To make ghost dance actual valuable (having a large amount of evasion) you won’t be getting hit 5 times in a row. (You have 5 ghost dance charges at lvl 18)
Let’s say you have 25k evasion 1.2k es
(My current build)
.05 * (25k) = 1.25k @ 90% evade chance in a t15
To get hit 5 times I would need to have around 50 attempted hits on me. (It’s worse then this with losing evasion multipliers when hit) but let’s say even 30 hits would be a huge amount within in the refresh period.
The only place I could see this as valuable would be some ci ev es simulacrum farmer whose skills scales insanely well less duration (does not exist yet) (though invoked could be spicy with juiced gear)
I think there's a sweet spot with lower evasion and this tech, you want to be getting hit enough for this duration to matter, but have enough evasion to meaningfully recover from that hit.
Panzerfaust has a sick build utilizing this tech to the max. It's great looking tbh!

Living bomb from staff skill
I think the obvious answer to this would be stun grenades and hammer of the gods. 400% stun build up means you can instantly stun in a very large aoe with deacent damage scaling, meaning you can instantly break armor for the armor break ascendancy of Titan, making the clear insane, and then consume the armor break for big damage on the hammer of the gods. I have no idea how well it would scale, but it should at least be a strong mapper.
Ember Fusilade maybe to instantly throw out the embers?
Yep! With 80% reduced duration it would take .25 seconds to fire
except ef deals too little damage to be actually viable, at least, as far as my testing goes

I went for a lot of ES recharge + recharge rate combined with freeze/chill so you have the opportunity for your ES to recharge to max within 4-5 seconds of not taking any damage
That sounds like a horrible way of playing, in poe2 everything is always trying to kill you so 4-5s is way too long

currently got a build lined up for reduced duration, didn't know ghost dance even existed didn't really factor in going evasion and likely wont considering being on the wrong side of the tree and not being able to path over to evasion stuff seems not ideal for the build i'm gonna do.
currently my build is gonna be living bomb (staff skill), getting that seed duration much lower then you can cast the spell is ideal. it's got a 0.6 cast time, which is pretty quick by default but with good cast speed rolls that can be much lower. that will be the main skill, along with cast on ignite (i think) ember fusillade. with 80% reduced duration the volley will fire off only after 0.26 seconds have passed so pretty much anytime cast on ignite procs ember fuillade will be cast and fire off as well with bursts of ignites adding to the sequence and after a very short window will start to fire off.
then you got normal weapon swap tech with curses for huge -50% resistances. i think the build has like 50% - 70% fire pen as well. so the enemies effective resistances for hits will be 0% for most enemies/rares and -50% + expose for bosses.
oh someone brought up time of need =ooo i'ma steal that for life recovery that's nice!
Note that penetration applies AFTER resistance reduction from curses and/or exposure. And it can't go negative. So if you're cursing enemies, your penetration is likely doing nothing for you.

@@rocksfire4390 Alternately it makes penetration less useful. Cos penetration can't take them to negative resists, but curses and exposure can. So min maxing would involve strengthening them and not using penetration. The advantage of penetration is that it's a lot more passive and automatic, not manually cast. But it caps out, so it's not as powerful.
If you're scaling less duration you might as well run Time of Need as well

Temporalis could fix frost bombs cooldown. Does reduced duration also scale other buffs with similar text like time of need? If so I could see some interaction involving that + barrier invociaton autocaster.
@@gabrielsmith3993 that was my first thought too as a way to sustain barrier invocation self damage. Oh time of need is smart ! That has the same wording that should definitely work
Temporalis is by far the most broken item in the game and I think its price reflects that. If you go stormweaver you can get elemental storm cooldown to 0 so every critical hit triggers a storm which could be hundreds a second with eye of winter/rain of arrows. Then for further silliness you can use choir of the storm so every critical hit also causes a 0 cooldown lightning bolt effectively doubling your storms
Does Ghost Dance work with Mind over Matter (all ES converted to mana) ?
It would still only recover ES. You could still have ES with mind over matter if you had something that you gave you "Energy shield as extra" like the amulet that gives you 20-30% of your mana as extra ES since that does not get converted.

The quality from ghost dance currently doesn't do anything for the gem, in game. In poe2db it says it adds 0-2% evasion as energy shield when hit. So it should take it from 5% to 7% at 20% quality but it doesn't. I'm guessing it's bugged or that quality effect was removed?
@@jigushta oh that sucks. I'm sure it is just a bug. A few different skills don't seem to gain anything from quality in the current game but I just assume they haven't fixed them yet. I'll make a bug report about if there isn't already one
I been using this for awhile with fast forward, this also works with Wind Dancer.

@@thearchivespon4176 Bummer it looks like reduced/less duration doesn't scale the interval. It will let me put fast forward in the links if I give it a duration support like withering touch but even then fast forward doesn't affect the interval :(
It's cool that they give us avenues to scale a lot of different things. Tho I dont like that it conflicts with skills that want duration. People will definitely play OG ed contagion trickster when it comes out and it will conflict with that :/ ( I actually play it on chonk bcz I just cant wait that many more months for my boy 😂 )
Btw, I actually saw a guy on yt playing chronomancer with frost wall/frost bomb. He could just go evasion + ghost dance if its possible, that would be super nice.

It does! Pretty nice combination with ghost dance too since that keeps your ES full while time of need keeps your life full. Around 700 life every 2 seconds (80% reduced duration) is pretty good recovery in PoE 2
Heads up, if ghost dance is good it’s because you have a lot of evasion, if you have a lot of evasion it means you don’t get hit a lot. If you don’t get hit a lot you hardly use the changes you get with just the less duration support.
Interesting information yes, useful, no in 99.99% of cases.

yeah but it's weird because... like he said, most monk skills benefit from INCREASED duration.

@@danzdor yeah pretty much has to be something right side of the tree for enough evasion. Shame the other reduced duration cluster is so far away. Earthquake or grenades have the most synergy with this but the pathing on that would be near impossible

Is living bomb any good?
I haven't played with it enough to say but it is super synergistic with overabundance support since that has a 50% less duration on it so you could get the duration down to .2 seconds.
