Pod101 is great. I found learning Japanese is easy with this channel, and I've been slacking on learning Italian for a few months and I'm going in late october to a rural part of Florence so I think it's important. Also, I think whenever you go anywehere, learning a bit of the language is easy and also respectful, so thank you for this channel!

Italy is super cool. All of my grandparents are from there, including my grandfather's second wife who helped raise me.

Totally agree with you! I've been there several times and they are so elegant, fun to be around, smart and natural, it's just amazing! Not to mention all the magnificent places you can visit and there food which is simply out of this world! I am Serbian, and when I am watching tennis, I indeed root for my people, such as Novak Djokovic, but when there's no Serbian person playing, I am always rooting for Italian players. The same with other sports.

I looked up "Italian phrases for travel" on TH-cam, and this was about the fifth one that came up. The first four were pretty worthless because they took forever to get around to giving any actual phrases, or the ones they picked were not ones that travelers really needed. Thanks for doing it right!

Great video! I went to Milan for a conference last week. For the week leading up to my trip I watched about 25 videos from Learn Italian with ItalianPod101.com. I wrote down key words in a notebook that I thought would be useful and tried to learn them. It worked really well - I was able to have just enough words to use in almost any occasion, just to be able to say something rather than nothing, or reverting to English and hoping for the best. The hotel we stayed at did not serve breakfast, so every morning we walked to a nearby bakery/cafe for breakfast. I was chatting a little with the guys behind the counter who after a few sentences asked whether I knew much Italian language. The only phrase I could think of was "cosi cosi" and since I prefer to say something rather than nothing that's what I said. They really liked that I knew that phrase, but then told me it would be better in my case to say "poco poco" for "just a little". So that's my additional tip - poco poco. :)
