Tried one on in Munich a few years ago. A mere fifty grand back then. As you say ridiculously heavy but such a stunning piece. You’ll be opening your own C24 in no time at his rate! :D
This is easily my favorite Daytona. An amazing amazing watch. I love the contrast between the brown ceramic and the ice blue dial

Absolutely amazing watch. I had a chance to play with it, it was otherworldly
I tried it on a in 2013 (when I think it was first out?) and it did look even prettier than the pictures! This video is the prime example of why I prefer to see it in motion and being handled vs just random online photos. It was pretty heavy, but I think if I did have a good portion of money and could choose any (but only one!) grail piece - this one would likely be it!
Perhaps my favourite of all the Daytona's. Another great video Damian and I look forward to watching your next arrival.

Oh it's a beauty that's for sure, I'm thinking of a Monty Python quote with "you lucky lucky..." But as you say it sits well with the black and dark blue in the collection. Very nice.

Surprisingly i was able to try both this one and the Day Date at my local AD,
I was tempted by the Daytona but I chickened out as they were selling elsewhere below retail.
I chose to go for a white gold, blue dial and a Rose gold oysterflex instead, still regret not getting the Platona

Yes, the vertical clutch means you can leave the chrono seconds running all the time, and it has no harmful effect on the movement at all.

Ma786sai Dua tremendous are your videos. Mine is a 2006 D series solid yellow gold Daytona Ref. 116528 with the black factory diamond dot dial.
Awesome watch 💯 but my money would go to green dial yellow gold Daytona.

I tried on the 40mm platinum day date and thought it was unwearable due to the weight. Love the 'heft' of my 42mm yacht master but the jump to platinum is too much. Great watch through
I hear your (physical) pain - I too was surprised by the weight of this. Funnily enough it was snagging badly, and then I discovered a small transparent sticker on the inside of the bracelet that I had missed - removed that, and it felt fine.

Awesome video, I personally prefer the look of the steel daytonas but it is still nonetheless great looking and rare...... I cannot think of a better designed and executed chronograph throughout the ages..I sometimes think of making my next purchase the omega speedmaster professional but I'm always worried that it's not and never will be 'the' chronograph to own... Although you own a myriad of awesome watches, I can tell you're buying every single to impress yourself and not others (always the best philosophy 👍🏻)

I had a chance to buy one of these new last year for $64,000. ARGGGG! I didn't because I didn't like the brown bezel or brown subdials, so instead I got the 116500 with a black dial. I love it, but now that I see where the prices of these platinum Daytonas have gone, I'm really kicking myself. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait another 50 years for the next version...

My goodness, it's an ultra scratch magnet! Such a strange feeling, never been bothered with any of my polished watches before. But this, it's something that is supposed to stay in its perfect condition but I want to wear it at the same time.
I'm back with my smurf fever again with the Platona.
To a dealer 3 years ago and they had this watch in the case. I walked away thinking I can always get it later.

honestly speaking , beside the difference of weight between platinium 950 & 904L , u cant actually see the different between both metal in term of luster and shine properties ...i have both of daytona white dial & ice blue bought in Rolex retail store...and i feel like wonder whats make pt 950 so outstanding when it compare to 904L oystersteel bracelet...

I like that it is platinum, but i don't like this blue. I like the blue white gold verry much... but unfortunatly the bezel isn't ceramic
Rhodium dial stole the show. My all time favorite. Made Daytona look cheap

Damian. strike whilst the. Iron is hot to rectify your faux pas: Tell Laines you'll order a 228206 Platinum Day Date 40 now, if they'll knock off the combined RRP increases (£2,500 + £2,900) off it snd the 116506. That's £50.750 - £5,400 = £45,350..

@@TheWatchGuysTV I reckon you might like them a lot ;-) For most of us, though, is FPJ a pretty dangerous horse! I have twice came close to pulling the trigger on an entry level piece ("entry level" in this context being near to 30K!) but the 4 yearly service costs, which I understand to be so high as to make Patek servicing seem cheap, made me have second thoughts. It would have meant selling my 5296G-001 and at least one other major piece. An inner voice just seemed to say: "hey, this is quite simply above my league." (Also, the only AD for FPJ in the UK is Pragnell - a bunch of people that I really DON'T want to deal with ever again since they badly screwed me over after taking a deposit on a 5212A last year.)

Gorgeous watch but is actually fairly readily available in the US. That said, there are a lot of other more desirable watches for the price. In fact, instead of getting the platinum better to get the blade dial/white gold which is less $$ and easily as attractive.
