Hello Justin. Love all your videos and reviews! Now, in regards to the helmet and the weathering being printed on rather than being hand painted, it's not necessarily a "cheat" way to do this. I have experience working for former Galoob and Hasbro Toys in the mid to late 90's as a Designer on the Star Wars lines and, part of this technology which has significantly advanced since my time is the tampo printing process on toys (especially high end collectibles such as this). One of the most expensive phases of toy manufacturing is paint applications. With today's highly advanced tampo printing technology, it allows toys to have more accurate and more realistic deco applications. It also saves more money rather than having it individually applied by hand using a mask and spray paint operation. Also, with the tampo printing, it also allows for a good quality controlled consistency with the deco so all the figures will appear exactly identical. When I was working for the toy companies back then, the tampo printing tech was starting to evolve more and more and we were starting to discover just how much more we could do with detailed and intricate designs and deco applications (instead of having to figure out layers of different paints which would add up in manufacturing costs - thus leading to toys having higher price points). One such example of where today's tampo printing is super beneficial is in action figures' eyes. We are able to get a lot more colors and depth applied adding to the realism. If everything on a Hot Toys figure was still completely hand painted or spray masked, the price points of the Hot Toys figures would be much higher considering how intricate these figures are. Then on top of that, add the various materials used and we might talking a $250 figure that might be double the cost. OR, they would have to significantly reduce the number of paint and deco applications on the figure just to keep it within that price point. It's something we had to do all the time with Micro Machines Action Fleet toys and Action figures. This is why Hasbro Star Wars Black Series figures are quite high in price. It's the amount of paint operations to achieve more collector grade details compared to one of their more standard type SW figures.
But, in any case, despite my long winded babbling of information you probably already know very well of (sorry about that), I really love and appreciate your review videos. Moving forward,I REALLY hope HT continue with batteries for light up options in the figures forearms.Ive never used that feature since they released their first Vader.It is such a pain to swap out.But with this guy,it looks soooooo much better with just the forearm and I hope HT continue like this into the future as they evolve.
Commander Cody is one of my favorite Clone Officers. That’s because he is a brave, smart, and strong tactician and he serves under one of the greatest Jedi in the Order to have ever existed.
I honestly love the Clones more than the Jedi/Sith when it comes to Star Wars, Captain Rex and Jesse as well Commander Cody are the best! The Clones' deaths in Clone Wars season 7 was hard to watch man, lol.
The blaster rifle you labeled "Big-Blaster" was previously identified as the DC-15A but was recently changed to the DC-15 in the Star Wars Canon, although, I would wager both names are acceptable.
I wish that in the commander Wolffe figure he had the same shoulder antenna design as Cody, that would make it so much more accurate since they both have a shoulder antenna

The ground of Utapau is more a chocolate brown colored dirt. Different from Tatooine sand. Utapau also had a alot of big rocks. Cody did fight on the dirt of Utapau when fighting against Separatist battle droids and Crab droids.

My one complaint about Cody is I think his right arm should have a magnet. I had such a hard time getting it to stay on posing him. But I got it to work and I've tried 2 other poses to see if the arm stayed on. Knock on wood it has. I just got in yesterday from Sideshow I got two weeks to check him out because if it keeps happening I'll probably return him. As much as I don't wasn't to he's an incredible figure. Every day I'm going to test him by doing new poses each day. I still need to find that perfect pose.
Just got it today. Love this figure but I had a weird first reaction: “Holy crap, the old Sideshow Cody really held up.” Don’t get me wrong: This is way better once you take it all in. But right out of the box I almost felt like I was holding the Sideshow one I bought years ago - and which I still love
Justin's Collection plus, I eventually went back to look at the Sideshow one and it’s flaws - the incredibly loose armor and limbs, etc - really popped out. But it’s still a pretty good figure.
One of my most awaited Hot Toys release. I see it's a success, and i can't wait having mine. As usual great review, with relevant comparison and attention to details.
Missed out on the sideshow cody and didn't want to pay eBay prices, so this was an instant purchase for me! Glad I did because he is already rising in price already and sold out everywhere and already waitlisted on sideshow.
I preordered this the moment it was announced - in fact, I contacted my retailer before he could put it on his website. Super hyped. Now trying to decide if I want to order a second one. After seeing your comparison, glad I didn't buy any of the Sideshow clones.

One thing I really like is that the hand pegs come off and on nice and easy. My Anakin is like that to. But my Darth Maul I've broken 3 hand pegs on him. I had to buy some on ebay. Which was kinda pricy buy a second pair of hands to get the pegs lucky the guy was cool enough to trough in another set of pegs so now I have four extra sets. If I can get the pegs off were it connects to the arm it's easy. I fill a small bowl with hot water and the side that connects to hand comes right off. That's were they kept breaking. I wish they'd do the hand pegs like Sideshow.
Finally the review i've been waiting for, this means sideshow should be sending them out with the next month 🙏 i was so pissed that this one got pushed back so far and we got figures that were recently announced and came out before him

Just got him and what a great figure. The antenna snapped of after like two seconds of posing. I see yours did aswell at the end. It's the design I guess but still kinda annoying.
The only thing i don’t like is that the head looks a bit too big and too far away from the torso. If you look at images of Cody from the movie his helmet is lower down and smaller because the figures shoulders look too small for that size of head
I wish I had the patience to save up for one of these they are amazing but if I finally saved up I wouldnt know which to get general Grievous was also pretty awesome

I ended up canceling mine because I got annoyed of them pushing the launch back so much. I personally can say it is a lovely figure but for me I am glad I canceled because the wait would have made what came really not worth the wait and I'd have been disappointed in it.
@@JustinsCollection I think its pretty normal. When you pay a certain amount of money and wait all that time you want what you are now invested into to pay out what you put in. Though the Hot Toys Commander Cody is a beautiful figure and has a lot of interesting extras for me some of the issues are the base is a bit lacking, the paint besides the head sculpt are not weathered enough, it took an extremely long time and kept being pushed back for seemingly nothing, and its a bit smaller than I was expecting. The reason most likely is because between that time I got other figures in that I felt outshined the figure and in the end I kept comparing it to those that for a similar price I felt fit my needs in a figure better. To each their own but for me I just lost the love for the figure. Still a favorite character but I decided to get other stuff instead.

The rifle is a dc-15/dc-15a, and the smaller blaster is a dc-15s that's what I found at least.

I ended up canceling mine because I got annoyed of them pushing the launch back so much. I personally can say it is a lovely figure but for me I am glad I canceled because the wait would have made what came really not worth the wait and I'd have been disappointed in it.

@@JustinsCollection I think its pretty normal. When you pay a certain amount of money and wait all that time you want what you are now invested into to pay out what you put in. Though the Hot Toys Commander Cody is a beautiful figure and has a lot of interesting extras for me some of the issues are the base is a bit lacking, the paint besides the head sculpt are not weathered enough, it took an extremely long time and kept being pushed back for seemingly nothing, and its a bit smaller than I was expecting. The reason most likely is because between that time I got other figures in that I felt outshined the figure and in the end I kept comparing it to those that for a similar price I felt fit my needs in a figure better. To each their own but for me I just lost the love for the figure. Still a favorite character but I decided to get other stuff instead.
@@Dolfringme pay out what you put in? 🤣 he has almost gone up threefold in price. Size wise he is a 1/6th scale figure. Not sure what you were expecting with Hot Toys but clearly you didn’t do your homework.
