In the early 90s, Cruel Sea was the biggest band in Australia. Originally, they were pretty much an instrumental band until Tex Perkins joined them. In later life, Tex did a collaboration with one of my favourite musicians, Tim Rogers (from You Am I) but he's done a heap of that stuff. Try their song "Black Stick".
Do not know much about the Cruel Sea other than this funny song which had always liked when I heard it. They will be one of the support bands at some gigs when Cold Chisel do their 50th year tour later this year. Look forward to see how the Cruel Sea play live then.
Oh travelling down that rabbit can send you in all different directions….. the interconnections can send you in all different places….. and connected to this is Tex, Don and Charlie, and The Beasts of Bourbon….. but plenty of Cruel Sea to explore… enjoy another rabbit hole……
The Beasts of Bourbon were great! Chase the Dragon and Psycho are great songs. Live from the belly of the beast is one of the hottest Aussie live recordings
"and the ossifer said..." Laughed so hard the first time I heard this, thanks for checking it out :)
saw the Cruel sea open for The Rolling Stones in Brisbane in 1995
Also Tex was in the "Beasts of Bourbon" and "The Dark Horses". A very charismatic performer.
Glad you enjoyed it! I could see you chuckle at Tex's antics in the cop shop there.
Check "The Honeymoon is Over"
