      Is there any chance that you make tutorial where you will explain your process? I know that asking you to do that is too much, so I would appreciate even paid tutorial on Gumroad or Patreon.

      I recommend blender, of course :). All mesh modeling programs contain subdiv. So you can do this in blender, Maya, max, c4d, and even rhino 7. The process is actually the same no matter which program is used.

    Which we could have a tutorial on making construction drawings on these kind of forms, and if it already exist could you please send me a link ?

    • @UHStudio
      @UHStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are typically two popular routes : 1) convert/rebuild in Nurbs and bring the from in Revit and use as any other revit project for generating construction drawings; 2) Use Rhino with either make2d or projecting section planes via grasshopper and continue to modulate seperately. Neither method is perfect and separates the phases into design and documentation, where once documentation has started, any form adjustments would require re-updating the documentation. Yet, even more straightforward projects tend to be documented in such a way that design adjustments require documentation adjustments.

    • @UHStudio
      @UHStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much. However there is always a strong concept driving the 3d model. In this case it could be the growth and emergence of this building from the adjacent river. The. The process starts with simple ways to describe this concept and evolves iteratively. So it isn't that the talented zaha designers sit on Day 1 and come up with this, but it is more iterative process that eventually ends up to this level

    Thank you very much for the wonderful work, real patient and detailed work. As Maya is popular in architecture field for a while, and you also use Blender, do you use C4d also? Could you talk a bit about your idea of differences between these programs? Appreciate!

    • @UHStudio
      @UHStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maya, Max, Blender, and C4D are similar in the sense that they are mainly mesh-based modeling and animation packages. All four of them have subdivision modeling capabilities (as in the video above), and all four of them support constraints, modifiers, and and varying levels of non-destructive history. What can be done in one, can be done in any of the other packages. Also, each one has subtle strengths and weaknesses. Maya has amazing simulations engine and non-destructive history, Max is great with huge architectural scenes, C4D has a great modifiers system, and Blender has a fantastic modeling workflow. The only reason Blender is not more popular within architecture is because not that many people know about it, but hopefully this is changing slowly

    • @UHStudio
      @UHStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The workflow for creating this model would be exactly the same with Blender 2.8+ as it is for Blender 2.79. The only change would have been the UI. The base hotkeys are the same (loop cut, bevel, etc) and the UI can be adjusted as shown in the video to have references. Perhaps the only significant difference could be the collection layers so the model would have been organised slightly differently.

    I love maya modeling and know it well, but I think blender has a better toolset for modleing or no? Especially for hardsurfaces

    • @UHStudio
      @UHStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blender has the modifier stack but maya has history so both are excellent for modeling. I prefer blender, as it is more intuitive to model once you get used to the interface.

    Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. A question: Do you think the same kind of modeling would be achievable with rhino 7 (WIP) subidv, and if so would you recommend it compared to Blender ? I would really like to hear your thoughts on this.

    • @UHStudio
      @UHStudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt it will be as good since the toolset in blender/maya/max/c4d has taken a few decades to be where it is today, so Rhino has a bit of catchup to do, but I also don’t think they will probably be replicating the exact workflows as the more traditional 3D suites. But time will tell what’s possible.
