A year later I love watching these high end breaks stuff I can never afford
I'm glad I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's when I collected my cards. I think the cost of buying cards now is insane. I remember paying someone 10 cents for a Mantle card which I still have now. If cards suddenly became worthless there would be very few collectors. Most people are in it just for the money.

@@JackChiefton room for both, just unfortunate that prices are up so much. and the fact you can hardly buy retail because of resellers buying every damn thing that hits the shelf. I can hardly get my hands on anything retail near me, walmart limits two boxes per cust per day, target no longer selling in stores, walgreens never has a damn thing even when they tell me they are restocking next day.
It's really hurt the hobby. In fact, I have a hard time calling it a hobby anymore. It's more akin to gambling.

Glad I was able to watch this live. I saw the Ohtani out of 5 similar to the one you broke the other night sell on eBay. It only commanded $266. Pretty disappointed for a case that would cost 10k to buy. Another great break! Thanks!!

Not worth 10K or $250 a card, but fun to watch...
Their "value" is whatever somebody will pay for them. There is no real "value" to cards. They are pieces of paper
@@danmule4131 well we aren't on the gold standard anymore so this logic also applies to stocks and paper currency. There absolutely is "value" to cards at the moment.
@@andrewcornell3283 Based on gold and silver prices and all the other shit we buy in this world rising in prices we see the value of the fiat debt notes keep on doing it's things. Like everything the market will rule value which always changes. My guess is this package shown months ago would sell for less (could be wrong).
It's cool to see that more people today understand the ponzi schemes by central bankers compared to years and decades ago but considering currency and money is important to practically all humans I'm surprised that the vast majority doesn't care about how their fiat dollars are made.

Ryan was my next door neighbor in Philadelphia when he was a rookie, lived in the condo across from mine, in fact I believe the Phillies owned 10/25 condos, it was secure and secluded, gate guard, I believe they rented to rookies or just traded, Marty Bystrom lived a building over, back in the 80’s, I’m old

Oh yeah. They load these super expensive boxes with mid tier vets and prospects that shouldn’t be included. Garbage Topps as usual. They always do this type of crap. Especially putting $30 diamonds in cards to artificially inflate prices. They’re probably blood diamonds lol

I'll never forget the diamond icon 2019 pull of a booklet of 50 AUTOS! UNBELIEVABLE! Every Iconic H.R. hitter from the 20s to the early 2000s. The SIGNATURES were immaculate! Thanks for great videos Erik! You the man. With no sports on ERIK, I was wondering if u had thought about a tv show opening cards and talking about the players and baseball in general while opening a box. Have you been approached? I think it could work, really.

I’ll never understand how a second year players card like Luis Roberts is worth more than a HOF card like Frank Thomas. It’s not like it’s a rookie auto. It’s his 2nd year card and he’s literally done nothing of note in his career yet except get injured for the majority of his career so far. I’d take the Frank Thomas auto over the Luis Roberts all day.
Luis Robert was a RC not a second year card.
They’re paying for the idea that we *might* have a career like Frank Thomas. Just like stocks these days. You invest in a new company and pay as if they’ve established themselves up front. It’s all about gambling. Facts and reality be damned.

I love this channel. One of my go to channels for card breaks and jabs’ baseball knowledge is amazing, but 1:37:00 for a 4 “box/pack” break is hard to watch. I find myself skipping so much just to see the card reveal. Sometimes it’s over a minute just waiting to see the card. I love the channel, but please speed up the process.

Spent 65$ on a Padres tier one case break.. got $8 in cards.. never again buying these garbage cards. The feel and look cheap anyways.
@@kriscarman6428 You shouldn't just refuse to buy it again; Topps is all about luck, the autos, relics, who knows what you gonna get? Not even the dudes at Topps know. It's "randomly" inserted.
I have gotten 3 autos so far from this set...all cards for between 60-80 of players i wanted....all on ebay
@@hansenz I get that, but at the price you pay, the cards feel and look cheap. Which is probably why they dont hold much value

2020 dimond icon..10.000 a box u get 2000 -2500 worth of junk inside those cards are around 250 300 each then maybe u get a good one for 600
