I've got to say I've been impressed with Stearns' and Hefner's ability to develop pitchers like Manaea, Severino and Qintana into above average pitchers this year and am optimistic about the moves they already made this off-season. I think they learned from a few seasons ago signing Scherzer and Verlander to massive contracts and are probably better served developing lower priced pitchers and trusting their coaching staff. At least they can spend that money on solidifying the lineup and know that they can hopefully resign Alonso
I’ll pass for what they are going to want. Teams trading with us knowing that we are in need are going to try to rape us. Better to trade from strength. Our owner is persona non grata among the other clubs. They hate him like we as Mets fans love him and are going to try to stick it to us whenever at all possible. Again,I’ll pass and make some small trades on the fringes. I want us to build a dynasty and we are not going to accomplish this if we go for the quick fix sugar rush. Stearns is not creative, not aggressive. Good names coming off the board and the Mets are hibernating. Yes Soto is nice but this team as of now is not better, pitching is pitiful. What are we on a budget now? Is this Milwaukee? Nothing around Soto? Is Stearns Alderson 2.0? It’s like he wants to save money with rentals. Bad approach,
I agree we have the weakest number 1 starter between the top Nl teams Our top 3 batters aren't better than the Dodgers not better then the Braves with a healthy Acuna and neck and neck with the Phillies The Yankees have better starting pitching and There top hitter is better then ours
I agree 100 percent. Instead of Soto, I would rather sign Alonso, Santander, and PITCHING!!!!!! Soto is not worth 765 million dollars. He is a great hitter, no doubt about it, but defensively is an average defender.
I just went back and looked at tape of vientos....he's probably top 5 in baseball as far as being the worst defensive 3b in the sport....I dont known if he ends up playing 1b or not but he probably should DH...he can't play 3b for shit...I dont care what Stearns says and the fact he makes no money, he can't be the 3b next year.....
