What I was saying though is Star Wars expanding on touchy subject like death sticks and other coping methods used for severe trauma in times of war/conflict, allows for a very realistic look on the society in general, as commonly the only sorta addiction you see someone struggle with in Star Wars is a reliance on the dark side, and while seeing the protags triumph over the temptation of the dark side is exciting and engaging, maybe I'm speaking for myself but I could never really relate to them, but some guy on the street struggling with a death stick, or spice addiction is because it's a very real thing to struggle with regardless of if it's indirect or direct struggles.
