Nice layout! I like all the underfloor mounted gear. I will also put my 130L watertank in the front. and my 36liter waste water is underbody. So funny I saw today a video about a mercedes vario. and the title was the best build vario camper in the netherlands. And I saw many imperfections on that build and he was an experienced camper/caravan builder. Your build is so much cleaner and better in terms of materials.
Thank you for your kind words, Victor. We are very satisfied with our build so far. I can’t comment on the Vario build you mention, but it always comes down to personal preference, skill, time and budget...There are many good answers out there and it sounds like you and I are getting close to some excellent ones.. 😄
Danke Roland. Unser Ausbauer war Herr Kon,Ann von der Frima JOKO: www.joko-wohnmobil.de/ Wir sind nach wie vor sehr zufrieden mit seiner Arbeit. Viele Grüße aus Pennsylvania, Dirk

Very cool truck! It was really nice to meet both of you and your cat yesterday at the campground. I can recommend a few places to check out before you leave Florida if you are interested.

Great rig and layout. I've just bought an older model 1986 ex army unimog and plan on doing the same here in Australia. I'm not sure I like the electrics under the dining table though. I'd be putting water tight seals on those lids in case you have a liquid spill.
Thanks. I am not concerned too much about a liquid spill from the table, but I do share your concern from the boiler to the batteries that are below floor level. I am thinking of some kind of diversion or barrier, must in case there is a leak of burst pipe. Good luck with your build! Dirk

Interesting to learn where the batteries have been placed! I would assume that the engineers cut a rectangular opening and fitted a box beneath the floor panel of the camper box? How does this fit on to p of the subframe? Has the box been insulated from outside? Any additional info is highly appreciated...
Yes, the box is a cutout in the floor of the box, which sticks out of the bottom of the box. It is positioned slightly ahead of the rear axle in a place where the battery box does not come into conflict with the subframe or the Unimog frame. The box is coated, but it doesn’t look heavily insulated. So fat the lowest temp we had over night was minus 3 Celsius and the battery temp I observed in the morning was 13 C. Not sure if my Lithium’s have a built in heating circuit. The Boxmanufaktur made/installed the battery box.
i’m trying to find a shipper and customs broker to get a Unimog (1979) imported. The broker I contacted - awis.us - reached out to dot with pictures from the engine block and they said that the truck doesn’t fall under the 25 years category. Now, i’m really curious with whom you worked to get the truck imported and registered. Any help and ideas are highly appreciated.
@@wilhelmalmer6753 I used ivssuk.com/ for both the Puch and the Unimog and the experience has been pleasant. I have read that engine and gearbox need to be original to the vehicle to avoid issues. As this was the case for both the Puch and the Unimog, everything went super smooth. I would reach out to them and get a quote/advice. For both imports I dealt with Martin and felt to be in good hands. Good luck!
@@NOFOMOUNIMOG That was great advice! I reached out to Martin and he really knows what to do. Especially the part where he said is important that the truck is registered in the UK as motorhome. What I need to figure out is how I can get a temporary license in MA to pickup the truck from the port in the US. Any advice you can give is highly appreciated. Thanks again - it’s a tremendous help!!
@@wilhelmalmer6753 I drove the Unimog home from the port on my German plates. I had read that this is permissible on a State Department page, but can’t locate the page anymore.
