Naga was going punish him severely and painfully and duma thought what he was doing was best so him and naga fought and mila decided to back duma. They both actually managed to injure her but since naga had more supporters the lost. So saying his a punkass isn't correct whatsoever.

So for anyone wondering why Duma went mad, here's how. Shortly after the events of this memory prism, the birth rate of the dragons (in this world dragons are gods and Mila and Duma are dragons) falls and they start to show signs of degeneration. So on the advice of the dragon elders, including the Divine Dragon Naga, most of the dragons seal their powers into dragonstones and become Manaketes. The Earth Dragons do not (with the exception of Prince Medeus) and they eventually spiral down into madness. Due to Mila and Duma being away from the main continent of Archanea (where pretty much all the dragons and manaketes are), they do not know about this and so do not feel the need to seal their powers into dragon stones. So yeah, eventually, Duma did go crazy cause of that. If Mila wasn't sealed by Falchion, she most likely would've gone mad as well. As to why, the dragons eventually go mad after a while and why their birth rate declined, it wasn't revealed so far in Fire Emblem lore but I suspect it's because it's natural for the mind to eventually deteriorate over time and the fact that dragons live almost forever make them very susceptible to this.

@@StarStruckSolace Rigel was summed up fairly well in the title of the song when you fight Rudolph "Lord of a dead empire." Rigel was a place where the strong survived and the weak were tossed to the wayside. The faithful grew more and more powerful and eventually overshadowed and undermined the power of the Empire. Had it continued, it would become a place of no order. The only way to survive would've been to have joined the faithful (as Berkut saw) thus ushering in the new age of darkness and oppression that Jedah was pushing for, and considering Duma was completely gone mentally as we see in game, I don't think that would've gone well for anyone.

@@henrygutierrez3243 You are half right. The faithful were true to their god and that was their undoing as their god had gone mad. Yet we see Emperor Rudolf as he challenged both gods knowing madness swelled within them. Rudolf could have created a society in which man was strong but cared for but at the same time not pampered into depravity. However the ideal even mad god Duma wanted was true. The strong must rule the weak or if the weak rule the world itself will become weak and with a god to rule as well no one can cause infighting amongst a holy power much more than any mortal could hope for.

@@StarStruckSolace Rudolph KNEW he couldn't do it. He KNEW he wasn't strong enough and that he wasn't destined for it. He knew he couldn't defeat Duma despite wielding Falchion. He knew the Gods were going mad, and when his son was born with the brand he knew the gears of fate were turning. He knew Alm and the other brand bearer (whom he knew existed but knew not the identity) would finally put an end to the Gods' stranglehold on humanity, so he sent Alm off with Mycen as he knew he'd be a target of the faithful, just like Celica was for most of the game. That's why Rudolph didn't stand up to the faithful. It wasn't his position to do so; it was Alm's.

Tbh with the Echoes ends up panning out with the main story it's really a bit of a lose-lose situation for both Milla and Duma.
Zofia around the beginning and middle of the game was starting to become unsustainable without Milla giving constant blessings to help everyone go about their daily lives to the point where before Alm started heading The Deliverance the entirety of Zofia was nearly completely captured by Rigel. Milla's approach while a noble one ended up becoming a detriment to her side of the continent.
Duma's ideas with Rigel didn't go anywhere better also, the hardships that Rigel had to face lead to a pretty corrupt ideal for happiness to spawn in a majority of people. Sure everyone should grow up to be as strong as they possibly can but the way it ended up for the majority of Rigel was a constant lust to gain and seize more power which itself probably was the seed that caused Duma to go absolutely mad. It's painted pretty obvious with Berkut also with his lust for power constantly being taken away from him by Alm's efforts and going further into a depressed and mad state eventually hitting the limit by sacrificing Reina to Duma in a last ditch attempt to gain power.
It's sad that in the end the two never really made up and tried to take the best of both ideals and unite everyone as a whole with it. Though on the bright side with Alm and Celica going about their separate journeys and eventually reuniting by the very end the ideals did eventually come together in the form of working to help others. A very basic ideal and one I probably just boiled down to a sheer basic summary but it brings together the strength Duma wanted to bring everyone up with and the compassion Milla wanted to share.
It's really kinda sad though that Milla and Duma never realized this until their inevitable demises.

MrAuthor3DS We also see this with Celica's father Lima. Its noted that he was personally raised by Mila (presumably his parents died young for whatever reasom). And he was hedonism personified.
Mila blessed the lands but the people grew meek and lazy. Duma gave them opportunities to struggle and excel but in the process they became hard people who defined themselves by power in all of its myriad forms.

The problem with Mila is that she spoiled the people in Zofia so much that King Lima was pretty much kidnapping women to add to his harem. Everyone became lazy and relied too much on her blessings. Mila didn't discipline the pleasure-seekers so they took what they wanted.
Duma's flaws seem more up-front simply because he lacks the compassion for humanity that Mila seems to have. His people may work hard to earn their fruits, but a lot of them suffer along the way (Which makes me wonder if that was the reason why Saber said "Fuck it" and ran off to Zofia).
I can definitely see the folly in their plans.

I mean if I was forced to pick a side I would pick Milas because I feel that Zofia overall was a happier kingdom than Regalia. Interestingly, Duma and Mila can be compared to Capitalism and Communism.
With Communism, people seem overall happier, but they don't really want to work, and as soon as Mila stops providing, it all collapses on itself.
Capitalism appears self-sufficient and functioning, but it can get out of hand with companies trying to sabotage each other (instead of improving), and shamelessly milking their customers by selling loot boxes and overpriced DLC for content that should've already been included in the main game (like FE Warriors selling Owain, Oboro, Niles, and Navarre separately, even though they're already in the main game).
Luckily, many countries use a mix of both sides. On one hand you need people to work, but on the other you also need to lend a hand to people when they're in trouble. Neither side is correct, both are flawed. We just need to find the right balance between them.
I personally believe that we're currently leaning way too much towards Duma. Whenever a product doesn't sell "well enough", it gets discontinued. I'm not saying companies should sell at a loss, but I don't see anything wrong with keeping diversity as long as it doesn't incur any losses. It's just sad to see a product disappear just because we happen to have another product that makes twice the gains.

Both were right, but they never made up with each other. None of them realized the damage they did unto Valentia, they both had pure intentions, but it took a wrong turn and went south. Both were right on the Pros and Cons of their methods to happiness. Yet until their demise, they never realized that (A) Humans have learned how to live without their blessings. (B) They were doing more harm than good and didn't realize it until their demise. (C) The Divine Accord would never be eternal because Rigel saw Zofia as a country in ruin and felt their ideals would help the Zofians survive, but the Zofians saw the Rigelians as war driven mindless men who knew no love or happiness. Despite those things, reading the memory prism made me cry (no joke)

such a shame they could never learn to cooperate. While their madness was inevitable, I think the way that so many members of your army show respect for Duma, even during the final battle, tells that the two definitely had a place in Valentia, and I'm sure that if they'd compromised in their ideals, they would've had a far less toxic relationship with the humans they ruled over and maybe longer lives in the end.
Overall, I really appreciated the story's efforts to give these two some character depth, it really sells the conflict as the tragedy it is

Obstacles make people learn and grow; misery is a whole different matter. It's a state of constant hopelessness and pain, it's a destructive amount/kind of suffering and should *never* be praised, which Duma does. The point of society or technology is allowing people to work together so that misery is no longer a thing, and the challenges and obstacles that people face are different and lead to productive results.
Anthropologists associate the first sign of civiliaztions to a trated broken femur, because that means that a group of people cared after its "weakest" member, allowing them to survive, and possibly express their strength in another way, because strength comes in various different forms (for example, even creativity is a strength, and it allows for advancement and therefore survival of a society). Had they been like Duma (i.e. "lulz, treat your femur and get up yourself, that way you'll gain strength"), the person would have likely died, and any form of strength different from physical endurance that they detained would have been lost. Progress is measured in that, in as much misery the members of asociety can be spared by the existing tech and supporting networks. What even is the point of anything, if not improving one's own QoL?
A hypothetical future in which people don't have to work mundane jobs and in which illnesses are easily healed and everyone has the right to that doesn't mean that challenges disappear, it means that people can take on superior challenges and truly express their strength. In fact, just because you take the challenge to a superior level (i.e. not gritty stuff or tribulations) it doesn't mean stuff is being handed to you. It means the challenges can give you room to reach higher peaks than you would by having to fioght for your food every day. It means progress. This extendes to everything; even in science, the fact that, say, Physcists don't run the number themselves and let computers do so just means that they can focus on higher challenges (i.e. understanding how tf the Universe works).
TL; DR Duma's point celebrates misery and discourages cooperation and caring after each other, because his idea of obstacles and challenges is way too narrow--but this discourages progress and promotes strife. Mila is on a more progress-oriented path, but doesn't allow for progress anyway because handles every aspiration to everyone on a silver platter, and leads Zofia into decadence. Had she limited her blessings to things needed for survival, people would take on higher challenges in life, and Zofia would have developed higher forms of knowledge, art, tech, magic, and what you have.

I guess they missunderstood each-other. Duma and Mila saw that humans have hardships in their lifes and they wanted to help. Mila wanted to make people's life better by giving blessings and Duma wanted to prepare the humans by making them face their problems and deal with them. But Mila thought that Duma wanted to make their lifes harder and that miraculously the humans would become independent and strong and Duma thought that Mila wanted to make the humans live like in a fantasy world thanks to her powers which is indeed foolish because Mila should know that eventually she would inevitably become mad and destroy everything she worked for. And because their ideologies were so separated, they just couldn't understand each-other, they thought the other would do the exact opposite of what they wanted to do and that it would backfire on them and the humans. So I guess their problem wasn't really that they couldn't reach a middle point because technically that's impossible for them but they couldn't work out ways to decide which ideology would be good on which situation.

While both philosophies are flawed, I find Duma to hold much more ground here. We see the effect of Mila's blessings in three cases: King Lima IV, Desaix and Slayde. Lima especially was driven to utter depravity, and Mila never batted an eye. If she cared for her people, she'd stop Lima's ruthless harem practices and insert a GOOD king.
Besides, it's implied Mila would have Celica's soul for herself if she found out about Celica's Brand. Literally no different than with Duma and Alm, and it's painful how the game paints Rigel and Duma as 'evil' when some of the nicest and most genuinely heroic people in the game are Rigelian, such as Tatiana and Halcyon.

IDK, by the time of the modern day it's likely Mila's going mad just like Duma(though it isn't addressed nearly as much) so it's not surprising Zofia is screwed up. Game isn't really clear in addressing a lot of points but Rigel's leadership is screwed up too. Hell, Rudolf despite having good intentions has one of the dumbest plans imaginable that leads to a lot of pointless death(here, loyal men, go throw yourself at my son who I'm hoping will beat you so he can kill me!) and causes Berkut to go nuts, while ignoring massive issues like the Duma Faithful.

    • @aceblade10
      @aceblade10 7 ปีที่แล้ว +36

Kyuzeth the Grand The npc villagers in Rigel also mentioned that Rudolf was a kind king before Alm was born, showing a lot of sympathy to the masses. It's also seen from Rudolphs army that Rigel had strong comradery, showing that the people of Rigel understood the wisdom of working together, while also valuing personal achievements as well. You can see some of Duma and Mila' s utopia was formed in their nations (Rudolph and Celica respectively) but was clouded over by the grief and unfairness brought by their Ideals (Duma Faithful and Royal hierarchy)

The issues was that it wasn't nearly as pronounced as Duma- Duma is the elder of the two, he'd been slowly losing sanity for decades now, and was just barely aware enough to give Rudolf Falchion before he succumbed completely- the Duma Faithfuls witches and corruption having existed for long was proof of his decay.
Meanwhile, Mila is presumably decades or maybe centuries younger than Duma, she had only just begun to sink into insanity.

Walmart was ultimately wrong though, despite wanting to erradicate the Naga religion in the end Naga saved the day, and she always has. She made the two Falchions, the Book of Naga, the time travel, and the Awakening. Without her toys humanity would have no chance against Grima, Medeus, or Loptous. Elibians didn't consider dragons gods because they knew for a fact they were just as mortal as them, something Alm failed to teach Valentia, Mila and Duma in their arrogance called themselves gods when they clearly aren't, and they admit as such in their deathbeds. But even if the world knew they worshipped false gods they still get saved by them. Elibians actually fulfilled what Walmart was saying, it was through man made weapons they kicked out the dragons from Elibe. Valentia, Jugdral, and Archanea used dragon toys.

When one is handed everything they need, it no longer seems like they themselves are living, it seems like you're just given things to live just because.
When one works for something, and it pays off, they feel accomplished, they feel like they've been of use, and did well. I personally don't see much in being handed everything, as it removes the trials that makes life so worth living for.
As for Duma, he has a point, trials and tribulations forge humanity to become stronger, and it grants them experience. For Mila, too much suffering would lead to nothing more than pain and depression. She seeks to be something like an actual mother, she doesn't want to see her children suffer needlessly.
In the same case, Duma is like a father, he thinks that his children should go through falling down, and getting back up, become strong through their failures, and learn.
    Tl;Dr
For Duma, pain teaches, and should be used for it.
For Mila, pain should not exist, and should be replaced with blessings.

Black Pants To be more specific the Metal Gear Solid franchise. After the events of MSG3. Big Boss with his vision of Outer Heaven and Major Zero with his formation of the Patriots. Both of which thought with their own causes could bring something significant to the world. However it caused a chain of events that nearly put the world to pretty much rely on War as a salvation to thrive on.

Nohrian Guy You have to beat the boss of the postgame dungeon. It's in that room and you can pick it up before teleporting out of the dungeon.

    • @Thefallenlife
      @Thefallenlife 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Heads up that dungeon is brutal, you cannot save at any point while in there. Only go with your best units and equipment, unless you hate yourself. (got to the 9th floor before my Alm got hit by that 1% crit)
