Fun fact Stu wasn't an actor he was just some it guy who was friends with director and dropped by the movie and they decided to add him. In fact he thought he was only going to play a small role in the movie untill he saw it on the premier. That s why Stu feels different then the rest , cuz he is literally some random guy.
Modern day classic. Fun Fact: Each of the main characters are similar to a vampire from a famous vampire movie. Petyr is analogous to Count Orlok from Nosferatu, Deacon reflects David from The Lost Boys, Vladislav is comparable to Gary Oldman's Dracula, Nick is reminiscent of Edward from Twilight, and Viago is like Louis from Interview With The Vampire.
BRILLIANT! There are so many subtle references and nods to 'Vampire Flicks,' that I can't help but want to check out the TV series. It's so well-acted and written. The Fact that Petyr burns via sunlight after 8000 years is ... JUST hilarious to me, and to that, the police cop's reaction to the dead Vampire Hunter ... too funny!
Ahh, I see. If I'm not mistaken, some cast members from the brilliant show 'IT Crowd' are the main cast members on the show. I might just check out some of the episodes 😊
An odd fact about this one, this was shot on a super cheap budget so they would borrow props from Weta Workshop, the folks who did all the effects for the Lord of the Rings movies. The benefit of working in a small country where everyone in the film industry knows one another! Another great review from you.
I saw WWDITS on Australian TV several years ago. I'm not a fan of vampire stuff in general but it stuck w me as being the vampire film I didn't know I wanted too see. New Zealand punching above its weight yet again.
So true! I guess everyone has seen their fair share of vampire flicks and how its gone off the rails with all sorts of representation, until this film just decides to go all out, amusingly and charmingly showing why we should care 😂
There's also a show of the same title created by Taika Waititi. This movie plays a lot like the show 'The Office' with vampires. Taika Waititi was an oscar winner for best adapted screenplay and was a great financial success
And also another show he created with jemaine Clement that is a new Zealand tv hit called Wellington Paranormal. Set in the same location as this film following the two police officers called to the house who are clueless. Officer O'Leary and Officer (it's Kyle) Minogue. Their chemistry is fantastic and like this film and the show of same name...the cast is great. Also features crossovers as all are set in the same world. Series 1 episode 5 is a particularly great episode. Especially for big fans of this film. They have episodes on zombies, aliens, ghosts, witches, a blob, Yeti And yes...werewolves and vampires. Enjoy.
When I meet new people I always tell them "if you ever become a vampire, please turn me" lol I know it sounds outrageous, but it was meant for meeeee. I have the lowest vitD my doctor has ever seen. hahaha Taika Waititi (Viago), Jemaine Clement (Vlad) and Rhys Darby (Anton, the leader of the werewolves) are all so hilarious. Jemaine and Rhys are both in "Flight of the Conchords". Taika and Rhys are currently doing the show "Our Flag Means Death" as well which is hilarious. Super clever comedy - would recommend both!
6:16 I like how the quality of life was so bad back in his days that his 16 is like our modern 35-ish, because back then you'd be lucky if you lived to be 50
This is one of my favorite films- particularly because I'm a big fan of the original Nosferatu and Dracula. And you are a doll! Please tell me you have an older brother? And I like the retro glasses!
love your reaction/commentary style! great job :) such a creative witty film, they looked like they had so much fun filming it. The series based on this film is really good too, maybe you can react to those too if you want to! There's also a spin-off series centering around the police called Wellington Paranormal, though I haven't seen it yet. Taika Waititi also directed a really great film called Jojo Rabbit, not sure if you've seen it yet or not. Kind of a black comedy about Nazis, Taika plays Hitler.
Thank you so much, Jane, for the kind words 😊 I love this film too, and am seriously considering checking out the spin-off show! Oh, I've seen Jojo Rabbit as well; I've become a massive Taika Waititi fan. He's awesome!
@@latenightswithsammy no prob! And yeah, I'm a huge fan of Taika too lol, everything he does is gold. I loved Scarjo in Jojo Rabbit, her character being killed off had me shocked and crying, I didn't see it coming. I liked how Taika sprinkled in those serious emotional moments in a black comedy.
YES! He's very good at commanding different emotions from an audience ... very much like Quentin Tarantino. Oh, and another thing that really made the showing that much more awesome at the cinemas was that I sat next to a Jewish family! They cried, laughed, and cried + laughed ... it was a surreal experience that made me really enjoy the film's approach to such subject matter 😊
@@latenightswithsammy oh yes indeed. He and tarantino are masters of their craft. And they have their own unique distinctive style. and wow, that sounds like such a great memory! So lovely you were able to connect and share that experience with them.
Agree and AGREE! The one thing I find with both directors is that they love the audience ... and love being them as well. So for me, a big part of enjoying 'Cinema' is with a captivated audience ... and that one instance of watching Jojo Rabbit will live forever 😊
Most of this film is improvised. There's literally hundreds of hours of filming, perfectly captured and edited into just 90 mins of perfection.
And that's why it's simply amazing! 😁
Fun fact

Sammy ...The series doesn't star the movie's cast (however they make guest appearances), but I hear nothing but good things about the show.

He deserves so much praise ... literally, everything he touches is marked finely with a stamp reading 'one-of-a-kind!'

@booty2k awesome! I'd have to check that out now! Thank you for the recommendation 😊
If you like the show as well check out the TV show, Wellington Paranormal, it follows the two cops from the film. So good!

Enjoyed watching that with you. Put "This Is Spinal Tap" on your list of 'Must See Mockumetaries'.
Yes! I watched that one about 10 years ago ... ripe for a re-watch 😆
I'm still watching the series now
Awesome! How does it compare to the film? Worth checking out?
Yes, the TV show is definitely worth checking out. Very funny -x-

AWESOME! The show has officially been added to the 'TV Tuesday' List! Thank you Patrick + Aisha for the recommendation 😊
@@latenightswithsammy you won't regret It at all. It's at the same level of the movie if not even better. The characters are hilarious

Great reaction! Taika it’s truly a genius, now you NEED to react to Hunt for the wildrepeople, it’s hilarious and heartwarming
