Andy's father was also named Andy-Andy Sr. -and he wrote his name on Woody's boot. The reason Woody is such a rare toy is because he's the only Woody doll that was ever made-just a prototype. Long story short, Andy ends up with a Woody prototype, the absolute only Woody doll in existence (the official line was never manufactured due to a new interest in space toys). So, honestly after looking through google, Woody is only one of a kind unlike Buzz who we see the isles are full of buzzes but there is only one woody doll and the whole collection was only made of only one each and that's it. Which made them super rare

I've been a paramedic for 15 years in a major US city similar to this movie. This movie is a classic in the EMS world. Jokes from this movie are thrown around in the EMS world all the time. I wouldn't say this movie is accurate. But it actually portrays the level of burnout and stress that Paramedics experience very well. The scene where Nick Cage's character is mad that his Captain won't fire him . Being so burnt out that you want to be fired, and the captain is so short-staffed with calls holding that they will never fire him no matter what he does. That scene is spot on. I've heard the joke "Ill fire you tomorrow!" said so many times at work. The desensitization, the Empathy fatigue, abuse of the system, abuse from patients, the actual critical emergent calls, and the BS calls. This move really get that all correct

20:48-Well, Willis O Brien made an unbelievable technique of miniature rear-screen projection? How does it work? Like normal rear screen projection but inverted. In normal, the actors are in front of the projection as it plays out. There are shots like that in the movie. But with the second technique, to make the stop motion puppets appear in front of the actors, Willis O Brian came up with a revolutionary solution. First the actors would be shot on a separate set. Then, mini rear screen projectors would be placed in the stop motion set! But instead of playing smoothly like a video, the footage would be played at a single frame at a time (film is just a series of photographs that give the illusion of movement. When they were on frame of the mini rear screen, the stop motion puppets of Kong and the dinosaurs would be moved, and the photo taken. Then, they would switch to the next frame on the reel and move the puppets again. It was genius, and it blew audiences away in 1933.

Very clever. It’s a nod to hamlet! I believe Buster Keaton liked to take highbrow art and turn it into slapstick version to prove a point! And he did it so well The haunted house is a nod to the opera Faust- which is the play the actors are doing within that film.

"Be careful or one of us will get hurt." Fun Fact: The shortest film on IMDB's Top 250 list. Family Affair Fact: The Girl's Father is played by Joe Keaton, the father of the star and director Buster Keaton. Hot Take Fact: Buster Keaton practiced for four months, working with a pool expert, to learn all the trick shots that Sherlock Jr. performs during the pool game. Nevertheless, it took him five days to film all the trick shots, and get them right. When he was finished, all the best trick shots he had filmed were cut together to make it look like Sherlock Jr. was playing one continuous game of pool. Action Star Fact: When Buster Keaton is running along the roofs of the moving freight train cars, he comes to the last one and jumps and grabs the tube connected to a water tower. His weight caused the tube to descend and, as it did so, water poured out and washed him on to the track with force, fracturing his neck nearly to the point of breaking it. This footage appears in the released film. Keaton suffered from blinding migraines for years afterwards and was unaware of the reason, until a doctor diagnosed him in the 1930s. The Rest Of The Story Fact: Many filmographies credit Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle as co-director of this film. Whether this is true or not is unclear. Buster Keaton did originally hope to have Arbuckle work as his co-director, but claims Arbuckle was still too depressed over the scandal that had nearly ended his career two years earlier and had become difficult to work with. Then Keaton went ahead as the sole director of the film. Doris Deane, Arbuckle's second wife, later claimed Arbuckle directed the entire film. Historians disagree as to how much Arbuckle may have directed--which varies from none to as much as half.

Coincidentally, I just recommended this film to another reactor yesterday, in answer to a question. I think this is the first movie meta in which a person watches a film and goes into it (albeit in their dream). It’s brilliant, and it shows how far ahead of his time Keaton was in thinking about the creative potential of film. I saw this in Washington, DC, in the late 1970s in the traveling film exposition, “The Silent Clowns,” and have seen it a couple times since. I take great joy watching your reaction to these silent classics, not only because you are one of the few reactors who watches them, but also the only one with the film knowledge to comment intelligently about them.

An excellent beginning to a new year. You can never go wrong with Buster Keaton. Once again I'm going to suggest you watch Sergei Eisenstein's masterpiece, _Battleship Potemkin_ (1925). A dramatization of true events that took place in 1905, it is hugely influential film and is considered by many to be the greatest film of the silent era.

Late, but your question about aircraft shots. They used stock, PR footage of B58s. This had less cooperation from the US Government than Dr Strangelove. But you missed the ending completely. Blackie did drop the bomb, and then he ended himself. Eye for an eye, to prevent a full exchange.

At that time, there was a movie code that dictated crime does not pay. The criminals can't win. You were reminded of Christopher Nolan, but I have always considered this movie to be the forerunner of Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction". Which was also a story told out of time sequence.

British technicians reigned supreme throughout cinema. Krull cinematography was done by Peter Suschitzky, who also shot a few years earlier Empire Strikes Back. Beastmaster was shot by another legendary British cinematographer called John Alcott. Alcott shot Stanley Kubrick's 1975 film Barry Lyndon and also a Roger Donaldson film called No Way Out.

Hi Sammy, I enjoyed your reaction to TheCircus. Back in the 1970s a very close friend of mine was bitten by the Chaplin bug. She asked me why I never told her how good Chaplin was, I responded "I thought you already knew" well she proceeded to acquire every Chaplin film documentary and book. And she met her future husband at one of those conventions. I think I've seen every Chaplin Film and Short. The Circus is very high on my list of favorites. I have two number ones. For shorts it's One A.M. from 1916. For Films it's the 1947 Monsieur Verdoux, which also moves into new territory. Happy New Year my friend Jacques Mexico retired

I was a New Yourker at the time this and Strangelove came out. The general attitude among New Yorkers was we understood the concept of the choice but given that the actual populaton of Moscow at the time was so much smaller than New York City's was, and given also the much greater contribution to our respective nations GDP in real dollars, the choice of New York City being a fair trade for a 3rd world city like Moscow was pretty insulting to New Yorkers. .We felt that someplace more equal to Moscow, like Spokane or Kansas City or Fort Lauderdale would have been a more equal exchange. Of course some felt Baltimore or Boston were better choices. And since it was a Hollywood produced movie, why not Los Angeles? That was how most New Yorkers felt about this movie.
