I felt a new PB coming today. This was also my first transition from a level 29 start, it caught me a bit off guard. GG! EDIT: Beaten with 707680 • 700k from a 29 start
from a non-tetris player perspective, the speed of your reflexes needed to actually react to the type of piece and get it in the right spot blows me away every time
Well for us tetris players the placement itself is almost instant and by modern standards this is quite slow, the difficulty comes in tapping fast enough to the piece over to where we want it.
Using Eric's calculator, this would have been 889,360 points after the L29 transition. The game would have ended on level 49 with 434 lines, with the final Tetris in level 46 worth 56,400 points.
Can you explain why the score change to 889k in different condition? Starting at lvl 29 change the score somehow? Sorry im just not familiar how this works :/
@@tanjay8507 Imagine these lines are AFTER the 230 lines people usually play - levels, and scoring potential, start incrementing by every 10 lines after 130 lines on a level 18 start, practically indefinitely*, unlike here, where it stays static until 200 lines. *Until level 96 or EA (2190 lines), which lasts for 800 lines
@@tanjay8507 when you start the game at a particular level, you do not level up until you "catch up" to the number of lines necessary to reach that level. For example, to reach lvl29 naturally, you need to clear 230 lines. When you play the game normally, it doesnt speed up until you have already cleared 230 lines. At that point, every 10 lines, you level up, meaning you score more points. When you *start* at level 29, you will not level up until you have already cleared 230 lines at that incredible speed, which no one has done before. The only way (until now) anyone has gotten to level 30 is by starting at level 18 or 19, playing the game normally until 230 lines cleared, and then playing kill screen where you level up every 10 lines. Oh, and your points are multiplied by your level, so if the guy in the video actually played a casual lvl19 game until 230 lines cleared, and then what we see in the video happened, he would have been leveling up every 10 lines, multiplying his score by higher level numbers. One wrinkle is, these lines numbers where you level up change based on which level you start too, so it gets really confusing.
Maximizing scores post level 29 instead of the number of lines just makes so much more sense, since scoring should be the ultimate goal, and that it entails a different approach to risk-taking. I want to see players like you succeed in the next CTWC!

most of this good guys cant take a pressure of the big tournament. honestly i think the guy who can hande nerves will win. and who its gonna be we cant predict. why fractal lost why eric(fastest hypertapper lost) and they lost their groups so easyly.
It’s wild that the boundaries of the game are continuing to be pushed IN THE MIDST of the world championships. Everyone recognizes the potential of rolling, but conversations around its viability and effectiveness have changed even from qualifiers to group stage, and will certainly change again for the top 8. What a time to be alive
Wowzers. I can't believe we have seen a transition to level 30 from a 29 start, and are talking about post-post-transition points, and now level 29 maxouts being a feasible thing.
By 2023, the CTWC will only feature lvl 29 start matches. I write this with a smirk on my face but it's not even that unlikely. Incredibly impressive, this is. What amazes me most is that you're actually building tetrises. I cannot fathom the ability to stack and have such board awareness while pieces are dropping this fast. Congratulations, absolutely fantastic achievement!
i doubt it, only featuring level 29 starts would limit the amount of players like crazy i think level 19 is more reasonable plus, they play on a mostly unmodified version of the game, so i think level 19 woul,d be as high as they would go

I’ve gotten to level 22 a couple of times on the OG GameBoy but that’s my max. That was many years ago. Today, my brain has to deal with input lag making it near impossible to even do that anymore let alone what’s done in this video. This is quite amazing to say the least.
Tetris newbie here. it seems you have the speed to play on level 29 and maybe with more risk taking( more resets also) you could get max out by incresing your tetris rate
@@WuvPain ok basically there was a tapping technique discovered very recently, which made playing on level 29 realistic. Before then it was called "killscreen" because players would basically instantly lose their game at 29. The current world record (by HydrantDude) is 1.6M and utilising this new tapping technique managed to get around 400k in the killscreen after an almost perfect rest of the game. This video also uses it, and is meant to demonstrate the capabilities of the technique. Hope this helped with understanding a little better
you will need every last bit of this training to defeat the god-emperor of tetris, tetristime
Lol
Isn't he playing Joseph in the quarterfinals?
or are you making a prediction ?
It’ll never be enough

its getting closer!
I'm so looking forward to seeing the max
Insane control and good job keeping calm
Will we get a light shout for a maxout maybe?
Best I can do is “lets go” with an inside voice

Wow this is great, loved the reaction at the end!
The level of consistency displayed here is amazing
Godly play, well done
Holy shit, this is the first i've seen someone setting up for tetris at level 29. Crazy how people are still evolving at this game
