One season mice ruined my garden. They were everywhere, in my planters and plants in the garden. I was so discouraged until I found a way to get rid of them... they're little green balls that you put out and it slowly kills them. My garden is now mice free. When I transplant to garden, I let my pods dry out a bit in order to get the hole pod roots and all. Your Urban Garden looks fantastic !!
I’m glad you got rid of them! I’m trying to avoid poison because of the chickens. I haven’t had any problems with pod rot. The soil in my raised beds dried out quickly. I am working on adding organic matter to them to help with soil retention. When I started them I used really cheap soil to save money. Thank you! Happy growing!
Thank you! Don’t feel lazy. It’s a lot of work and sometimes I definitely lay off the garden work lol. I should have started my fall seeds 5 days ago and still haven’t.
I follow them. I haven’t seen them pop up in my feeds. Going to go check them. I remember now the year the vine was growing way up in a tree. Thanks for the reminder!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead It always is today I was bonsaing outside and when I sit I have this little robin I named jack that visits myself evyerday right after I water and prune and sit down its so cute. I put worms out for him everyday too. 😗😁🤗 lol dont ask why.
Hey Asia! Your beans looks amazing....so green and healthy looking. And those mesh bags are very helpful. I use them on my sugar baby watermelons. I also planted some collards, Kale, carrots, turnips, Swiss chard, and Brussels sprouts in one of my raised beds that gets some shade and some sun. So far so good, however, we been in triple digits. Today and tomorrow suppose to be 109. Although i have all my peppers shaded...they still seem to be struggling in this heat. Thanks for sharing your garden harvest and those beans...I can't get over how great they look. P.S. you already caught 2 disrespectful mice...and unknown amount to go. I hope you can get them all!!!
Hi Elwanda! You’re welcome! All I had on hand was tulle but the mesh bags are probably much easier to get around the vegetable. I’m going to look into those. I’m just so glad it has worked and they are no longer destroying my tomatoes lol. Sounds like you planted a bed of yumminess lol. O wow triple digits doesn’t sound fun for anyone or anything. Stay cool. We are in the high 90s all week. I watered early this morning and only went back out to give the girls some watermelon. You’re welcome! Yep! There’s probably a lot more to go lol. I caught two more this morning.
I ended up buying a pack of 50 mesh bags off Amazon to put on my tomatoes because the birds were starting to get to them! Love the idea of adding the radish below the beans...maybe some carrot seeds? My friend says she just pops carrot seeds in all summer underneath other taller plants so I just went around this morning and did that also. We shall see, experiments LOL.
Ahhh thank you! I will have to check out the mesh bags. I never really had use for them in the past but now…o yes! Lol. Carrots are a good idea too! Thanks doe the suggestion. Good luck with yours. Happy growing!
I did this morning after getting a few comments on here and IG suggesting it. I’ve caught two so far today. Thanks a bunch! It’s taking a while but it’s working now.
Mice and rats love peanut butter. .... where i am we have rats sooo big that the Cats are afraid of them. I know there are people talking about being humane about getting rid of rodents but that simply not an option in a urban setting. So i usually put rat poison (crushed with a hammer) flour (enough to allow me to roll mixture into a ball) and peanut butter together... . The rat are unable to resist peanut butter..... The down side is that you cant control where they die...... yuck!😖
I have recently found that out. Thank you! The peanut butter is working wonders for this effort. Yikes! If the cats are afraid that’s serious! The humane way definitely did not work for me. I am staying away from the poisonous options because of the chickens.
I just found your channel and really enjoy your videos. Can you let us know what state and grow zone you’re in? I’m moving from Wisconsin to Arkansas and am trying to get a sense of what gardening will be like in a zone 8a. Thanks

It really is! You’ve harvested a lot. My peppers are ripening slowly. Are Anaheim peppers a sweet variety?

Love your channel! I had a huge problem with mice. Tried traps, mice bate nothing worked. Got me two cats and no more mice.
Thank you! Glad to hear you were able to get rid of your mice. Totally wished I was a cat person because I’d get one to keep them away in the future.

I set my traps with a dab of peanut butter. The mice seem to love it. Your garden looks great.
Thanks Virginia! I used peanut butter today and caught two so far. You’re right they do. Thank you!
You could do radishes or beets.
Thanks for the beets idea. Perhaps I’ll give them a try again. I’m horrible at growing beets lol.

Yes they are and grow best in cooler temperatures. I explained later in the video why I was trying it.

Have you considered getting a cat(s)? Besides killing rodents, the smell of cats serves as a deterrent.
Unfortunately I’m not a cat person. I wish I were.
an outside cat from the humane society will send them packing..even if the cat does not hunt them. they hate the cat scent, love and light,
Unfortunately I’m not a cat person. I seem to be getting them under control finally. It’s been a whole fiasco lol
Rats like meat, cheese and peanut butter. Get rid of that rat they beard every six months, and carry desease. Love your garden.
I’m working on it lol. They are smart or my traps are too small for some. I did catch two today. Thank you!!
Your are putting in the work in the garden and it is looking good. You will get those rodents together.🪴
Thank you! I believe I’m finally getting a handle on the unwanted visitors lol.
