I'm So excited for spring! Excited to see your growth as well. 2024 we all watched you grow so much in the garden and i thank you for sharing this with us! 🥂 to a prolific 2025! ❤
Hey there Asia! The neighbor's cat (in addition to them pooping) may very well be in your garden because they love mice, voles, and especially birds as they are natural predators(chickens may be too big for them but the do like the smell of the coop). Since you have them, they are attracted to them and they'll leave a "poop thank you." Cats may very well be attracted to the quail parts you are burying. They have such a keen sense of smell. However, they do love rich soil too! Your dog can be a deterrent to the cat but they can also be a nuisance in the garden. You'll have to consider some training. Your garter snakes are there because they love mice, voles, as well as decomposers in the soil. You have built an Eco-friendly environment! Welcome to the world of gardening! If you have access to dry, carbon leaves, feel free to use them in your chicken coop. They will love breaking down the leaves. A nice alternative to wood chips if not available! Making your own compost if possible is the best thing a gardener can do. Consider investing in building a compost system (could be simple pallets-TH-camr Joe Simple-diy) that will allow you to put everything in so that you don't have different systems for your amazing garden. When your system is big enough (minimum 3' x 3') and you'll create the environment in which your food scraps, garden debris, and even dead animal parts will cook the pile that animals will not go near it because of the heat. If you have problems with the neighborhood cat in your garden, unless you bury food scraps very deeply, they'll dig up your beds. It looks as though you have the space for a compost system (cedar lined with hardware cloth). I have access to a 3 bin system and I add to it during the year. Once topped (usually a growing year), I close it off (covered with hardware cloth). I start in the second bin! When that bin is topped, I close it off (covered with hardware cloth) then start the third bin. You can go back to the first bin for finished compost. Anything not broken down, add to the third. I never, ever turn my compost pile (too much work-decomposers do a better job). Check out the Joseph Jenkins book, the 4th edition: S--t in a Nutshell (I hate the title but the content is excellent). You may not be interested in composting human manure, but his content works for everything else you have! His garden is absolutely amazing! Also, check out Growing a Greener World-Joe Gardener! Thanks for sharing your content with all of us! It's so refreshing!
You’re welcome! I totally understand because I was the same way. As I think of them I definitely will! If you have anymore terms you need to know let me know and I’ll work them into the videos.
Shalom Ms.Asia, I pray all is well with you and yours 😊. Your beautiful natural sound affects was nice, all the wind and thunder. Thank you for sharing and being your beautiful humble lovely energy self👍🏼☺️. The garden lesson was on point. Be blessed, and have a beautiful amazing day. Shalom
The way you keep saying the name of that cart, they better be paying you 😆. We’ve had mild weather so far in Maryland, I’ve just lacked motivation. Your garden looks great!
Every year we get better and more knowledgeable. Awesome having your OWN compost. Just remember chicken manure can get hot in it's first 60 days. Also...if you sift some of the compost down mix with your castings and perlite and you have your seed starting mix (wont have to buy those bags anymore either). That will completely feed your seedlings indoors.
Hello Asia I enjoyed the video, I have 1 month to go before my Dr. releases me from my previous back surgery. I can't wait to get on ground and dig in the dirt💖💖😍😍🌹🌻🌱
Thank you for the video. Weather was beautiful here today. I’m in MD. I fertilized my orchard. Wish I had compost. Your broccoli is beautiful. I started late and it hasn’t formed yet; it’s just the leaves still.
I’ve buried quail & chickens that died. I placed then in the pathways or deep in the conpost areas, i saw justin rhodes do this and no problem. It helps to bury them where the electric fence surrounds the chicken run so other animals don’t dig them out. I also use a 4 wheel gorilla cart cause my 2 wheelbarrow kept tipping over❤😂
O ok cool! I’ve always done it too. I had two chickens pass and they are buried in my backyard. Lol totally believable. I prefer it over a wheelbarrow too!
Asia I always look forward to your videos. ❤ sorry for your loss. My son bought me acomposter last year for Christmas it’s miracle grow brand. I love it and you just add your stuff and water it’s great. Turn it a couple times a week. I suggest something underneath to catch that compost tea😂 also if I may suggest a if you do end up taking the compost down on the side of your house a fruit tree would look great over. Merry Christmas and happy new year 🎉
Awww I’m happy to hear that! Thank you. O nice! That’s an awesome gift. I hope you enjoy it. That’s a good idea but I really want a water catchment system over there…like a big one lol.
You've covered so much Asia- both literally LOL and figuratively. These chickens provide SOOOO MUCH! Thanks for sharing all you do- I appreciate ya! Happy New Year!🥳🥳
Thanks to you I am gonna start my taking my gardening journey seriously in 2025. I am gonna start a youtube channel and focus on Instagram too. We live in a townhome in zone 7B. An I am making next year my year.
I added 2 litter boxes w holes n the bottom and play sand. They use them, thank goodness. I put them under evergreen bushes. Occasionally I find one or two little poops in my beds now but not as bad.
I am so interested in the seed starting process. I have just about everything I will need, maybe can use more soil! So ready for the real new year (Spring).
You're so damn cute 🥰. I love the simplicity of your gardening style. It's beautiful and you've figured out how to feed your family's sustainability. Much love sister
Charles Downing walks on his beds and his garden is gorgeous. He’s no dig as well. Walk on your bed honey and you might I add do it barefoot for some grounding as well. ❤ Happy New Year!
i put worms in spring i add to my garden i crush egg shells and sprinkel in garden i also put coffee grounds in befor i rotatill my garden in end of march her then i add some other stuff
I found poop in my garden. Yuck! This is why I dont eat JACK until I wash it.I like working bare handed in the soil, but I have to constantly remind myself NO! 😅.Im working on that soil girl .I have 12 comfrey plants/ roots I purchased from the company you recommended. I love that for ME! ( Stealing your line 😅).I have some comfrey fermenting now.I have the cart with two wheels( you have to lift up on the back end. Thinking on it now i should have gotten something with four wheels🙄.❤
I think theres a mole and vole, thing you stick into the ground and it sends sound waves or something, and it disturbs them and they move away as they dont like it, not sure of the name of it though.
Yes, we use them in our garden. It is solar powered and it makes a high-pitched noise and vibrates whenever an underground animal comes near it, which scares them away
I just found your channel. I love how much stuff you are growing this winter. My collards seem to have stopped growing. I just switched from a large garden to 10 raised beds. Do you think your asparagus? How long have you been gardening?
That compost!!! Girl it is soo beautiful 🤩...Just a quick thought if you are going to be putting food scraps in the compost pile ... It may not be a good Idea to put it where the chickens are.... the reason is that sometimes kitchen scraps will attract rats or rodents. These rodents can also be a predator to your chickens. Where I have lived the rodents have attacked and killed my chickens before. Hope this helps
Hi- I put my quail and chicken droppings on my garden too. I let my chickens out in my garden during the winter but I’m in Iowa and it is 🥶 here highs in the teens. The chickens clean out all plants and weeds - it is immaculate when they finish😂❤. I wish we could grow during the winter. Love your videos ❤👍🙌
Hi Asia. I really enjoyed last year's Spring Me Please series, so I was excited to see it starting again. It was peaceful listening to the birds sing, and hearing the occasional ring from your garden chimes, while you worked in your garden. How awesome to have that goldmine of compost from your chickens. Enjoyed the video❤.
Happy holidays ✨ So I definitely do the lazy composting and just dig holes in a designated area of my beds to drop kitchen scraps in . Ive noticed that you definitely have to go heavy on the browns though if your native soil is super rich , I even get those free coffee ground from Starbucks . But I would love chickens to do the work for me as well though lol . . . And I feel like I shared this before but I use the black cloth weed barrier just a bed cover to keep the cats out , or if a bed is empty I literally cover it with anything old sheets etc .. just make sure you remove where the cat is pooping immediately cause they go in places they can smell their scent they’ve left .
Hi Asia Happy new year, Happy gardening I have to do that same job on my beds but as you said keep putting it back, I’m in Barbados, keep warm Asia, we are getting some cold nights now it’s good because we get more heated days and warm nights through the year, have a lovely New Year’s Day with your family and friends ❤❤
Cat poo and cat spray can seriously harm your garden.I bury my chickens in my garden if something happens to them,or scraps after butchering.Great for soil. Also, I believe I got the idea of over wintering my Pepper's from you.I couldn't remember exactly what you said to do,so I'm experimenting.I dug up six,put in pots, cut just above v,watered and stuck in west facing window.I checked them today,my gosh they're budding out everywhere, many leaves.January and Febuary are coldest months. If they keep going in house, they'll be huge by our last frost.Do you know if this is supposed to be happening or do i cut leaves off?I think it's pretty cool anyway.😊
Yeah I know 😩. Same here! O yay! That’s exciting. Mine are doing the same, I’m pulling the leaves off right now. I’m so excited! I answered before I finished reading lol. I’m removing my leaves.
What kind of "brown" material did you use in the chicken yard? Wood chips? Im trying to bulk up my chicken run bedding to make more compost like you have here.
Thank you for such a great video! I love that you explain these terms as you go along and show how gardening can be done both easily and affordable 🌱
I love the chirping of the birds. Awesome video as always.
This is beautiful. I'll pay the bills you keep growing that food
"I'm not procrastinating, I'm thinking it through" 😂😂😂. I'm def stealing this!!! Happy New Year to all the family.
I'm so glad you're doing this series again😃

Same here! Awwww thank you! 🥂 to you as well!
Your smile gets me every time! Just brightens my day!
Yep simple is best ! Don't overthink it ..just do what works best for you . ❤
Totally agree!
Whenever i have lost one of my chickens, i definitely compost them.
What fun!!! Love what you are doing in your garden and how fun you make it!! CaliKim
Thank you for sharing this information. If you sprinkle red pepper around it will help with the cats.
Absolutely great video, Asia. Looking forward to the series. I am in zone 9A.
I live in VA too, and these warm days are making me even more eager for Spring...though next week is going to be in the 30s. Ugh. Nature's a tease.

My only problem with black kow is the price, I also just dig a hole and put in my scraps works for me
That compost looks amazing 👌🏾
I like working out in the rain too ❤ As long as it’s not a heavy rain or Thunderstorm.
Thanks for explaining side dressing, didn’t know but ashamed to ask. Thanks please keep sharing as you think of things… I’m learning 😊
You’re welcome! I totally understand because I was the same way. As I think of them I definitely will! If you have anymore terms you need to know let me know and I’ll work them into the videos.

5:28 stopping here for a second. The only thing that I’ve ever heard about composting meat is that it takes longer to breakdown than everything else.
Yeah like I have a community compost system in my area and they let us compost meat.
Hey family! 🙏👏💐❤️
I love your chicken/compost idea. I was thinking of doing that too.

Put out mirrors for the cats to make them think it’s another cat. That’s what I’ve been doing to keep them out my yard.
Haha 😂 i get you there. I dont put alot of thought into most things, just as a rule.
Burying has worked well for me. It only takes a few months to compost.
Thank you for the video. Weather was beautiful here today. I’m in MD. I fertilized my orchard. Wish I had compost. Your broccoli is beautiful. I started late and it hasn’t formed yet; it’s just the leaves still.
Thank you for sharing your gardening knowledge. You have a great garden. Sorry, but I had to judge you.

Sprinkle used coffee grounds. It’s fertilizer and cats don’t like the smell.

Lol we don’t get a lot of snow here. Stay warm!!
I love the series! Can’t wait !
O yay! I’m excited to share!
My City just passed an Ordinance where residents can have live chickens. I'm really thinking about it
O that’s exciting!! I wish more city would do that. If you get them let me know! I love having them.

My word was 'leggy' when I first started gardening LOL I was like whaaaaat?!? lol
I have one but I covered it 🤦🏾♀️. I need to cut a whole in my landscape plastic and probably add a few more. Thank you for the comment!
How many do you have in your garden? I only have one and I need to uncover it 🤦🏾♀️.
I just found your channel. I love how much stuff you are growing this winter. My collards seem to have stopped growing. I just switched from a large garden to 10 raised beds. Do you think your asparagus? How long have you been gardening?

I read that cats hate pine cones eggshells lavender and coffe grounds to name a few deter cats from your garden
Very pleasant and inspirational video Asia, thanks for sharing 👍 ❤🙏
I 100% respect the chicken boots.
Hello from Baltimore! Came across your channel and you bring me joy! Cheers to a prosperous growing year ❤🌱
YAY you’re back
Hey!! Yeah I’m back. Took a little break after the holiday.
Hey girl, hey😀
Awesome video, Asia!
Hey Elwanda! Thank you!! So ready for spring!
Youre my favorite gardener on youtube.
Wheelbarrows are evil!! They fall over everytime I try to push them around full of stuff 😂 I'd love a cart with 4 huge wheels 😊
Hi Asia thanks for sharing what you do!
So sorry to hear about the Quail. I lost my rooster and hubby & I decided to cremate him and let him fertilize the spring garden bed.
nice video i wish i could start mine but to early
❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing.
Nice compost... looks super rich.. Have a fantastic New Year!!
Gotta love free compost!
Oh wow love what you have done on your property I hope to have a homestead one day too. 😊 thanks for sharing.

Cat poo is definitely bad for the garden. Their feces carry parasites. Love your garden 🪴
Hi Asia thanks for sharing ❤
I laid chicken wire in my flower bed to keep the cats from pooping there. I was told that If they can’t scratch, they won’t poop. 🤷🏾♀️
Ahhhh ok thank you for the comment. I may try that!
Ever looked into bokashi composting?
I haven’t but I’ve heard of it. I need to do some research on it!

2:35 my dad said, "Put down some red pepper flakes or ground cayenne peppers. That will stop the cats". He's 85 and swears by this
Also, black pepper will work.
Whenbit rain you will need to reapply it.
What kind of "brown" material did you use in the chicken yard? Wood chips? Im trying to bulk up my chicken run bedding to make more compost like you have here.
You rock. Happy Winter Soultice ❄️❄️🦋😘
Awww thank you! Happy Winter Soultice to you as well!
Hey, Miss lady, Ithank you. have you ever thought about putting chicken wire under the dirt so that they cannot travel underneath
Hey! I haven’t but I need to figure something out. Thank you for the comment!
Where did you get that little wheel barrel you carried your compost in?
Cinnamon and pepper will deter moles/voles
Hi Asia question do you use your quail waste to compost?
ENJ🪴YED‼️
