Installing a Home Illuminator Outdoor Light with GFI Plug

Cheap Homesteading needed to install a outdoor GFI plug for their Nordic hot tub. He looked on Amazon and found an outdoor light that has a GFI plug built-in. Pete installed it and the Nordic hot tub is up and running.This is the easiest way to install GFI plug on the outside of your house.

Would using a dusk to dawn light bulb work? This way the light would t be on all day…. Just thinking outside the box. Thanks

What did you do with the ground in the box?

I replaced my working light matched up the hot and the neutral line and got them connected turned power back on and still no power to new light, any idea why? No ground wire from house 1890

Make sure the ground fault in the light is on it might be tripped. Check your breakers. make sure that the black is actually hot. Maybe they wired it backwards way back by accident or someone didn’t know LEDs only light up one direction. Hope you find out what’s wrong.

Thanks I got this exact light and didn't think that to use the GFI Outlet I'd need the light on :( It would be nice if you show us how easy/hard it is to unscrew the light bulb, just ENOUGH, to override this?

You could leave the light to always on via the switch. Then use a wifi or smart light bulb which lets you use your phone app as a switch to on or off

No, it doesn’t. I wish it would’ve. I have to leave the light on. But if the light switch is turned off, there’s no power going to light I would have to change the wiring. Thanks for watching.

@@cheaphomesteading thanks that's what I've been wondering if planned in advance have 14/3 wired I'm going to see if I can change it wen I install one next week looking to get a customer a simple receptacle for Xmas lights

Does the outlets work without having to turn on the light?

Unfortunately the light Has to be on. But I put an LED bulb in it so it wouldn’t run too much power. Thanks for watching
