Kräftige und zugleich lyrische live Aufführung dieses fein komponierten Konzerts mit tiefem Ton des Solocellos und perfekt synchronisierten Töne anderer Instrumente. Der erfahrene Maestro dirigiert das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo mit effektiv kontrollierter Dynamik. Überzeugend!

:) after listening to Shafran's and Rostropovich's versions, I'm actually starting to like this cello version to the original viola version. it's a shame both are live versions with some coughing here and there, but still so lovely.

If Henri Casadesus was trying to imitate the style of J.C.Bach, why didn't he?
This concerto is so little like the delightful, Mozart-precursor light-listening style of the real J.C. that even when, many moons ago, it was introduced to me on radio as genuine, I couldn't believe it. Back to the drawing board, Monsieur Henri! Your brother Marius did much better with the "Mozart" Adelaide Concerto, which I happen to like for its own sake.
+Michael F Yes, especially in the first movement where there's the g minor repeat of the first theme... the violins are playing such a modern motif... the rest is also pretty romantic and whatnot. It is quite twisted for maestro Bach. It still sounds good, at least!

Isn't it the "version" from #Mozart? I think Mozart met JC bach in London and changed the original version to an cello concert! Does somebody know more about that?
I don't think so, but you could be right.
Henri is also credited with the "Handel Concerto" and the "J.C. Bach Concerto," which are both for viola as well. These are often referred to as "The Handel/Casadesus Concerto" and "The J.C. Bach/Casadesus Concerto". Scholarly criticism has confirmed that both these concerti were written by Henri Casadesus in the style of their purported composers. - Wikipedia

Everyone does know that this concerto was composed by Casadesus and not JC Bach? The style is nothing like that of JC Bach. It sounds like a romantic concerto to me.
