It's funny how everyone is hating on Brooke and saying she copied Gaga when not even Gaga cares. She likes Brooke and is friends with her so why are you Gaga fans so butthurt? They have a similar dark sense of style and music, get over it. The music industry repeats and copies itself every day. Stop wasting your time hating on Brooke's art or just leave. Stop being childish
Guillermo Hernández Im not gonna search on twitter, there's no proof that they're friends the fact that you think that would be more fitting for YOU to search twitter and prove your point.
this is seriously one of the best music videos ever.. great make up and costumes and she is a great performer in the vid. Derivative of Missy E, Gaga, Madonna? .. maybe, but also elevating their visions
I don't think people get this video. This is art. She is recreating a personification of "opulence." Something that posesses you, something pure evil. That's what excessive money is, pure evil. It's ugly and destroys people.
Seems there are less and less people recognizing real art and artists (like her, Kendrick, and others) as what they are. Art was always supposed to challenge people in their restricted views and get them out of their comfy zones. RESPECT ART
I know it is very late, but if you like this, you should look up Steven Klein. He is a photographer and he's the one that directed this. He has worked with Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and several fashion houses.
This chick started from the BOTTOM, she has been in her own unique lane, I'm so happy for her success. The makeup and fashion in this video is incredible!! #fabulouslyratchet
She never got the proper recognition and respect until now, doesn't matter who your father is or how much money you have, she's has been performing everywhere, in small venues across the country for years already, that's the bottom boo, so don't take my word out of context!
Alex Esparra That's true, I wouldn't argue with that. I don't doubt that she's worked hard to get where she is today either, which I can definitely respect. At the same time, her father's several high positions and affluence most likely afforded her with greater opportunities not only in regards to monetary support but also in networking with the top industry dogs. Attaining her career would probably be significantly more difficult should she have come from a dirt poor family with zero connections and early financial support. Not hate though, I still think she's got a cool artistic vision regardless.
People like me? I'm gay honey, go to a gay club, i see people and drag queens dressed like this all the time. If you don't like my comment, move on, don't reply to me, trying to deconstruct what I said said in support of her., bye Felicia !
People acting like Gaga has exclusive rights to being odd. I like Gaga, but she isn't the only person who can use shock, strange outfits ,sexuality, and dark music to captivate an audience
as always Brooke is one hard core, kinky, unique artist!!! been following her from grimes to das me...she stood out,the lady is eccentric, bizarre, sinister, distinguishing, avant garde,extravagant...speaking of that ,stop wearing the fur man...plz! love the track!!! c'mon brooke give us a cd!!!!
While the adolescents argue, I just watched a visually striking video. The video depicts the dangerous attachment to money, sex, and greed, and because of excess, the consumer becomes consumed and every shred of her humanity is gone in the end. People screaming it's evil or weird is only proving how brilliant the director and the artist is because they got that reaction out of a viewer. In the end, if anyone knows anything about Candy's obsession with duality, you might take this video as an example of embracing one side while ignoring the other. Light and darkness.
Thank you for contributing to intelligent discussion! It's so hard to find in the comment section anymore. I think I really like your take on it. I must admit that the car crash scene reminded me somewhat of Hitchcock's North by Northwest a little as well. Giving it some subtext to back up what you're saying.
Brooke Candy is on some next-level shit. She's one of the few artists who actually pushes the envelope. Most everyone else plays within the pop boundaries and guidelines, Gaga included. This video was amazing. Visually stunning, like a nightmare covered in a layer of glitter. I can't stop watching it.
I think the message here is do not get consumed by all that glitters and everything else... money, sex, drugs. In the end it all eats you up and perhaps you even go mad. That is my take, see in the end Brooke strips away all the diamonds and fur... that opulence weighed her down and she never got rid of it, well she was consumed
Holy fucking shit........this is *_SO_* insanely aesthetically creative. I absolutely love anything hyper surreal eccentric and just plain creative....and this takes that to the nth degree. Absolutely love it. I actually love how so many pop stars today...seem to almost be taking what Marilyn Manson was doing 20 years ago...and taking it to a whole new level.
Every time I see this video it always feels like the first time I saw it. My body went into shock, I couldn't speak, I was loving every minute of it.. I was in love with every thing and anything that composed it. She Brought it.. I can't wait to see more of her... Wow!
I watched this video like 9 years ago. I remember the first time I watched it and for some reason never found the video again maybe I forgot the name or something, but the music and some images were stuck in my head. Today I found the video and all I can say is WOW. Amazing.
Mulberry Blocker Oh i'm going to cry. Paris is Burning. It's a documentary about the black gay drag ball scene. It's on netflix. Watch it, it will change your life.
3s9s I mean.... part of me wants to give her the benefit of the doubt, she might have but honestly I feel like someone just told her about it. haha. Most people don't understand the roots of gay lingo.
Whenever Steven Klein works with anyone so far the most recent and popular being Lady Gaga (Alejandro, and her FAME Perfume ad), Madonna(SECRET PROJECT), and Brooke Candy. It's always amazing
What I like about this video is that it reminds me of old-school Marilyn Manson videos. It also reminds me of Leigh Bowery and the looks that the "club kids" had in the 80's.
You ought to research the NYC sex clubs of the 80s. That’s where a lot of the Alig type Limelight kids drew inspiration from. Also the New York Dolls band. But the 70s-80s gay club scene is really something else. Those dudes were pushing it. It’s where Clive Barker got his inspiration for his Cenobite characters. Check out the Al Pacino movie Cruising for a peek into that world. Be warned though: it’s pretty dark.
I loved all the fashion in this video, fun, over the top, creepy enough to make me interested, and stylish enough to keep me from looking away. This crazy couture and crazy make up is my thing.
Dark is played out already. Come on, if an artist needs to be dark ALL THE TIME, EXCLUSIVELY, they lack creativity. How long will evil and illuminati themes be the old "new?" I'm so over it...let's move on... Gaga is much more exciting as an artist. Just check out all of the imagery she has done for ARTPOP, so many different themes covered, mesages to youth about self confidence. creativity, sexuality, fun, Goddess, and so much more. She encourages us all to find our own meaning from the album. She triggers our imagination and inspires us to become the best us we can be. What does Klein do?!! uh, try to make things look scary, illuminati oh my. Nicola designed sets, costumes, most likely make up too.I don't think the direction is good at all. The beginning doesn't even fiit and I didn't find myself interested in what she was up to. A fast car/ bike... big deal! undressing before suicide... ok, slightly more interesting i guess... Nicola would have been able to showcase his talent much more had the video kept my interest. The fashion, makeup and music were great. her voice...ick.
The car crash seems to be a allegory to Princess Diana? This video is disturber, despite the fact that the photography and the direction are exquisite, after all we are talking about Steven Klein. In the end the conclusion to me is "opulence leads people to death" metaphorical or real.
i was deadass getting the same idea. like an allegory for a life that caters to opulence is a life that you cant leave. like a metaphor for fame in general, with sponsors decking out the concept of the person they buy
Its not specific to Diana in that scene, nothing really indicates it has anything to do with Diana. Diana was not known to be a gold digger seeking only wealth and she was not driving, it occurred in a tunnel and is linked to paparazzi camera men chasing the vehicle and so none of these very stereotypical Diana themes are present. The person in the vehicle here is driving and is distressed themselves. The demon of Opulence, Mammon, laughs at the burning demise of the never satisfied pursuit and hunger for all forms of excess in things perceived to have some sort of status value, like sex, jewelry and treasures, cars, beauty, whatever.
You better recognize.... creativity, Opulence is a song about power, control, and obsesion all made by money. She is criticizing people who think OPULENCE is everything in the world. Welcome to a World where the art is as always was. Beautiful but really strange, they criticized many artists and masterpieces before, and now they just praise them.
Honestly this woman was the baddest birch to ever do it she should be the best female rapper of all time y'all know Brooke candy don't breath on a track
WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE EVEN WATCH VIDEOS IF THEY'RE GONNA TALK SHIT IN THE COMMENTS? If you don't like it just piss off and ignore it jfc! Like wow you don't like it, BECAUSE YOUR OPINION IS EVERYONES. DAMN.
I agree and I dont understand why people are so damn scared. Our society is complete garbage and here comes along someone open to full expression and they have to bash
Ana Sanz "Bashing" is open expression also...Why do opinions always need to be positive and complimentary? Sorry, but not everyone has to agree with everything you like...and anyone is free to express that. Get over it.
Even after a Decade, the ending where she says "I own Everything Baby" is Still my Background. Just updated it as a Live Video Clip of that Exact Phrase! Looks Amazing! Literally a Decade with THIS as my Phone Background, it Never gets Old! XOXOX Flip Phone got me Questioning it though, Not gonna Lie! Ahahaha
Klein is such an amazing photographer. I always find his images fascinating and it's interesting to see his images in motion through music videos he directs such as this or Gaga's ALEJANDRO
She's not copying Gaga. I've loved Brooke Candy for years and seeing her image and radical lyrical change is not from her 'copying' someone, its from her being fine tuned and polished so she can go mainstream. Sia helped her with this. If you are bashing on Brooke Candy just from this video, and not knowing any of her other songs or videos, please educate yourself.
this video was directed and fashion directed by Steven Klein (alejandro, Fame, etc) and Nicola Formichetti (bad romance, alejandro, telephone, etc). man more gaga than this is impossible
I don't know why she isn't more popular. I love all her songs they are so interesting and different I listen to them all the time, I think she is great.
Brandon Naehring Yea she met Candy back in 2008 and she's trying to bring Candy into the pop realm by helping her musically, she's asked producers like Diplo, Benny Blanco, Will.i.am, Dr. Luke to produce her album.
@@gonzaloarvietti4920 I mean I like it but some scenes makes me not love it,like the certain scenes and etc..lol but its her creative way..oh wow 253 likes in 3 years

I still come back to admire the hair, makeup, and costumes that make this video so memorable. Candy had a helluva production team.
