Loved watching Prisoner and Bea Smith!-Her last episode was sad but I was happy that the producers had her beat up The Freak!

I love Val Lehman's original idea of Queen Bea killing *THE FREAK* before she left.
I wonder if they would have written it that way if the beautiful Sheila Florance didn't want to leave.
Bad enough 2 of the original characters was leaving I suppose it would have been too much to write out 3 lead characters

They did kill Bea off eventually apparently bc fans behaved just like they did with the current Bea's death on Wentworth, they just wouldnt accept she was gone.
Sad she left on a low note.
I must be difficult having to work with so many different cast members and especially directors. Bit like having 42 different managers in
I curious about the clashes of those who worked on the show.
I read Val and Elspeth clashed, at one time and Val and Rowena Wallace

Nah, she was killed off because showrunner Coral Drouyn just didn't like Val and how uppity she was on the show and the popularity the character gotten so this was her way of sticking it to Val and Bea.

And after just checking out the episode online, the director that Val had recognised in a future tv production, was Mark DeFriest, who was wearing the silver four leafed clover on a chain that Val had made for the crew members on her last day. 😃

Mark DeFriest only ever directed episodes 399 and 400 of Prisoner..A lot of the regular directors didn't want her to go. Kendal Flanagan was favourite to direct Bea's final scenes, he turned it down along with Steve Mann, who started out in the beginning of the show as a camera operator in 1979
The cast held the crew in such high esteem and it was reciprocated by the crew. Which is why Val's final scene was the last scene to be filmed, but only got the penultimate scene in episode 400 after editing, and that was out of spite by the producer's. Talk about cutting your nose off
