    I experienced a huge difference when applying for apartments in the West VS in China:
    In the west (I live in Germany), you and 20 to 200 other desperate people apply for the same overpriced fungus infected apartment to rent. And the landlord still demands a whole folder of sensitive documents including your credit ratings, previous relationships with landlords, a description of yourself etc. Heck, some landlords even demand a photo of me and my wife in the application! Then you dress up nicely, drive sometimes several hours to the apartment viewing appointment just to get rejected because one of the other 50 applicants reminded the landlord of their son or something. And the price ends up higher than stated online (deliberately hiding costs).
    How is this not a dystopian nightmare?
    Meanwhile in China: there is always an apartment of the type you're looking for and you simply select it online on a Chinese website (where all the information has the same structure, is complete, with accurate prices and pictures. No "ghost-ads", the apartment you see online is always one that's still available). After selecting it online for a viewing appointment it's scheduled for you and only for you! If you like the apartment during your viewing appointment, then you simply get it without begging on your knees, without proving that you and your previous landlords were BFFs, and you don't even have to fight 20 other people.
    And also, there are chinese websites for renting apartments for short term stays (one month, 5 months etc.) and they're not much more expensive than other apartments.
    Seriously life in the so called "free world" makes me increasingly mentally sick and paranoid of people/society. I feel much more like a human when in China.

      Housing is always a sensitive issue around the world today. It might be convenient with China experience cause China is bracing digitalization in all dimensions. I viewed an German TH-camr couple(Protect Wild Pineapples) luckily rented an apartment after a series of process, they expressed their appreciation and thankfulness cause the rent price is much lower than the market price.

    • @stephenpavy2501
      @stephenpavy2501 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      This is the case for ALL WESTERN COUNTRIES, Australia is similar to Germany. A book of references, accounting and years of history to then compete with hundreds of potential tenants. You also then must bid a higher price than landlord advertises. But in the East, SEAsia included as well as China you can get whatever you want with better facilities and even negotiate a cheaper price. Have no competition to get the property. As you'll be the only one selecting it. Western "Free" world or "first world" is a lie.

    • @kremigmitsahne7197
      @kremigmitsahne7197 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephenpavy2501 totally agree. Even a basic human right such as shelter or a living wage is not guaranteed in the "free world" (homelessness everywhere on the streets of our cities). Our media lies 24/7 about countries like China. Using all kind of media tricks to make them seem dystopian. Then they tell us "Well, we might have problems in our western country, but there is no better alternative. This is the best we can have. At least it's not as bad as in China / Cuba / Vietnam /NonWestern-Country-XYZ right?". The worst thing is, people in the West (and sometimes even outside of it) believe the lies with great confidence, because these lies are being repeated everywhere and by everyone in our media and "education". I believed many ridiculous lies too. One reason was because this was basically the only narrative I grew up with.

    A complete opposite of renting experience in 🇬🇧🇮🇪. I'm pretty sure Jason is not even aware how bad it is here. Having money 💰 (your own, not government's) for renting a flat is just a beginning of the hurdles instead of an end. There's a reason why homelessness ⛺ is going through the roof and getting worse in English-speaking countries 🇬🇧🇮🇪🇺🇸🇨🇦. Writing this from my tent 🏕️.
    *P.S.* Right, we do have a similar service called AirBNB but that's as expensive as a hotel and only for vacations. And the landlord is still allowed to discriminate against the tenant - for example by refusing to let his property to you without giving a reason.

    Prices are crazy, we have a small 1 bedroom in Tianhe but we have a little one on the way so we need to upgrade ideally to a 3 bedroom which in our current area would cost close to 10 million rmb.... Luckily my wife has access to a company discounted apartment so we're currently renting an old 2 bedroom for 2k rmb per month but we're on the 6th floor with no elevator and no western toilet haha

    Wow china has a tap that water comes out of, hold the front page America and England are gonna want to hear about this because we don't have that , i love the way you didn't show those empty shells in the background for to long because you would be in trouble for that .
    Why are you showing flats that normal chinese citizens could never afford to live in , unless you work for the ccp and you really expect people to believe those students live in that flat, where are all their possessions and how convenient they have only just moved in and haven't had time to move all their stuff in and wow an app for renting no one's ever thought of that in western countries have they .
