So glad to be getting the Penguin as a tv show. Former iterations of the Batman movie franchises would have spent almost a whole movie showing Oswald’s rise to power and leaving Bats as an afterthought. Reeves is ,so far, a godsend to the Batman universe.
Ever since we started to find out about some of the characters that will be in the penguin show like Sofia Falcone, Salvatore Maroni, and Alberto Falcone, I started to think that the penguin show might be the perfect setup for an actual Long Halloween plot line in The Batman Part II. You could have Bruce/Batman meet Harvey Dent and have them work together and have Alberto Falcone and Harveys wife be the Holiday Killer. Also I think it would be cool if Bruce kind of looked at Harvey as his idol just for him to have to watch Harvey turn into the villian. Let me know if you think this could happen.

I was wondering if that’s something that’s going to come up in the Penguin series, or if it’s worldbuilding for The Batman Part II.
In the comics, for a long time Gordon didn't care who Batman actually was, so that would be an accurate depiction. He didn't wanted to see a vulnerable Person under a mask but that mighty Symbol that Bruce created. He needed to see this to do his job and get through all the tough times. If he started caring, he would become vulnerable and people might die. It's just in recent years, after he's now longer commissioner that he cares more about the person under the mask.

For James Gordron’s baby, I rlly hope it would Jame Gordon JR so they can do a batman black mirror storyline which can give Gordon character development and question himself as a father and a cop. Batman black mirror is so underrated probably my 2nd fav batman comic after year one

To piggy back off of the “reverse horror” Arkham series idea (which is brilliant btw), I think it would be interesting to have each episode be viewed through the eyes of a different inmate/patient (depending on how they want to be portrayed). Each telling there own story and maybe some horror which all connects each of their stories back to Gotham/Batman
Come as You Are would be hype, but I feel it would be too hype. If Matt Reeves uses Nirvana songs for the other The Batman movies, I feel Come As You Are would be amazing for a third/final movie where Pattinson's Bruce Waye is comfortable as the Batman. Just imagining Come As You Are needledropping as Batman, at the top of his game, starts to fight his villains, who are also at the top of their game, give me goosebumps. And if Giacchino hypes the song up even more with his score?! Goddamn, do I need this....
i really should have watched this video sooner but i just finished it. I love the idea of how batman saved baby james/barbra just like in year one. I love that we could see more of this world in the penguin and Gcpd and maybe even arkham show. I find it interesting to not only have the character study of Bruce, but also see how batman impacts the world he lives in.
Ever since seeing the ending of The Batman with the Joker calming the Riddler after his little tantrum, I thought their relationship could be minor plot points throughout the trilogy that will eventually unfold in the final installment. Where they both break out and Joker fully manipulates the Riddler to get Batman right where he wants him and once he gets what he wanted, throw the Riddler. While I would hate to see the Riddler die like this, I think it would be a great payoff in showing The Joker's ablility to use mind games and manipulation to get what he wants out of others.
Where Did You Sleep Last Night isn’t actually a Nirvana song. It’s Lead Belly song that they covered. I think if Reeves picked another Nirvana song it would be an original.
Wow! I am super excited about any project that could come into fruition in this Reeves Batman world. But until now i didn't really have a clear vision or idea in which direction could the GCPD go. And this sounds absolutely amazing and makes so much sense!!! Also Clancy Brown is in my opinion the perfect casting for Maroni. His role in Carnivale was absolutely menacing and powerful.
Just came back to rewatch this because yesterday was just hectic with my kids running around and I couldn't quite pay attention to the whole video. That being said, Boba, you are the best dude. Bruce's identity nearly got revealed in the first film, and having that take place whilst the newly leaked information over the crummy past of the Waynes, I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be seeing Bruce try and clear his family name and get in the spotlight more. But what if in the second film, his identity is revealed? Not to the entirety of Gotham, but just one person. If you had to choose for Batman's Identity to be revealed to someone, whether that be friend or foe, who would you choose and why?

I am looking forward to seeing The Penguin spin off, hopefully sometime late 2023 or early 2024 at best. In terms of when the Arkham and GCPD series will appear, I think it's a safe guess it'll take place after The Batman Part II's release in 2025. This is how I imagine the timeline of release dates will look: The Penguin - Late 2023/Early 2024 The Batman Part II - October 3, 2025 Arkham Asylum and GCPD - 2026/2027 Catwoman Spin Off maybe - 2028? and The Batman Part III - 2029 I based The Batman Part III being released in 2029, cause that would Batman's 90th anniversary.
I think they could make Gordon trusting Batman moment with the plot of Batman Killing Joke comic being adapted into the series and replace the first half of the animated movie (that was about Barbara and Batman relationship) instead with gordon and corrupt GCPD like Batman Year One - that could work and would be fun to see, thanks for your videos I absolutely love hearing newest DC news from you, amazing job (I love Nirvana's "Come as you" too one of my favorite)

I think you're absolutely on point about Gordon. The whole relationship in the film leaves a burning question, "what created such a deep bond of trust between these two?" Your speculation here is pretty compelling. I'd watch the hell out of that scenario. Love your reader's idea of a reverse horror scene. In general, I don't think we ever get enough of Batman from other people's perspective, and whenever we do, it's a huge thrill. So seeing him turn the tables on an inmate riot at Arkham, maybe even uncover a conspiracy that caused it, would be amazing. Basically, the Arkham Asylum scenario, but more grounded. You could even bring in Hugo Strange as the main cause, blending in the Arkham City storyline. I also love the visual image your reader suggested of halls bathed in red flashing lights like a hellscape, with Batman stalking through it.
Nirvana's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" is actually an old American folk song called "In the Pines," that dates back to the 1870s. It'd be a great theme song to touch on the history of Gotham, and inherited trauma. Another great suggestion.
I think the story suggestion about Martha Arkham being committed to keep her quiet is a brilliant idea. It echos the real life horror story of Rosemary Kennedy, who was lobotomized because her father thought her emotional outbursts were affecting the family's political ambitions. It also opens up the idea that her mother's murder/suicide had more to it, and that the Arkham family was covering up a much bigger scandal than one woman's mental instability. This could lead directly to the Court of Owls, and the lengths they go to in order to maintain their secrecy.

The Penguin just casted Theo Rossi (Juice from SoA / Shades from Luke Cage) hopefully as Harvey Dent cause that will mean they are going exactly where they need to go before the Batman 2 =D
I agree 100% I do think though that you can do Batman in the show I think you do him like Darth Vader from rogue one or Luke Skywalker at the end of Mandalorian. You have him pop up at the end so you have the show about the guards trying to capture/struggling to capture the inmates. You build up some characters some of the guards some of the officers and then you bring in Batman at the end via Darth Vader Luke Skywalker style
Make a Batman Year One content set sometime after Before the Batman Novel. Basically Batman and Detective Janice Dure are investigating Joker. Gordon is suspicious of Janius and discovers she’s been working with Batman. Gordon doesn’t trust Batman. But when Joker kills Janice Dure, Batman and Gordon are forced to work together. They apprehend Joker and Gordon now trusts Batman. He also finds Janice bat signal blueprint and finishes what she started.

@@BobaTalks Hmm, Boba... I just remembered that in the film, when Batman and Gordon enter the mayor's garage, there's the exchange where Batman says, "You don't trust me?" Then Gordon says, "You mean, like you trust me? It's been two years now, and I don't even know who you are, man." That being the case, could it still be the fact that he'd saved his son that was the reason why his trust in Batman was forged? Based on the comic, Gordon either knew that it was Bruce and protected him from being caught, *or* he really couldn't see without his glasses and let the stranger go because of his good deed. So, is saving his son what really did it? Because if Gordon is aware that it was Bruce, yet in the film tells him that he still doesn't know who's behind the mask, it doesn't really answer the commenter's question. What am I missing?
Hey Boba! Amazing series I love guessing who’s going to be the next big bad! My vote would be for scarecrow and this is how I think Matt Reeves could make the fear toxin work. A liquid based toxin that attacks the amygdala part of the brain; which simultaneously raises cortisol levels. Synapses rapidly firing to the amygdala causes a fight or flight response. The raised cortisol puts the victim into a state of fear, anxiety, and paranoia. The fear response leads to a release of adrenaline, which gives our victims an increased heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate. Laced with strong dosages of dimethyltryptamine or DMT, strong vivid hallucinations are brought on shortly after entering the bloodstream. I really think this could work well since it’s all based in logical science. Lmk what you think!

We're not entirely sure about Barry Keoghan's involvement in the future "The Batman" movies. It's possible and likely we'll see him again though, if not in the movies then possibly the Arkham Asylum spinoff show.
Hey boba can you tell how other bigger characters superheroes like jl members or villains like lex, and cities like metropolis, coast city exist in reeves thabatverse. Or how he can utilize them, i already know nolanverse fully standalone, but i don't want that with this, maybe they can just refrence them eg "so now you are flying like your friend from metropolis" alfred to bruce.
If Arkham already has a show runner, there’s almost no chance it comes out in 2026. Television moves much faster than that. It’ll likely shoot this year or early next, and come out in 24 or early 25.

I know we love to talk about Robin, what if Jason Todd is the first Robin for Battinson. It feels in line with his version of Batman. I can easily see him picking up a kid after he tries to steal from the batmobile rather than going to the circus and picking up an orphan there. I'd love to see this and for me it works so well in the White Knight Canon.

My first thought too. Though I think it won't be Radiohead, and it won't be Nirvana. If they do include another pop song as a theme for the next movie, I think it'll be something a little unexpected, a little out of left field.

But The Cure, like Nirvana, needs exactly the right song for the right mood or it'd be out of place. But when conditions are just right, it could be magic.

I think the story suggestion about Martha Arkham being committed to keep her quiet is a brilliant idea. It echos the real life horror story of Rosemary Kennedy, who was lobotomized because her father thought her emotional outbursts were affecting the family's political ambitions.
It also opens up the idea that her mother's murder/suicide had more to it, and that the Arkham family was covering up a much bigger scandal than one woman's mental instability. This could lead directly to the Court of Owls, and the lengths they go to in order to maintain their secrecy.

I agree 100% I do think though that you can do Batman in the show I think you do him like Darth Vader from rogue one or Luke Skywalker at the end of Mandalorian. You have him pop up at the end so you have the show about the guards trying to capture/struggling to capture the inmates. You build up some characters some of the guards some of the officers and then you bring in Batman at the end via Darth Vader Luke Skywalker style
Make a Batman Year One content set sometime after Before the Batman Novel. Basically Batman and Detective Janice Dure are investigating Joker. Gordon is suspicious of Janius and discovers she’s been working with Batman. Gordon doesn’t trust Batman. But when Joker kills Janice Dure, Batman and Gordon are forced to work together. They apprehend Joker and Gordon now trusts Batman. He also finds Janice bat signal blueprint and finishes what she started.

@@BobaTalks Hmm, Boba... I just remembered that in the film, when Batman and Gordon enter the mayor's garage, there's the exchange where Batman says, "You don't trust me?" Then Gordon says, "You mean, like you trust me? It's been two years now, and I don't even know who you are, man." That being the case, could it still be the fact that he'd saved his son that was the reason why his trust in Batman was forged?
Based on the comic, Gordon either knew that it was Bruce and protected him from being caught, *or* he really couldn't see without his glasses and let the stranger go because of his good deed. So, is saving his son what really did it? Because if Gordon is aware that it was Bruce, yet in the film tells him that he still doesn't know who's behind the mask, it doesn't really answer the commenter's question. What am I missing?

Hey Boba! Amazing series I love guessing who’s going to be the next big bad! My vote would be for scarecrow and this is how I think Matt Reeves could make the fear toxin work.

We're not entirely sure about Barry Keoghan's involvement in the future "The Batman" movies. It's possible and likely we'll see him again though, if not in the movies then possibly the Arkham Asylum spinoff show.

If Arkham already has a show runner, there’s almost no chance it comes out in 2026. Television moves much faster than that. It’ll likely shoot this year or early next, and come out in 24 or early 25.

I know we love to talk about Robin, what if Jason Todd is the first Robin for Battinson. It feels in line with his version of Batman. I can easily see him picking up a kid after he tries to steal from the batmobile rather than going to the circus and picking up an orphan there. I'd love to see this and for me it works so well in the White Knight Canon.

@@ruknasty1 That's a perfect choice! Unexpected, but not too obscure. Radiohead ends up on soundtracks all the time, because their music is so versatile. But The Cure, like Nirvana, needs exactly the right song for the right mood or it'd be out of place. But when conditions are just right, it could be magic.
Think of a flashback of crime alley and early fights with the cure 'pictures of you' but slowed down and creepy
