- Bass Bites: small, digestible bits of tips, tricks, licks and more for the double bass, in under 10 minutes.
Ever been put on the spot for a bass solo that you weren't ready for? Here is a simple exercise to try out to help build confidence in approaching soloing, along with a few other tips. This is an expansion of the 1-note solo, which helps alleviate fear of picking "the wrong note", allows you to focus on articulation, rhythm, breathing, and listening to how a single note harmonizes--or doesn't!--with the chord. Here, we choose 2 chromatic notes and slide between them to create even more interest and help build technique.
Stay tuned for more!

Nice Hat! Greetings from south Germany...Thank you for your bites. Mike.
Thanks, Mike!
I enjoyed this video a lot, for a slight different reason. I live in a dry forest in Costa Rica, and if weather permits, I practice with my bass in the forest. I even have a similar metronome, and I even have a similar wooden chair that I use to take the tuner and the metronome.
I do enjoy the bites as well, so as soon as the sun goes down a bit, I'll go out to the forest and play out this lesson. Thanks a lot.
I love that! I can imagine you filling the forest with music 😊🎶 That's very cool that you have a similar metronome and chair!
Thanks for tuning in and taking the time to comment! Happy practicing!
Amazing
Thank you!
