"We're smoking over applewood, low and slow"
max the meat guy, and him link get drunk and try to out cook a restaurant. fire video.
I'm so glad Max is no longer in my feed.
@@kanoaikawach Why
Lmao
Man of culture!
“That’ll be $20”
probably more than that at a bar, sadly
That’s just the normal price where I live
That’s why I rarely order one. Too easy to make perfectly at home for cheap.
More like$ 35 or 50$ for top shelf.....
A restaurant near me sells shots of pappy van winkle for 51$ ... For a single shot.
And they aren't even that fancy ....
@@chanceDdog2009 that’s bull. I always try to tell my gf it’s not worth it, and that we can do it for a fraction of the price at home…
I like using Maple syrup as the sweetener and angostura bitters.
Actually had this suggestion previously and tried it this weekend, was really good.
Yep, me too
That’s how I make mine now! It’s incredibly delicious!🥃
I do the same, but prefer Peychaud bitters. The anise notes play with the maple syrup in a way I really enjoy.
AKA “Angry Canadian”
Cherry syrup with the half oz of demerara sounds sweet
Way too sweet
Ya I would send that drink back... Half oz demerara.... It's proally a 2:1 too. Then cherry syrup. No Ango or other aromatic bitters... No fresh orange... Orange bitters instead... Needs salt too especially since it's that dang sweet... I'm sorry that smoke is not gonna save it.
Definitely. .25 oz at most plus just the syrup on cherry is enough. Needs the orange and a dash or two of ango.
Exactly. I don't think this guy is much of a bartender tho
Yeah, too sweet. It's super sweet with 1/4 oz. Half ounce is way too much
i made a pomegranate old fashioned for christmas this year! i muddled fresh seeds and added a pomegranate simple syrup i made with orange bitters and some woodford reserve, was excellent
Saving this, drinking it later, thanking you immediately afterwards
I’ll definitely give this a try…
Thanks for sharing.
No problem, I hope you enjoy it.
That’s a damn good looking ole fashioned my friend!
Was at a sales conference few weeks ago and drank quite a few of these minus the smoke. I like my pulled pork to taste smoky not my drinks lol. Can’t go wrong, definitely add the cherry! Bar used Angels Envy… excellent!
Bourbon by nature is smokey 🤷
I grew up a half mile away from michters distillery. I have some really cool items from them!
My favorite old fashioned is Four Roses single barrel, two healthy dashes of Angostura bitters, some simple, and an orange twist
Exactly how I make mine! I love Four Roses Single Barrel!
The orange twist is exactly what I thought he was missing from the recipe!
That’s how I do it, but 4 dashes of bitter
I'd either have to leave out the demurara or cut down on the cherry syrup, but otherwise this sounds quite nice. I tend to be pretty simple with my old fashioned. 2oz whiskey, 1/2oz sweetener, a dash or two of whatever bitters I have on hand, a luxardo cherry (if i have it), rub the rim with an orange peel (if I have it).
In a separate glass, good bourbon, Wellers or maybe Buffalo Trace, three dishes of orange bitters, and a half teaspoon of maple syrup. In your serving glass, burn some wood chips and place the glass over the burning wood, add an ice ball. stir your mixing glass, and pour it over the ice, take an orange peel, and give a twist into the glass, rub the oils on the rim, and drop it in.
Here's my favorite old fashioned:
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon with Angostura or Orange Bitters, then some simple syrup. ALWAYS use Luxardo cherries with a little bit of the juice in there. And you can't forget the Orange rind squeezed and rubbed around the rim. I've never had anything to properly smoke my Old Fashioned, but I gotta try it.
That sounds great, I do love double oaked in an old fashioned.
One of my favorited ways too
That’s exactly how I like mine!
Woodford all the way.
Not a fan of smoked drinks. Bought a smoke machine used it once.
I do enjoy myself an Old-Fashioned. This is a great take on one. thanks for sharing. cheers.
Thanks for the positive vibes.
Apple wood interesting. I'm gonna try mesquite as I like the wild turkey longbranch. Been using walnut bitters too. Love your videos my friend!
The beautiful thing about an old fashioned is the variation in how it is made. I make mine using the following method:
• one sugar cube in an old fashioned/rocks glass
• three dashes of bitters on top of the sugar cube
• trim an orange slice down leaving a bit of the meat on the rind - squeeze the small bit of juice left in the orange on the sugar cube.
• muddle the liquid/sugar cube mixture.
• add 2-3oz of Wild Turkey 101 rye
• stir for a bit
• add your maraschino cherry
• express the orange rind from earlier round the rim of the glass and place the rind in the glass
• add ice cube(s)
• enjoy
I actually made some very similar to this this past weekend and they were delicious.
Best old fashioned, is the one your buddy springs for.
I have to apologize. I was totally like dude your not even making that right, and then I realized at the end you said old fashion lol great job and can't wait to get the ingredients to give that a try!
Still didn’t make it right lol
@@williamtruben7761 the recipe isn’t set in stone, he makes it the way he prefers it because he is the one drinking it
@@mandymachine262 that concept is unfortunately too advanced
@William Truben u were dropped in the head as a baby eh?
@@mandymachine262 Then it's no longer an old fashion.
For me...
One sugar cube with 2-3 dashes of ango. Add a drizzle of water (preferably soda) and muddle until the sugar is 50-80% dissolved. Then add 2 oz of bourbon (I like something higher proof, tbh most anything bonded will probably be good) a LARGE CLEAR ICE CUBE (cant emphasize how important good ice is for this drink) and stirr in the same glass for 5-10 seconds (shorter than most drinks). For garnish do a lemon and orange peel (aka the rabbit ears garnish), and dont forget to express those oils over the top of the drink. But yeah, its a classic for a reason; great drink.
Thank you my find sir!! Sorry this took me so long
My wife bought me a smoker like that and I LOVE IT! I make an old fashioned very similarly.
I love mine with some Glennfiddich, angostura bitters, brown sugar and an orange rind
Old Fashion is my favorite drink. Proof also makes a good syrup. Don’t forget the orange peel.
Thank you very much! No fuss, no muss. Easy pizzy.
You make it just like how i do at my bar and people love it
I make mine very similar! I prefer black walnut bitters though
I do exactly what you do plus 2 dashes of the aromatic bitters. I have the same smoker too. Delicious. Well done
Tried it as demonstrated. It is delicious! Thank you
Oaxacan old fashioned is my favorite!
I enjoyed an old fashioned with cranberry bitters and crème de cacao I think and man!…it was so well rounded and refreshing! ❤ mixology is an art
Yes that cherry 🍒 juice is a must!!
You Sir are a true connoisseur😊
Michter's is so bland and boring though 🤮
Almost identical to how I make mine. The only changes is I use Woodford Reserve Rye and then express a lemon peel over the top and use the oils to rim the glass. Great way to make them. If you haven't used demerara syrup before you are missing out.
Perty much the same recipe but with 2:1 bourbon to simple syrup. I find that it’s still lightly sweet compared to what almost every bar around me makes
I love em cheap and basic.
I recently became a big fan of the Michters straight rye over the Holidays. Good taste. Will be getting it again to make this drink. Gotta love the old fashioned.
That’s good holiday drink. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter
That looks delicious! Need to get the smoker kit.
That looks amazing
Ngl this is one of the best vids and recipes for old fashion
Thanks, I like old fashions, will try that way!
I really like making them with Mezcal!
I enjoy my favorite old fashioned once a week. I start with a little breakfast in bed, mix in a day of opening doors, some shopping, and finish with a nice supper and perhaps an optional bubble bath away from the kids. If I get it right, well, she may be old fashioned, but I still enjoy!
I know I’d enjoy this
That’s one sweet old fashioned
I just started bar tending I subscribed!
Just made it it's pretty good 👍
That actually looks amazing❤
Wow that was awesome
That's beautiful.
Too sweet
It’s definitely sweet
This is how I do mine!
That looks so yummy
2 oz Three Crosses (Powhatan VA.) Noble Hound Dark Rye, half oz simple syrup, toasted orange rind, 6 to 8 drops of Fee Brothers black walnut bitters, smoked - usually oak barrel.🤗
I just bought a really nice bottle of Australian whisky from the craft distillery I work at, thinking I might do something like this, need some simple whisky cocktails where you can still taste the whisky, at work we have a local soda brand and they do a dark soda, it's like a crafty vanilla cola but way less sugar than coke. I'm considering buying a 4pk to try with this whisky and a whisky stone or something. Also love your videos, definitely will subscribe after this.
That looks good af
MAN IS A LEGEND..
Just get the Lava Aromatic Old Fashioned mix. Best old fashioned you will ever have.
Man you deserve more comments and likes out there are creators in this line that get more likes just because they do stupid shit instead of teaching something good like you do in this channel
We are all about teaching and helping each other around here. :)
Mitcher's rye is a great rye whiskey. Fantastic in an old fashioned and even better served neat!
Looks Amazing
I enjoy my old fashioned with the crittendon barrel pick you came out with. I use a premix for the bitters and sugar water. I rub the rim with orange peel . It is delicious
Excellent 👍 YES!!
100 proof southern comfort is the best i can drink it straight.
I like to have a drink while getting an old fashion cheers 🥃
I enjoy a full glass of whatever I am drinking
I wanna make this man a real Old Fashioned and see him get blown away
That way, it looks fine
I like a dark chocolate aztec bitters, basil hayden, and smoke it with cherry wood. I love that one.
Never had one but I'd love to try. Just started trying out different whiskeys
Absolutely diabolical
Mine is a just a classic Maker's Mark old fashioned with simple syrup and orange bitters. I mix everything in a measuring cup combine it then pour it over a large ice cube.
This guy is the best 👌
Damn that looks great
Looks delicious
Brewzle’s trimming up!
Brilliant!
I make my own cocktail cherries using tart cherries and either dark rum or whiskey as booze base.
Depending on my mood I like to alter my bitters as well for fun. Someone got me the big kit from Fees and some sampler packs of other brands for Christmas.
Just for fun a few years ago when I was making a batch of cocktail cherries which are cheap enough to put over ice cream in large quantities I also made a trial run from frozen peaches which are fantastic instead of a cherry in an old fashion
I like it the old fashioned way
I see you're a man of culture
Sounds great
Delicious! I used Bulleit, Luxardo, Angostura orange bitters, and homemade Demerara syrup (Caribbean Rhythms from Amazon)
I did 1/4oz demerara and 1/4oz fresh grenadine
-2 oz burbon
-2-4 dash angostura bitters
-barspoon of demmerara syrup
-express and insert orange swath
- standard cubes of ice if I am going to drink it fast or a single large cube if I am going to be sipping it for awhile
Damn, it's 8 in the morning and you have me wanting an old fashioned. 👍
Got the stuff today, tonight and enjoy
I use simple syrup and cherry bitters pretty good!
Cherry bitters sounds awesome.
@@Brewzle bout to make me one right w! Lol
almost the exact same as mine, including applewood smoke and luxardo , but i use 1792 SB and 3 dashes orange bitters, 3 dashes angostura
dude i just came across your vids. i fuckin love en . lol
Thanks!
That's gonna be a really sweet drink what with the syrup, syrup amd bitters.
I’ve been using
50ml Wild Turkey 101
3 dashes angostura bitters
Tbs simple
Orange twist to finish
Simple and delicious
In Maine, there were serving them garnished with a candied walnut 🤌
🤣 that splash looked awesome!
Perfect
Wild turkey,
Demerara syrup
Lux cherry
Juice from a blood orange slice
Peel from the orange on the rim
Angostura bitters
Just about any whiskey that's not Michter's, Basil Hayden, or Bulleit, is gonna be much better 😅
I usually like mine with a left hand
I like them the old fashioned way
I like mine just like yours cheers
Borderline the same, mixture of orange and walnut bitters, stir on ice, pour through strainer into your whiskey glass with ice of choice, add cherry and one orange and one lemon peel. My buddy Matt taught me and it’s amazing. Russel’s 12 makes a great affordable old fashioned.
