Love to see videos like this with multiple generations working together especially when you capture some of the old timers opinions on camera! Plus it would be really cool if your kids were to watch this 25 years down the road.
I just purchased a "D" series but without the ROPS. I believe the "D" series was made from 1967 to 1977 making your machine the last year for that model.
I have a D4D that I haven't operated yet. Could you tell me about shifting gears, is it shift on the fly or do you stop while shifting to a lower or higher gear?
@@JuanHerrera-co3wc it depends on your tire size. Most half tons came with 3.42 or 3.73. Some had 4.10 too. Most 3/4 tonse were 3.73 or 4.10 and almost all 1 tons had 4.10
All my equipment was not running and considered scrap when I bought it. There is some old videos in my Playlists of me dragging most of the stuff I have home and fixing them up.
Found a D4D on marketplace… they claim it’s fine… undercarriage isn’t bad and they’re asking $10,500 for it… how is parts availability for these old dozers should something need fixing? Not looking to have one break down that turns it into a huge pile of irreparable junk if you know what I mean.
It's about time you played with the D4. Is your girl going to pay for the haul back too? You could have done all that with your excavator and saved on the haul.

I was told mine is a 77 so your probably right!
I've got a 1963 D
@@martinfleming759 Since my posting, I've noted that Eric Orlemann's book stated that the D-series was manufactured from 1963-77.

Still don't understand how you got the fastest 350/sm465 combo lol mine don't pull that fast lol
I think he just has the perfect gearing, probably running 4.10s
@@samdittmar5142 if mine pulls like a train what gears you think I have?

Nice fleet of equipment Is all the equipment yours. Did you buy or inherit?

Do any of this dozers have low range speeds or somthing like that or all the speeds they have are the ones of the stick shift
There is just stick gears and a reverse and forward. I run mine in first gear and I think it's to fast sometimes.
Does the right track adjuster not take grease?
It has big spring adjusters on it. The slide gets stuck every now and then and it makes the track look loose.
