@@stevencovino7920 hang on to this one. Even if you buy a new one, keep it. It will be working after the new electronic ones fail. 😎👍

Thank you for showing the allan wrench as a demonstration of a measure for the needle bar! I pick up machines destined for the garbage and try to clean and oil them and then donate them to needy families. So far, I’ve been able to eventually rehab each machine just by cleaning and oiling. But I have cleaned and cleaned an old dressmaker and it still won’t pick up the bobbin thread, so I’m going to attempt to adjust the needle bar and was not feeling confident. Thanks for demystifying the measure!

Great video! My Special Edition Janome model 108 is very similar to yours, the name in the front has New Home in larger print above Janome in smaller print below. I got mine from my husband's grandmother, I have cleaned the dust off it today. I hope to use it soon, but don't know how to inspect and deep clean it. It has no missing parts and was well taken care of. God bless. ✝️🇺🇸

It’s a classic for sure. It’s far better than many of the lightweight pseudo machines that are marketed these days. 👍🏼😎

Where can I buy a cord that's missing for this machine

Do an online search and multiple sources will display pricing and availability. Just match the shape of the “plug in” on the right side of your machine.
      Sewingpartsonline.com will have them.
      Easy/peasy. 😎👍🏼

Got both Janome New Home 632C Zig-Zag and Janome 539 (Japanese Edition). Personally, I like their 70s metal casing model, and its mechanical sound are real nice. Model 6xx, started to use little more plastic and easily gum up if don't use frequently.

I paid $30 CAD for my new to my wife L-372. Needed a good clean, re-lube and darner removal to get unstuck... other than that.... she runs great!
I did notice something with the top open. There is two disks in the cam stack that doesn't get used. Also, on the stitch selector there is a tab on the back gear that stops it from turning two more indents.... this tells me it's a L-392 in disguise. Shave the tab and voila! Two extra stitches, coincidently the same as the L-392.

Genius discovery. That’s exactly what’s going on. That was a common practice to build a bunch of identical machines and badge them however the market demands. 👍🏼

Thank you! I just picked up a used Janome Travel Mate that looks almost identical! It seems to be working. I took it apart to clean because I’ve never seen a dirtier machine. It seems like it did 29 years in the attic after 10 years uncovered in a diner kitchen followed by a hard life in a sweat shop! I disassembled and cleaned it. I need to oil it now and didn’t know what to oil, your video helped! 1 question I have is the rear handle screw was very short in contrast to the front handle screw, but also made of a different metal that rusted and was deteriorating the plate it attached ti. Is this normal or just another part of the abuse it suffered? Also, all of the other screws are gold in color, where would I locate a replacement screw? Thanks!

Ace hardware has a good selection of odd bolts and fasteners. Give them a try. You might just get it going and be glad you’ve got it. They’re pretty cool little machines.👍😎

@@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 Thanks for your reply! Very cool! I will take the working screw with me to Ace. I agree it will be wonderful once it’s up and going. It already sounds so smooth!
I was just watching your video on the janome needle bar support!
The Travelmate straight stitches beautifully, but all of the zigzags are erratic. Videos point to timing, which I’m nervous to attempt. I also realize I mistakenly called the Janome Vogue Stitch a dressmaker in a previous comment. Unfortunately, neither has an obvious screw on the needle bar to adjust height. Do you have a video on adjusting the time on Janomes?

      @randyyoursewingmachineman9954  ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@bekesize I have the video on how to time the hook on a front load 15 class machine. I believe that’s what you have there. The needle bar rarely gets out of adjustment, but when it does it’s a very small adjustment. It usually gets lowered about a millimeter to get back in spec.
Check to see if the set screw isn’t a tiny 2 mm Allen set screw.😎

    • @bekesize
      @bekesize ปีที่แล้ว

The Travel Mate is up and running! Thanks!
I listened to your caution about it ‘rarely needing adjustment’ and left it alone. This morning I rethreaded it, reloaded the bobbin and put a FRESH NEEDLE in and it is stitching straight and zigzag beautifully! Whoo hoo! Thanks again!
Now off to tackle the Janome Vogue Stitch. I noticed yesterday that the bobbin assembly seems to be sitting ‘askew’, as in the left side is at least half an inch from the machine, while the right side is flush with the body of the machine. When I tug at the thread, the tension seems even, but it doesn’t pick up the bobbin thread. I’ve changed several needles after cleaning and oiling it thoroughly.
Like you in this video, I didn’t know when I bought it that I had to replace the side loading bobbin cover plate, bobbin holder, foot holder and foot! Believing in the Janome name, I just knew it was going to purr like a kitten….

      Two things:
      Patience and penetrating oil.
Be gentle with it and coax it to move.
      No deadline. No hurry.
Just nudge it along to movement.
      👍🏼😎

I have this machine, stitch selector wont go to the zigzag side only the straight and button holes. I found a little metal tab like thing similar to the tab on the gears for straight an button stitches but i dont know where it goes. It also has no stitch definition on the straight stitch just looks like a straight line of thread on both sides, no space between the straight stitches 😢

I have one just like this model and another Janome 344 (very similar model). I was wondering if TriFlo grease should go on the nylon drive gears? I've read both ways, do it & don't do it! Does it break down the nylon in these models? Are these nylon gears more durable than the earlier nylon gears? Thanks in advance for any replies. 😊

If you’re trying to solve a problem like squeaky gears, then some triflo might help. If it stops the squeak, problem solved.
      Otherwise, why grease them? 😎👍🏼

@@williewilson7767 if the light turns on, the light cord is plugged into the M &L block in the place marked “light”.
Look under the machine for the location of the M & L block, and plug the motor cord in where it says “motor “.
If its has a single plug in on the side with two cords coming out, one to the wall and one to the control, check the foot control.
There may be a short where the cord goes into the foot control.
I made a video on fixing that.
