    Lovely video and Thank you for appreciating Air India. My dad would have been proud watching this, had he been alive. He worked with Air India for 36 years. I have been on many Air India flights and always enjoyed flying with them. Cheers from Mumbai India 🇮🇳.

      That is the crap they inherited from the govt run Air India which early was one of the worst 5 in the world.Now the privatized AI has its work cut out. It still has those govt crappy pilots, fat and surly FA, etc that it must get rid off.

    I still remember the times when AI had a mini hub at FRA and had 5th freedom for FRA-ORD and FRA-LAX all served by the 744. Was too young and didn't have the chance back then to use this exotic opportunity. Always loved the maharaja as their little mascot

      That’s true, I you reminded me of that! Those were the times, right?!

    Delhi is my base city! Just loved the way you are so positive about Air India, truly appreciate that. That's a bitter reality most of us Indians are avoiding AI but we just hope AI does a 360° makeover after taking over by Tatas.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      One has to be positive Ravi! No need to be bitter.
      I’ve had some different experiences on Air India too, but you just have to see it in a positive way. If all airlines were perfect what a boring world this would be!
      But yes, Air India deserves much better and hope they make the Indians proud. Sad their business is going to other countries.

      TBH , most of us Indians have historically avoided AI due to bad service, quality of interiors , constant delays etc. It simply sucked and there were better options available. Hopefully now the Tata's can do a much better job.

    Once, flying on the same route. I got locked inside the toilet and the crew had to instruct me on how to get out from there. A bizzare experience. Well, looks like air India has certainly been improving under the new ownership. The crew is the best 👍

      I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. Never seen such a door. And some small old lady opened without issues😂
      The staff are all looking forward to further changes and hope they recover what they lost during the government take over.
      Time will tell!
      And yes, the crew has consistently been great on all my Air India flights!
      I would just fix some interiors to bring them up to date.

      @@TheLayoverAviation Thank you for your great words. The great thing about TATA's is taking over of Air India which is in 35 thousand crores deficiet. No one dared to do so. Any one will take over profitable companies. And also they will come out with great gesture when Nation needs support. Company with moral values. I read some time back while recruiting Ratanji by JRD, that he needs a person not only efficient but with values. So he is delivering what ever JRD dreamt.

    As a vlogger you were treated differently. I always use Singapore airline but 3 months ago in April 2024 i used Air India Sydney to Delhi economy return on their 787. My seat was 11 exit row , from Sydney the IFE was working but they forget to load headphones for whole flight. The Quality and quantity of food was no way near to others .
    Delhi to Sydney i had same 11 exit row right side window seat, i brought my own headphones but the IFE unit was broken. It was so hot inside the plane while it was grounded, everyone was complaining. Imagine paying full fare usually more then Singapore airlines and travel without IFE for 12.5 hours.
    i have used Air India Sydney to Delhi once Before Tata and After taken over by Tata , nothing has changed.

    I only fly four times with Air India two international and two domestic! I must say each time I ly with them I had great polite professional service! Is always easy to find gate of Air India ? Just follow the food smell ? I know some people complain about Air India but I never had a reason! I think most Indian complaints as some Indian can be very difficult to please!

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree on the nice service received from the crew, I’ve also done 4 flights and always great.
      It’s easy to complain about Air India as they just have waaay too strong competition on all their routes if you think about it. And those competitors invested very much in product development.
      Air India needs some upgrades, such as IFE and beverage selection. So obviously if you fly to the US with them or with SQ, QR or EK there will be big differences at the moment.
      And yes, from what I know the Indian customer is the most demanding one. Fair enough, they bring incredibly lot of revenue, so much that companies like Emirates and Qatar Airways main pillars are India and neighbors.

    • @epic_flightsimmer6340
      @epic_flightsimmer6340 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same I must agree with you, I flew JFK-DEL-HYD and back all on their 77Ws in 2018 and it was actually much better then when I travelled in Etihad two years prior tht. Maybe the crew were not the most friendly as Etihad seems to have a much friendlier crew, but yes I loved the legroom on their economy cabins for someone thats 5'11 it was hard for me to fit in most airlines cabin but not so with Air India and I must the food was the best I've ever had in air, maybe not on the DEL-HYD-DEL sector, they were rlly short flights ( less then 2hrs) esp on a 777-300ER soo it was light snacks, but the ones to the US were amazing but they didn't have a lot of options which I do have to agree with, and same with the IFEs, there are definitely better IFEs out there and Air Indias IFE's were heavily MID. But at the time when I was flying they had decent collections to watch but headphones weren't working. Overalll I must say esp for what I paid in summertime ( tickets to India skyrockets in summer ) the service was really good and so was the flight. I would definitely fly Air India again!

    Another exelent video. I also love this food and I go to tell you a secret 🤫: ( I think that my family and I alone compete with the Chinese for so much rice that we eat, we are also Latinos and without a doubt I prefer this delicious food than than the wester one too) Volviendo al tema, it seems like a great economy class and a lot of opitality, everything like that definitely makes a difference.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice comment Sergio!
      While I don’t mind Western food very much, I do have a limit and during the strict phases of Covid I got there.
      I mostly travelled to Europe and US and just got enough of that Euro food and craved Asian.
      Of course there are Asian restaurants around but it has nothing to do with the real thing like there.
      The worse part is when I had to do hotel quarantines: I spend weeks eating hotel bland roomservice burgers/pizza/pasta😱
      And yes, rice rules, even in my house despite no Asian/Latino background 😁
      See you around!

    Wow, this video is really popular! I rarely watch Eco trip reports, but as it was you and Air India, I thought: why not? And i did not regret, of course:) Well done, good music choice, excellent editing..and a nice sense of humour (i remember in one of my early QR videos i had a similar experience with a guy smiling fron the screen at my seat and i was wondering whether I should really sit down in my seat, hehe) The captain was late, but moving fast:)) The staged welcome was sweet..i do similar things but would never admit they are staged, haha. I also knew that India has a really young population..but was surprised that senior status starts at 18+:)))) Loved the Windows 95 vid:) Also, happy to see you survive a Chenin Sauvignon made in India, hehe..how was it? Still, it was good to see Air India still offers free wine in eco. I would have enjoyed the meal as i love butter chicken and daal, too:) And i had to laugh seeing you doing another one of my
    tricks, on top of the staged welcome: could i possibly have the vegetarian option, too, just for the camera and my viewers? Hahaha. The dentists choice desert looked..well..like the dentists choice desert:))) You really made my evening tonight and i stayed up longer than i should have, hehe. Great video of an amazingly great product with a narrative not only full of interesting details, but also full of humour..well done:))))
