- The Dodo's Executive Producer Joanna Zelman took a road trip with a piglet and a calf 4 years ago. It was one of our favorite stories ever, so we checked back in on them to see if it lasted... ❤️

the sadness of the cow mom watching her baby calf being carried out made me burst into tears.
I lost any desire to see the rest, that just broke my heart🥺
The dairy industry is brutal. This is a rare happy story. Most male calves are killed. Remember that animals are friends not food.
@2:01 Look at the concrete hell these poor innocent cows are kept in!.. and that sad moma!. i keep returning to this video to watch their raw personalities and it breaks me.. they just want to live and get along and be loved. 😢😒
It breaks my heart that dairy farmers have no humanity for these emotional beings just letting their mothers suffer because we need milk we don’t need it.

Wow, I had almost exactly the same thing happen to me. Last year a piglet bounced out of a livestock truck (we live in Iowa) onto the highway then the median strip in front of me. I drove her to a friend's place to live on her horse ranch. She's living her best life.

It was so sad watching momma cow watching her baby being carried away. That was heartbreaking. Other than that this was a beautiful wonderful love story all around.

It was so beautiful to see the calf and the piglet enjoying absolute freedom. The only thing that breaks my heart is that their mothers will never experience that amazing feeling. They will keep confined to their miserable existences. How painful!! Anyway, thank you, thank you for saving their babies and giving them a wonderful life.

Plot twist: the passenger and the driver also fell in love. Founded an animal rescue farm in Savannah, GA, named it "The Calf and the Pig Farm" and lived happily ever after.........
Double plot twist: apparently, she has a husband. This is going to be made into a movie. Suggestions for actors: Gal Gadot for the female lead; Brad Pitt for the male lead and Ed O'Neil for the home-alone husband?
There is a Princess and the Pig Farmer so may end up getting them confused.

The calf watching the sky for the first time ❤😭 it's horrendous what humans do to ANY living beings that can be turned to profit. Thank you for covering this story, it's so important to constantly remind people that animals FEEL all the emotions we do - sorrow, frustration, joy, etc. They deserve our respect. And thank you to all the animal sanctuaries for the endless work they do to provide safety and love to their resident animals ❤
i love it when you show livestock getting rescued, i think more people need to see how full of life they are. they are just as worthy of a long, healthy life than any other pet or animal. thank you for what u do

I absolutely love these 4 fabulous people who gave us this wonderful story with the best resolution ever! (Dodo never leaves you hanging - there's always a great ending even if it's a memory/tribute story about an animal who has lived his best life. Other sites should learn from them)

This is like a barnyard variation of Romeo and Juliet. Eli and Marley aren't from rival families, just very different species. Thankfully, this story has a MUCH happier ending!

I love odd couples, esp both of these cute baby animals! Their inseparable mingling made me smile throughout the entire video. I esp love the piglet & calf's instant love that developed during their long travel -- it's truly remarkable! I also love how much animals possess a warm-heartedness, loving-nature & strong survival spirit. They are truly inspirational! ❤❤❤

I will be going into agriculture at the end of the year (all things go well) and I'm so excited to go and rescue a few male calves, some piglets and a donkey or two to be permanent companions on the farm. I hope I'm able to rehome or facilitate any male calves that come along in my journey as well. I love seeing stories like this.

I made friends with a dairy cow once. But never seen in person a pig or goat. I’ve seen sheep before and petted one and I’ve met donkeys in person. So great that she can meet all these animals.

It's heartbreaking that they have to be 'survivors' in the first place. 😓 Farm animals have no rights at all as they are viewed as commodities, products. A hellish short life and and a violent death awaits them. God bless you for making a difference and saving these babies 🙏
