Arguably? And what about the 90s, with kaiserslautern's incredible win of bundesliga and very incredible Players that made the history of football. Come on.. Denmark euro too.
@worldd777 I mean its probably because you're getting older. Everyone i talk to loves new football and the new players and the style of the game. Back then, it was a lot slower, and less technical. Now, everyone has technical ability, even goalies. The game is at such a high level, that you probably won't get a guy like Ronaldinho, and if you do, then he's just that good. Messi makes all the high level players look dumb, and if you only think about stats when you think of messi, then you're being biased. Go watch some of his best misses, and you'll see things not even Maradona could dream of. Mbappe, Haaland, Sancho, Dembele(if he stays fit), Rodrygo, Ansu Fati, Frenkie de jong, Federico Valverde, Kimmich, Donnarauma, De ligt, Arthur, are part of the new generation of players. And they are all fantastic. If you can't see that, then you're stuck in the past. The game will never stay the same. Maybe in 50 years, we will think of Messi/Ronaldo as plumbers, and the players they play as milkmen, but that will be a testament to how much the sport has gotten better. I will love for that to happen, because it means the level just keeps on rising, rather than staying the same for over 100 years, like something like baseball, where the sport slowly dies, because the athletes havent gotten better and the game stays the same since 1900.
Sad their careers were plagued by CONSTANT comparisons. Everyone has their own opinion but I mean the two are incomparable. Only when they retire will people finally be at peace and look back on the two greatest players to play this game

@@J29394 I said football *could* improve and I never said immediately after Messi and Ronaldo era. And this is definitely not the greatest era by far I'm sorry. I mean in 1994 or 2004 for example, look at how many good teams who have a shot at the Champions League? AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Ajax alongside Barca, Madrid, Juventus, Bayern etc. Never mind numbers or statistics. It's how many top level competitors are there. It has signficantly dropped over the last 20 or 25 years to a handful few sadly.

100% agree. It's an absolute shame how much he seems to have passed in peoples minds despite being one of the greatest of all time to bless the game. The worst part is I make that statement and often people argue as they just have no idea whatsoever. He is an absolute legend of football and ought to be remember by all as exactly that.
4:03 this game really broke my heart. I enjoyed the Season, it was one of the greatest I have ever seen from Wolfsburg. JR Malanda died in a car accident in the last season. You noticed how the team always played for him. The 2-0 victory was one of the greatest things that happend in our clubs history. Sadly we lost the second leg with 3-0 because of a worldclass player named Ronaldo. After the ref blew the whistle after 90 Minutes I was sad but somehow Happy at the same time. I was sad because we got kicked out but I was also happy. I was happy because I was able to see my Favorit club Wolfsburg win the first leg against Real with 2-0 and play for JR Malanda. I will never ever forget that Team and I will never ever forget that season. I wish that I could see this team one more Time. I never noticed how quick time passes. This was in 2016 ago and now we got a completly different Team. We went through different phases in such a short time.... From EL to CL to no international Cup all the way down to relegation playoffs 2 times and now we are back in the EL.... Just crazy 🐺💚

Actually nobody cares abt portugal... The biggest drama moment was 1-7...
I will love for that to happen, because it means the level just keeps on rising, rather than staying the same for over 100 years, like something like baseball, where the sport slowly dies, because the athletes havent gotten better and the game stays the same since 1900.
shout out to the commentators for making this decade more historic
Imagine this video in 10 years.. Showing cr and Messi retirements
football will never be the same without them
Sad their careers were plagued by CONSTANT comparisons. Everyone has their own opinion but I mean the two are incomparable. Only when they retire will people finally be at peace and look back on the two greatest players to play this game
@@J29394 Football could improve without them. It did after Pele & Maradona, Zidane & Ronaldinho etc
@@a.demifemiflapo5795 yes but i think this was the greatest era of football and who you have for the future?
an overrated mbappe?
no one will reach messi level or even ronaldos from the 2020s era
@@J29394 I said football *could* improve and I never said immediately after Messi and Ronaldo era. And this is definitely not the greatest era by far I'm sorry. I mean in 1994 or 2004 for example, look at how many good teams who have a shot at the Champions League? AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Ajax alongside Barca, Madrid, Juventus, Bayern etc. Never mind numbers or statistics. It's how many top level competitors are there. It has signficantly dropped over the last 20 or 25 years to a handful few sadly.
The world cup one almost made me cry that was such a legendary moment and you can only be happy for iniesta
@John de Jong Argentina deserve that cup
@John de Jong it's like a custom now, the dutch qualify to only come second best
And to dedicate the worldcup winning goal to his late best friend, Dani Jarque who became the captain of Espanyol FC a month before his death. To this day Iniesta will always receive a standing ovation at the RCDE stadium despite the two clubs being bitter rivals. Such is the beauty of the game.
Wayne Rooney never got the send off he deserved from Old Trafford.

For most of us, this was our childhood. I remember being 10 years old watching my first World Cup and falling in love with the game.
It’s criminal that there wasn’t a tribute to Kaka at the end
Edit: there also needs to be a Junior Malanda tribute somewhere too. RIP

This is why i love football you just Made me feel so happy and for that i thank you
It was a hard decennium for the dutch people😪

- WC final 2010
- Ajax champions league semifinal

Ajax semifinal of champions league not final but yeah the Dutch teams and especially the national team always has bad luck when it comes to winning major trophies like Euros and World Cups I feel them I hope they win the Euros this year to end all years of hurt and sadness.
Netherlands usually have very good players, they should have had won more finals
And don't forget placing third in brazil world cup 2014 because of a penalty shoot out agains argentine 😔 we are so unlucky
Argentina have been even more unlucky, losing 3 consecutive finals 2014,2015 and 2016
