A lot has changed! we no longer have to sign on to receive our benefit for a start!

in the UK the rules and regulations of "signing and looking for work" are what got me evicted from my home!... long story!

I've always been shocked since the age of 18-21 that there is such a thing as "water rates" - i cant believe we have to pay for water! im surprised the government hasn't found a way to charge us for AIR!

we don't actually pay for the water as such we pay for the infrastructure used to harness, clean, supply and store in safety/hygienically, the rates also pay for foul and sewer water infrastructure. it's same with gas, electric, it's free but without engineers and specialists how do we get it?

Exactly! Charity begins at home! which is why being on benefits should not be deemed as a bad thing. i was on £75 fortnightly when i was 17-21 and because of the governments rules, i was unfairly evicted from my home where i lived from the age of 4 with my mum! I hate that being on benefits has always been deemed as a bad thing and that you apparently need to be employed to be entitled to respect. i refer to the episode "getting off benefits and into work". fact is, not everyone wants to work ad even some of those who do, there is no help from job centres - i.e my case: i want to host my own webcam chat room from home and get paid to talk to people about their problems etc (or whatever they want to talk about)

Charity DOES start at home and i wonder if other countries are benefiting our "Universal Credit????" if so, then this is yet another area the government need to improve on!

It's awful that people are told to put foil under their beds to stay warm...
Politician: " Do you know how degrading it is to have just one servant in winter, and watch Papa chop up a Chippendale commode to warm up five bedrooms, and mama plucking the pheasants for supper??? That's degrading you smelly pleb.".

just researched how much Universal Credit i'd get and i was shocking surprised to learn that i'd get almost £300 monthly!!! I WISH i had giving in receipt of this when i was 18 as i would have never been evicted!!!

People in the UK whom are on benefits shouldn't have to pay rent or council tax!

I LOVE to know how much universal credit (or JSA) i'd get nowadays if i were 17 - 21 ???

I was evicted from from home when i was 21 due to the government and the allowance it was deemed i needed to live on! - £75 fortnightly and i was expected to pay rent, council tax, food, gas, electric, a bus pass to look for work etc. I'll NEVER forgive the government for what happened to me when i was 21.
However, im pleased to say im now on better money, still on benefits mind but better money.
I researched tonight how much i'd get if i was 18 and it stated £292 and the odd monthly. so my question is, WHY wasn't i on £292 a month when i was 18!!!

did you not claim housing and council tax benefits?

All this talk of figures like "50 thousand million pounds". I'm guessing this is because we were still using the British system then, whereas now we have adopted the American system, and that is why we hear so much mention of billions?
