The reason that it’s warming the patient is not because we’re tricking the thermal receptors it’s because of the microcirculation in our face in our hands in our feet any place that there’s not naturally growing hair travels directly to our heart and our bloodstream so it does actually warmest faster to warm the surface of the face hands and feet. I am referencing doctor Andrew Huberman’s podcast on thermal regulation. I love your❤
Can you answer why (I was told by staff after I was fully awake) I freaked out. I was screaming for someone to help me, pulling my gown off, trying to rip out IVs and oxygen mask, and refused to let a man to redress me? I have NEVER reacted that way. I have had several surgeries. This particular time, I just had my kidney removed for PRCC. Papillary renal cell carcinoma
Hi Debra, sounds like you experienced emergence delirium this can occur upon awakening from anesthesia, thankfully it is self limiting and safety is the main focus. If you have a future surgery please inform anesthesia of this past experience. Sorry you, experienced this, it can be traumatizing.
I’m Learning a lot from your videos. New pacu nurse here. Appreciate you. ❤

Can you do a video on arterial line set up, re-zeroing, and blood draws from the line.
Hi Mari, Yes Art-line set up is a great idea! I’ll put it in the pipeline! 🙂
Does rigors exacerbate post op pain?
I feel that if my rigors had been treated faster , I would not have needed as much PACU pain meds
I agree Catherine, yes Rigors should be addressed to maintain comfort post-op.
What is the temperature of recovery room PACU
Usually cool.... each department sets the thermostat .... Truthfully it depends on how many nurses are having a hot flash! LOL ..... Nurse Humor!
