I have this monitor only 2 things that bother me with it is 1. Not being curved (sometimes) while I'm playing games its fine but when I do work the edge seems too far away. 2. The buttons until I get used to them its a bit awkward navigating the menus
I bought one for $400 in the US and it is unbeatable in terms of its value. Using it with MBP 2019 16inch and occasionally play overwatch using bootcamp and I am just so happy. Even for other normal use on Mac OS, 144hz is just so much smoother and 34inch is just amazing!
Here in Malaysia its 420USD and its cheapest IPS with this size and specs. Wish they would have a curved option. Using 27inch 144Hz IPS QHD from Acer and its amazing in every aspect.
Hey man just found your channel and great work, this review helped me out a lot. I’d like to see a review of the Acer Predator X34 GS, it’s a brand new update with a new panel and on paper, it fixes almost all of the problems you encountered here. No one else is reviewing it.
IMO this is the best monitor on the market. Sure there are higher spec 4k monitors but they don't have the immersion this ultrawide offers and 43" screens are not useable in competitive FPS games. I just upgraded from an LG 32" 144hz 1440p and wasn't sure the difference would be that noticeable but it is. Games in 21:9 are far more immersive and this monitor also maintains the high end response rate. It literally makes you go back to all your old games as they are much better with this field of view. I'm running this on a 2080 Ti with Intel i9 10900x and 32GB DDR 4 quad channel RAM and i get 144hz locked on doom and cold war max settings. It's perfect.

No offence to them either, I like the detail they get into, and it's great to see a publication that goes into such detail across such a high number of products.
I watched the whole video but i don't understand the part about g-sync and freesync. Is freesync in this monitor causing input lag, worse response time than g-sync? I've got AMD card and i'm looking for best UW 34' for gaming if u have any recommendation i would love U.
Effectively, these technologies are great for tear-free gaming, and while they don't add anywhere near as much input lag as V-Sync, they'll undoubtedly still be affecting the monitor's input lag (even if it's the smallest fraction), plus they lock frames at say 144hz, meaning you can't have more frames displayed via your GPU. So that's why I leave those technologies disabled. And yes, this would be my top pick for come gamers looking for an UW

Hi, I have this monitor and i'm pretty sure i've been using all the wrong settings for my ps5, I think i'm experiencing input lag with games like Fifa and CoD (which I take rather seriously)... Could you give me the best settings and colour settings to improve fluidity of gaming whilst maintaining the vibrant colours. No other mode or setting gives me the colours and clarity like HDR, but i'm certain the HDR is part of the lag problem. Your help would be much appreciated.
I need help, so i just bought this monitor, however I can't run 144Hz at 3440×1440 resolution, i alrdy went to advanced display settings and Nvidia control panel, there's just no options for 144Hz. I'm currently running it with my MSI GTX 1080ti, using HDMI 2.0 cable (or maybe 2.1 I'm not sure), and unfortunately there's no D.P 1.4 came in with the box. I'm not quite sure how to solve this issue as I've already searched the solutions on the web but no luck. Any clues? Thank you, love the video btw
Glad you liked the video! What you're finding there is probably HDMI limitations (you're probably on v1.4 on your GPU port). Buy yourself a DP cable, presuming your GPU has the port?
I'm looking for the best value for money monitor for my new macbook pro workstation. Therefore I want it to have usb-c and ideally id like it if it can be mounted with a wall or desk arm (this is not really required). For below 250-300 dollars, which monitor would you recommend?
@totallydubbedHD Greetings brother. I need your advise or just your opinion on the UWQHD Monitors. I'm working in Malaysia and I already use Acer Nitro XV272U which is 144Hz 27inch IPS monitor. Perfectly fine with it but need a second monitor to optimize my workflow and here i have 3 options with similar price. Other options with desired specs(UWQHD, 144Hz Freesync) are way more expensive or not available here... So my primary option is Acer Nitro XV340CKP, because its made here in Malaysia, its 3 years local warranty and i already have Acer IPS which works great(with good DP cable) with my Rx6900xt in CS:GO, Forza Horizon4 and etc. Other 2 options are: Gigabyte G34WQC(50USD more expensive but also 3years local manufacturer warranty) and Xiaomi Mi 34 (1 year local supplier warranty). Worry a bit about contrast of Acer but fron the other hand my office room is like a cave and its always low light here so it not a monitor for bright office space where you really need a decent contrast ratio... Thank you in advance.
Hey buddy, not tried the others so can't comment unfortunately - as long as you're aware of the pros/cons of this monitor - I think it should be a good pick :)
Do this monitor support 144hz hdmi or 144hz display port because im going to order it for my ps5 144hz work for hdmi? Will 144hz work for the ps5 hdmi port
Very nice review, I bought a Huawei GT34 for my girlfriend..i couldn't use that in gaming, the smearing is very present..the response time is 4ms so yea, in this price point I think I'll go for this model, there is no other options for a 34 inch ultrawide 1ms IPS... there are only VA options, which are great..contrast is very good (4000:1), 10bit color (on this Huawei only if you use 144hz and not the default 165hz) and the brightness is 350 and it's still not enough for HDR content... so yea I'll try this monitor when i got my salary but you should review GT34 if you have a chance, I think it offers the most in this price point, the response time could be better but..it is what it is :)

I am really interested in buying this monitor but this review from amazon has me thinking. Here is what the review reads briefly "It is a flat screened ultrawide with all the premium features for a not so premium price and that is a very difficult thing to find. However, the premium features are diminished by the caveat of only being able to use 1 thing at a time. Want HDR? no 1ms, freesync or 144hz. Want 1ms? deal with annoyingly low brightness and only 120hz. Want Freesync? no 1ms response or hdr. It's a nice monitor but a little deceptive with the features it advertises. Unfortunately for this price, you cannot have your cake and eat it too so either spend more money or settle for fewer features because you get what you pay for and this simply doesn't deliver on all of its promises like I thought it would." What's your thought on that?
@@TotallydubbedHD Okay. Was that a dumb statement from the reviewer? I use rtings to find monitors and this monitor scored excellently across all categories. Then I saw this comment and I was confused.
@@admin8073 I'd wouldn't say dumb (as he could have points), just doesn't quite make sense. ie. where and why is he mentioning 1ms - referencing overdrive maybe? That doesn't get disabled with HDR, however I can't remember how the monitor does with FreeSync/G-Sync, but as is the case with almost every monitor I've ever reviewed (over 185), when those technologies are enabled, overdrive gets disabled. Also, would suggest watching my review and not relying too heavily on that publication ;)
The title is a bit misleading: poor brightness, color accuracy & constrast, pretty much useless HDR, bleeding. The pros come from low response time and high refresh rate. I would probably look for a monitor witha standard 16:9 TN panel instead of this one. Thanks for the review!

@@TotallydubbedHD well I’ve been using a 32inch 4k monitor for years, and I don’t like it very much for working. I sit pretty close to the monitor and everything on the sides is darker due to viewing angle, so I have to physically move my head over to see what’s there better. I’m a 3D artist so viewing angle is important. I know curved would be much more convenient for working. Cause it’s either I do that, or get a dual monitor setup, but I would prefer one wider monitor so I could also game on it.

Find a good monitor sheap is kinda hard I guess. I wil buy PS5 , but want a monitor 120 hz with 4k for ps5 and PC gaming at same time. The problem is, dont find a good monitor cheaper. PS5 cost 400, oki, I only can pay 200/300 for a monitor. The problem is, when they said ps5 120 hz only work with hdmi 2.1 and I only find monitors with hdmi 2.0 . So i guess I need forget the 120hz for ps5? Its kinda confusing, why ps5 launch a console that 120hz only works with hdmi 2.1 when its so less monitors with that hdmi version? Hmmm dont know what to do, or I buy a 120 hz 4k with hdmi 2.0 (cheaper) for pc and for ps5 I use the same monitor to play only at 60 hz!? Sad --'
PS5 is limited to 4k 120hz/60hz or 1080p 60hz/120hz - the issue is two fold: 1. PS5 only supporting those resolutions, 2. HDMI 2.0 limitations (I wonder why consoles don't use DP for example). HDMI 2.0 is limited, thus it doesn't matter what the PS5 can or can't do nor the monitor - it's the bandwidth limitations; the port - nothing more. Now as for what you're looking for, is 200/300 USD or GBP? Realistically you'd be looking at a 1440p 144hz that can take a 4K signal and downscale to 1440p or a 1080p 144hz. Indeed, you won't be able to achieve 4k 120hz without spending a LOT of money - HDMI 2.1 or not; these panels are expensive.

@totallydubbedHD
Greetings brother.

Here is what the review reads briefly
"It is a flat screened ultrawide with all the premium features for a not so premium price and that is a very difficult thing to find. Unfortunately for this price, you cannot have your cake and eat it too so either spend more money or settle for fewer features because you get what you pay for and this simply doesn't deliver on all of its promises like I thought it would."
What's your thought on that?
My thoughts are: where is this 'no 1ms 144hz HDR etc' coming from lol.
It's catching fire nowadays
I've heard :o
The title is a bit misleading: poor brightness, color accuracy & constrast, pretty much useless HDR, bleeding. The pros come from low response time and high refresh rate. I would probably look for a monitor witha standard 16:9 TN panel instead of this one. Thanks for the review!
Not sure I'd go for 16:9 TN when you're looking at an UW IPS, but sure lol.
Then why did u waste your time watching reviews for an IPS ultrawide when u should be looking at 16:9 TN reviews?
@@sdmvx Look at the title: "ultrawide perfection". I'm looking for an ultrawide, not a TN panel. This monitor is as good as a TN, but stretched out.

@@mindscan420 why is it you really want a curve?
@@TotallydubbedHD well I’ve been using a 32inch 4k monitor for years, and I don’t like it very much for working. I sit pretty close to the monitor and everything on the sides is darker due to viewing angle, so I have to physically move my head over to see what’s there better. I’m a 3D artist so viewing angle is important. I know curved would be much more convenient for working. Cause it’s either I do that, or get a dual monitor setup, but I would prefer one wider monitor so I could also game on it.
@@TotallydubbedHD honestly I would’ve just stuck with my current monitor, but a backlight led burned out and I don’t feel like figuring out how to replace it, it’s an off brand monitor that no longer has any support or information online

@@TotallydubbedHD Thanks. Maybe the better is 4k 60hz - Was thinking baout this: ASUS VP28UQGL (28'' - 4K Ultra HD - 1 ms - FreeSync) good choice? or maybe this one: AOC Q34E2A (ultrawide can be good because My job is doing Video Editing and graphics ) Other monitor: PHILIPS 288E2A (28'' - 4K Ultra HD - LED IPS - AMD FreeSync) - But dont know what is the best to buy...
