hello good morning. I was a fan of your old site. and I remembered that 2 products that cost less than $50 were rated with 4 and a half stars. the 7Hz and another that was white. It's been more than a year. Are they still the kings of the entry range? or have they already been surpassed? thanks for the analysis.
Thanks for the support. Less than $50 not much has changed. But if you can stretch it to $50 then the winners are iBasso DC03Pro or Moondrop DAWN Pro, which you probably can get under $50 if you can find a bargain offer
So it's not a clear improvement of the S9 Pro, more like a "sidestep." That's why your reviews are so invaluable. We currently have a new wave of dongles based on the ESS chips. I hope some more popular stuff from this batch like Shanling UA4 or ibasso DC06 Pro will land in your hands.
Thanks. The way I see it, Hidizs intentionally to make Martha to offer smoother refinement over what S9 Pro already offered, and also they deemed that because more than 80% of dongles usage are focused on IEMs, it makes sense to tone it down a bit and prioritize on IEMs segment, which in this case worked fine as I am getting very satisfying results with planar IEMs, just don't go start using Martha to drive heavyweights like Sennheiser HD650 or Fostex T40RP MK3, lol
I haven't tried BTR7 yet, so it will be hard for me to compare. Perhaps you can try BTR15 which I really like and always recommend to anyone who ask for BT recommendation
Hi Andy, I need your opinion please. I have the Ibasso DC05, DC03 PRO, Questyle M12, Hiby FC6, Moonriver 2TI and Hidizs XO. I would like to taste a different sound signature like AKM. Is the Lotoo Paw S2 really a good premium quality choice like your favorite Centrance HD? Or maybe wait a little, because the recently announced Ibasso DC Elite seems very interesting...
You already have FC6 and XO and even the M12 (with the latest FW), all three of them is what I consider as offering AKM sort of velvety resolution. Regardless of what DAC chips brand, how they are tuned and implemented will determine the final sound, I can tell you Shanling UA3 is AKM through and through, but it does not offer the sort of AKM sound, more like a native ESS Sabre, food for thoughts. So does some other recent implementation of AK4493SEQ which seems to assume the bright non analog sound is what people like, I can't blame them, it is a matter of taste and preferences, and this is not about right or wrong. But if you insist on getting an AKM, and taking Lotoo PAW S2 being the last bastion of true native AKM tuning, then I can say for now we also have Colorfly CDA M1P which I just received today, initial impressions, that CDA M1 does exhibit the same AKM DNA native sound, so perhaps worth to check on that one.
@@donglemadness Thank you Andy for your very informative answer. I just looked at the Colorfly CDA M1P, the price is very attractive! I will wait for your review.
Sir, I am a beginner and I need a smooth, neutral sounding, durable and efficient DAC. Between FiiO - KA13 and Hidizs - S9 Pro Plus Martha, which one you recommend to me ? Please suggest something, if I can go other with same budget range .

Yes it does, I use HIBY Music app 90% of the time. But if you want stable playback, keep to HIBY Music app at version 4.2.1 as the later versions are erroneous with many dongles
TOTL reference is Shure KSE1500, Etymotic ER4SR for DF Neutral, Tanchjim ZERO for Midbass boosted near neutral tuning and Hidizs MP145 for magnetic planars
My observation is, Hidizs chosen to the well known route and it has been proven to be working. S9 Pro after all has been immensely successful for the last 2 years, not because I said it is successful, but because there's already tons of actual users still using it, Martha on the other hand provides refinement over a known formula and that refinement comes with smoother tuning
You are the go-to source for detailed analysis of this branch of tech. Thank you!
My pleasure ✌️
Hi Andy, you are without doubt the most credible source for reviews on mobile hifi equipment. Thank you once again for reviewing.
As always, thanks Marcel. You have a great day there! cheers
Thanks Andy, you too.
Independent volume control is a must. It would've been better had Hidizs included that before its release, rather than an upcoming update
Waiting for the shangling ua4
Soon!
Can't wait to watch the Fiio KA13 review, I always love your contents Andy bro !
Much appreciated!
Great rEview, thank you.
My pleasure

Ah the coveted S9 PRO. This wonderful dongle has the lowest noise floor out of ANYTHING. I want one
Andy will you be reviewing Tempotec BHD Pro?
Once I get it. yes of course
did you reviewed and scored TANCHJIM space dac?
Yes, check my video list and you will find it there
Question, Andy, I see you like some heavy music. Do you listen to any slam??
I am not into slam. I listens to mostly Black Metal, Industrial Metal and mostly obscure bands from the Extreme Metal side

nice review! weird that it is actually worse than the predecesor... but i guess it happens
very good test. do you have any idea of the output impedance for this dongle?
Thanks. I have no information on the output impedance unfortunately
Waiting for the Akliam PD4 PLUS review, does it offer any additional sound benefit from the regular PD4 apart from independent volume? Thanks Andy!
Let's find out when the review is out. Thanks

At the most affordable price, there's $5 Venture Electronics ODO or the $30 FiiO KA11, both would be perfect for music and gaming

And what about AUDIOCULAR - CS46L41.
I like smooth sound. A bit Bassy as well
I already replied this on your other question for Abigail Pro video. CS46L41 lacks resolution, that's what I am certain of

Can you hear the difference in dac filters in moondrop link app?
With highly resolving IEMs like Etymotic ER2XR, Hidizs MP145 and Final Audio A5000, yes, especially on energy pace and decays
Can you hear the difference between a 4.4mm audio jack and a 3.5mm audio jack?
Yes
Would you say this is the perfect partner for the mp145?
There are many perfect partners for MP145, since it is such a versatile IEM, and S9 Pro+ is one them

Really bored of ESS dongles 😅 and in a single configuration. Hidisz is far behind what Akliam, FiiO and other companies are releasing now.

This is the kind of unhelpful subjective hyperbole that helps no one. At least Andy is trying to be consistent and as objective as you can be.
