"Boyfriend Matt" You've never mentioned him before, unless I missed it. Im happy for you both. Matt is dashing😊 I just love how dedicated your parents are to your vision. Love Leah's artwork, she's so talented! Love the room. Absolutely fabulous👌
SECRET DOOR....SECRET DOOR.....SECRET DOOR!!!!!!!!!! The metal items restored to their original finishes look so right. The final look is sophisticated and serene. Home Run!!
I love the way you approach your makeover projects. They evolve naturally and are curated over time so they have depth and soul. The room is gorgeous. Nice to meet Matt. Very handy to have a plant expert on hand!
Taking two years to curate your space is absolutely magical and relatable. Weekend makeovers in a ten minute video are so unrealistic and always look plastic. Thank you thank you thank you for keeping it real. And repurposing. Your end result of patience, time and mindfulness is absolutely stunning 💕
Thank you so much! Yes I agree that rushing to get all the pieces together at one time can look too trendy and/or make me feel stressed! Waiting for the right pieces to fall into your lap is cost effective but also makes decision making much easier 😂
I love that your home will always be a reminder of everyone who helps you, and that will remind you that you are loved. Pretty cool. And the bedroom looks great!
Pocket doors are so underrated. What a great job and to have help from parents and bf is wonderful. Each area of your room is so well curated and pleasing to the eye. Absolutely love the makeover.
Pocket doors are amazing, but can be very difficult to retrofit. You have to have the right space / dimensions / clearance. I think that's the reason why you don't see them more in home renovation. My whole house would have them but they won't fit.😔
@@mdipeace You definitely need the right space too. I would avoid putting a pocket door on a powder room door unless I had absolutely no choice. I wouldn't put one on a bed room door either because of privacy issues. In the right space they are amazing but as you said difficult to retrofit without tearing out walls and starting all over again. I don't think they are underrated though, I think they are misunderstood.
Just chanced upon your channel and already subscribed. You are my kind of guy - most everything I have is either thrifted, up cycled, or curbed (picked up curbside). I moved into my house right before the pandemic and I am still working on making it a home. It's a very slow process but oh so satisfying.
I have no idea why but you haven’t appeared on my YT listing for ages, I thought you had stopped posting. Now I see youve finished your bedroom and it’s magnificent. Also we meet Max your BF. I hope we see more of him in the future. I have a lot of catching up to do but I will watch all your posts, I love your empathetic ideal of reuse and repurpose. I do the same and you always give me ideas. Mine are more restoration of furniture or picture frames or painting furniture and making reproduction antique patchwork quilts to hang or to adorn beds. Congrats on a fab master bedroom from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺! I hope you might remember me!
You have to know how blessed you are to have your dad’s help and experience. I lost my day 15 years ago and each time I have to fix something at our home, I wish so much he was still here. Our house has the crystal knobs!
I can see really see your personality come together in this room. Getting the paint off the hinges, hooks, and doorknobs made a tremendous difference. In case you need to do some more paint from metal removal, get an old crock pot and put them in water with a tiny bit of soap leave to simmer. The paint will slide right off. There are many videos out there with better specifics. Loved this. And the wood snakes are amazing. I need to spenrd more time at the restore. Thanks for sharing..
In other videos I watched, I could t tell how old your house is, but the corner guard trim rising from the tall baseboard tells me 1898-1912. The door and window rosettes and gable gingerbread tell the same story. And then today I saw the OG door knob back plates. Bingo!
Good morning from southeast Georgia. Your bedroom makeover turned out great. And an Ethan Allen bed for $100.00 was an absolute steal! Cleaning the original hardware keeps the vintage quality of your home which is a definite plus! After your tip about Restores giving a senior discount, I went to my closest store yesterday. I found a roll of gorgeous upholstery fabric marked $15.00. I asked the cashier about a discount and got 30% off. So I paid $10.00 for it. Came home and measured how much fabric was on the roll. It was 16 yards plus some large scraps that I didn’t measure. So I only paid 62-1/2 cents per yard. Thank you so much for the advice! Great video!
I started to write something negative, but the more I watched your video, I really enjoyed it, great job everything looked beautiful, I also loved you included your dad and boyfriend, you definitely won me over.
Place the hardware in the crockpot. Cover with water, add a couple of tablespoons of liquid laundry detergent, and turn the heat to medium. Put on the lid and let the contents of the pot cook all night. The next day, the paint will be soft and ready to fall off the metal. I love me a pocket door! My last two houses have had one. They are sometimes a cool necessity.
Of course as with all of your work the “final” product was perfect! Even down to Queenies paw dents in the quilt 😂 “Is a room ever finished?” My answer is while ever we are learning, growing and evolving through life so should our rooms/homes. (Thus the reason why I put final in the quotation marks) It was awesome to see Matt and I think a monthly or even a quarterly plant section in your videos by Matt would be a great addition to your channel and I would like to go so far as to suggest a topic for his first segment, how to seal the top of your yucca so it doesn’t keep growing but the leaves will. 😊 And a little tip for taking old paint off metal items like the hooks or even the hinges if you ever need to take a door down is put them in a slow cooker. I purchased a used one from a second hand store and put my tap fixtures in with a drop of dish detergent on the longest cook session and when they were done and cooled all of the paint just peeled off, a tiny bit of scrubbing in the joints or crevices but it made such light work of the job.
You have a real gift for combining a varied conglomeration of elements and assembling them into a cohesive whole. Your bedroom is a testament to your creativity and imagination. The impression I get is one of balance and a pervasive sense of rightness in every aspect of the design. It's great to meet Matt, the Plant Whisperer. I had no idea yucca sealing was a thing. Who knew?
To take time in developing a space gives me time, to make the right decisions and save money. That's what I like that about your room designs, they grow with you.
Hellou my dearest Andrew, ❤ an other suggestion for the pax-black-question could be to just paint the strip on the front, but nothing on the side. You could test it out with a black stripe of paper or sth. taped onto the area in question and see how it looks. With two photos of both variations side by side you can decide perfectly. 😊 I'm a little bit in love with your Dad's skills and 100% envious!! 😅 And o.m.Goodness is Matt handsome!.. 🙊 Love your channel! (You already know that. 😁) The "finished" room looks amazing!! ❤
This is my first, not last, time watching your bedroom makeover. The detail is wonderful. Your loving family helping in the process makes it perfect. Thank you for sharing.
The ULC transformation, the canopy bed, the fireplace & the pocket door- OH MY LANTA, this is gorgeous! I love the intentionality you put behind this space! And your candor behind how long the process actually takes is refreshing!
I just joined your channel less than an hour ago. Your bedroom makeover is fabulous! I'm a native NYer, and Dude, that bedroom is bigger than some studio or efficiency apartments I've been in! I've always had a green thumb, but I hate to admit, I have killed a few Yucca plants in my day, in different apartments. Succulents, pepperomias and snake plants don't stand a chance with me. 😢 My shade-loving plants are thriving in my current apartment, and it's becoming a jungle in here. A touch of greenery is definitely the way to go, to make a room cozy and inviting.
Love it! Love your style! Love , what I found as an added tip, while painting your door hangers, you screwed in the screws into the box to paint those all at the same time instead of just laying them flat! Makes so much more sense and then you spun the box around to make sure you painted everything evenly! Never thought of doing that so thank you!👍💞✨
Congratulations. Your room is beautiful and every detail is well thought out. The only thing I would suggest adding is some neutral curtains on either side of the window behind the bed frame to add some softness. Great job!!
What you have accomplished is simply fantastic. Since, as you said not everyone has the level of help and design aesthetic that you and your parents have, I would have had to leave the house, in general, the way it was and just have it painted, only making the necessary repairs to items that absolutely need it. I live in an older home, and I, too have those crystal knobs everywhere, as well, I love them. Overall great job. Also, all of the pillows that you made were great, it gives you the option of changing the room decor out whenever you want to.
How fortunate to have parents who have carpentry and construction skills. This is my first video of yours watched. I think you've put together a soothing and attractive bedroom. I like how you transformed that small useless closet. As for the other, I vote secret door!
Repurposed and thrifted items give rooms depth and character that you cannot get from typical boring decor styles repeated by so many so called designers. Keep up the inspirational work. 🎉❤😅
What a wonderful space to start and end your day. You did a very good job of talking through why you made certain choices....but you can't really teach style. Either you have it or you do not. The attention to detail and taste level are exceptional.
You're spot on about re-doing a space over time. The care and attention that go into building a space over time create a personal feel that can't be faked, even with a big budget. The energy of the two spaces is completely different. Give me the personal space every time. And thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who has stripped hinges and door knobs in beautiful old houses, even ones I've rented!
Gorgeous, serene bedroom. I bet it’s beautiful to wake up to. In a future video I’d love to see some beautiful drapes flanking the window. It would frame the bed beautifully and add a softness.
Love it, so warm and welcoming, love the eclectic vibe. Thank you thank you thank you for putting in real plants not the fake ones that seem to be the trend.
Perfect. Elegant and masculine. Warm and peaceful. I appreciate the thoughtfulness and small choices that you put into the design of your spaces, and the fact that nearly every piece is something given a second life.
This was the first REISSUED video I watched, and I immediately became a fan of your channel and your various projects. Tasteful design concepts and meticulous execution! 9:40 -- Those imperfections add character to your lovely old house.
"The long game home makeover" definitely your new slogan! Love it! Love the room as always, ( wish the plant could be one with less spiky leaves , but understand it might be a sunlight issue ) Hope you and Matt end op renovating together , maybe a cute Bed and Breakfast place, so others can stay in your beautiful thoughtful aesthetics. One of your best videos you have found your voice and style! Love for Lisbon
@@REISSUED so glad I wrote my honest comment , before hearing you say in your newest video, that you can doubt your self. Please DON'T, this is your channel :) your vibe attracts your tribe, just be you!! not perfect or conforming to what others think you should be doing. don't believe the hype and dont believe the critic , just create. "Art consists in making others feel what we feel" Fernando Pessoa.. ♥
LOVE the finished product! This turned out fabulous and I’m blown away. I had totally forgotten how much the room changed after the charcoal color on the ceiling. The last minute style choices really pulled the whole thing together. You have got to be so pleased. I hope you keep us posted on the secret door idea (so cool) and the art lamp search (must have). Great vid, great room, great job!
All of your styles and juxtapositions work so beautifully in this room for you. I live in an older house and try to do the same with eclecticism and incorporation of family hand-me-downs, some Bauhaus 2 Your House replicas and vintage/thrifted art and accessories. I like the [monstera, did you say?] clippings on the mantel to represent growth and also to reflect Matt's plant expertise in context of all of the expertise and knowledge you convey to us. Every one of your videos inspires me in some way.
I always love to come back and watch you after I have missed out on your projects for different reasons… you inspire so much. Glad to meet your BF also. You have such a wonderful family and loving life, bravo. What is going to happen when you are completely done? Noooooooooooo.
Sent this vid to my son and husband, to hopefully provide a bit of inspiration to what's possible for bedrooms so they feel more complete, even if they are still evolving. Thank you.
Just watched again. I mean. So, so good. The details really do make it plus the fact you had to work around the ubc and usc closets and bathroom etc and the room is really calming, elegant, cool but timeless.
I remember my father coating the inside of a terracotta pot with melted wax, to retain moisture. Such a beautiful colour too. Your bedroom is warm and cozy - Simply lovely. Your so lucky to have your mom & dad to help you. _Sweet Dreams_ & _Blessings to you and yours_
I’ve only seen a couple of shorts, so after watching your make over, I’m impressed very impressed and subscribed. I love hunting for decor pieces and re using what we already have.
hon! i went down a rabbit hole over the last few days and watched a bunch of your videos and i love. but this one? your amazing feelz about your sponsorship?! i’m in brooklyn and that feeling of sitting in the subway, looking at ads and daydreaming is so universal for us new yorkers. ❤ keep doing what you’re doing, yeah? your channel is only getting brighter and more beautiful. your parents seem like lovely, supportive, and omg, _handy_ people. your home and fashion content is amazing and when you show your heart, your videos shine. okay, maybe that was a lot, but everyone needs some unbridled positivity every once in a while, right? xo
I love it! Andrew, you and Lone Fox are two of my favorites for inspiration, although you make it feel like it's something I could actually do. Just kidding, I don't have your artistic flair, but you just feel like family ❤
The final results are STUNNING! I didnt know how you were going to mesh all those styles in, but WOW did you do it justice! Also hello to Matt, nice to meet him and its always nice having a plant expert 😋 I love the 'goldifly' print in this room, it drfinitely matches perfextly. Cant wait to see what you do with the collage kit ❤✂️
Well done, all your content is so inspiring. A beautiful space. I love that you have your parents to assist you as well. A labour of love. And attention to those small details all add to the beauty of this old house
OMG ❤ so happy to have found your channel. I LOVE your design aesthetic and LOVE how beautifully your bedroom came together. All the special details and touches make it AMAZING.H ow nice to have parents that help and are so good at what they do. Also so nice to have Matt’s input on plants 👍🏻TFS 😊
I love everything about this room - it's so warm cozy and moody. You did an amazing job and I think you met all the design goals you set out to accomplish. Love that sculptural bedside lamp - was that a DIY?
Pocket doors really tickle some “living in a fancy house with secrets” spot in my design brain and are what I think people believe they’re doing when that terrible barn door trend happened a couple years ago. Love it and love your style.
Looks Awesome!! Also, when I'm stripping old metal with paint on it, I use my thrift store crock pot. I mix dish soap in the water and fully emerge the hardware such as hooks and things of that nature and let it 'cook' overnight. The paint scrubs right off in seconds the next day. I believe last time I left it on high for the first few hours then low when I went to bed. Just throwing that out there because its so easy, not messy or stinky.
Oh, how I would love your advice on certain decorating conundrums I'm having! For example, choosing one light fixture over another or how to change an old frame to best compliment one of my paintings. Have you ever considered giving advice from photos that viewers send in? Is your background in interior design or do you just have an eye for it? Love the renovations and upcycling!
Wow, you've really nailed it with this cozy and eclectic space - it's so warm and inviting. The plants add such a nice touch. Matt's plant expertise is awesome! Congratulations on bringing your vision to life!
What a beautiful room! I loved watching you and your parents working together! You design ideas are wonderful. I don't think a room is ever really "done;" that is the fun of decorating and reimagining. Good job!
Hi! I’m a new viewer from India. With the fan and the four poster bed so useful to hang a mosquito net, the room looks straight out of a colonial bungalow, with beautiful, teak wood furniture and artefacts, dark green plants and objets d’art! Of course we need a secret door!
I like how you have taken your time and that the design has evolved over time. So many times people see home improvement shows and see instantaneous results, but real life is not like that. Projects take time and thought. I think you did an amazingt job in achieving the look you wanted. Makes me wish I was living in an older home again. They have such beauty and soul to them.
This is really excellent! What a wonderful human being and a natural born artist Andrew is. Talent just oozes out of him in every project and always results in an unmistakably Andrew style. That's a hallmark of a Designer capable of influencing a whole movement. I ❤LOVE everything about his choices. Bravo! And the camera work has improved as well. I'm so glad we are shown the final results from many angles and can savour the artistry, with nothing out of place. Everything just right. I came across this channel by accident when the kitchen video was suggested to me and I'm glad I've seen other videos and stayed. Andrew is fast becoming my favourite Designer of the year. May you be happy, healthy and successful, young man! What a credit to great parents 👏 👏 ❤❤❤
you have the exact same moulding as we do in our 1892 house. We could not find any reproduction or even salvage so my husband had to go and make the profile himself and then milled it all. What a pain!.....but it's beautiful and it's cohesive throughout the whole house. Love your channel!
It looks amazing like everything u do. It is so nice to count with ur parents' assistance on all your creations and renovations. Love how u make magic with repurpose and thrifted items.
A beautiful blend of old and new. You really have a great eye for what works and what doesn't. Brilliant putting the plant by the mirror which makes it look even more lush. I've got to remember that trick! I started following Flanzella after discovering her work on your channel and have one of her prints. I'm hooked on making collages now 😄.
If at some point you decide to jettison dancing/choreography, you could easily transition to high end interior design. What a fertile field Atlantic would be, if you would choose to remain in the area or an urban area comparable to NYC. What you have done with thrift items plus intensive work reveals your eye for the elegant, the whimsy. Good luck for future endeavor money and emotionally-wise.
It looks incredible, only idea I have would be find a shallow cabinet at the ReStore and install it above the shoe closet for some of your storage from the medium closet. It will truly make that cabinet disappear. Great job! I think your space is beautifully quiet.
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful space!! You and your family did such a lovely job of really pulling everything together and making it not only cozy and collected over time… but also making it fit your needs!! Sooo well done!! I just love it!! Great job sweetie!

This was the first REISSUED video I watched, and I immediately became a fan of your channel and your various projects.
Tasteful design concepts and meticulous execution!
9:40 -- Those imperfections add character to your lovely old house.
Hey thanks Paul!
🤎it, old worldly charm with hint of modern
"The long game home makeover" definitely your new slogan! Love it!
Love the room as always, ( wish the plant could be one with less spiky leaves , but understand it might be a sunlight issue ) Hope you and Matt end op renovating together , maybe a cute Bed and Breakfast place, so others can stay in your beautiful thoughtful aesthetics. One of your best videos you have found your voice and style! Love for Lisbon
Such kind thoughts! I always appreciate your thoughtful comments ❤️
Thanks Lisa! ❤️
Thanks Laurie! Always new projects to do so don’t worry about us running out! 😜
Sent this vid to my son and husband, to hopefully provide a bit of inspiration to what's possible for bedrooms so they feel more complete, even if they are still evolving. Thank you.
I’m so glad you found this inspiring enough to share! Thanks for watching ❤️
Just watched again. I mean. So, so good. The details really do make it plus the fact you had to work around the ubc and usc closets and bathroom etc and the room is really calming, elegant, cool but timeless.
You’ve outdone yourself on the bedroom. Absolutely lovely. ❤
Marvelous room. With so much soul. Details are everything. Well done. 😊
Aw I’m so glad you enjoyed this! Thanks for subscribing!
The small changes (and sometimes the most difficult) make such a big difference - hinges, handles, closet threshold, keyholes etc. Great job!
Thank you thank you thank you for the oil based primer tip for knots that bleed through latex primer!!!!!
hon! i went down a rabbit hole over the last few days and watched a bunch of your videos and i love. but this one? your amazing feelz about your sponsorship?! i’m in brooklyn and that feeling of sitting in the subway, looking at ads and daydreaming is so universal for us new yorkers. ❤ keep doing what you’re doing, yeah? your channel is only getting brighter and more beautiful. your parents seem like lovely, supportive, and omg, _handy_ people. your home and fashion content is amazing and when you show your heart, your videos shine. okay, maybe that was a lot, but everyone needs some unbridled positivity every once in a while, right? xo
your parents are so wonderful to help you with your makeovers. your bedroom is beautiful !!!
I love it!
Andrew, you and Lone Fox are two of my favorites for inspiration, although you make it feel like it's something I could actually do.
Just kidding, I don't have your artistic flair, but you just feel like family ❤
Aw thank you so much! I always love seeing your comments ❤️
Thanks Leah! Your piece adds so much as a focal point in the space 😍 Thank you so much for sending it my way ❤️
Well done, all your content is so inspiring. A beautiful space. I love that you have your parents to assist you as well. A labour of love. And attention to those small details all add to the beauty of this old house
So cute that you have a vibe for all the old items from your house!!
Love it and love your style.
love the orb alarm clock
That looks FREAKING AWESOME!!!
Incredible room. You are a talent that is masterful! Bravo!
A very warm, masculine bedroom. Priceless!❤
Stunning
Thanks for the feedback! It’s helpful to hear that things are progressing well both in design and video production. ❤️
you have the exact same moulding as we do in our 1892 house.
Stunningly beautiful... Watching your space evolve over time with such amazing vision and eclectic pieces is a reality I love. You nailed it x
I just love watching the progress of re-inventing your home. Amazing ideas. Also, it's so nice to have your mom, dad, and Matt there to help❣💞
Wow, gorgeous bedroom. Well worth the wait because it’s come together beautifully. Really like the dark ceiling. Very elegant.
Nice job!
I love this room and I especially love that it took time to accomplish it. You normalized the process. Thank you!
Swoonworthy! I just love it. It's a room to live in and love. Definitely a place to relax and retreat. Thank you!
I love your home is curated not just decorated! Love your style.
Awesome job! So sweet of your parents helping. It’s wonderful.
Farken awesomely KOOL ❤
