Girlie, you don't need to apologize for the delay. You were on vacation and then got sick. I hope you're feeling better and thanks for the usual great content! 😊
Dude I had nooooo idea that people loved it. I hadn’t spoken to anyone about it, this is tripping me out. Me and my husband felt the exact same way. I’m so confused
Emma, Happy New Year! 🎉 I honestly love to hear about the non-horror you watched on these monthly wrap-ups because I can get some ideas on what non-horror stuff to watch since I’m watching 99% of horror content. 😂 You may have done it before, and I’m just spazzing out, but seeing a list of top horror shows/mini-series would be fab! I feel like I’ve seen way more horror movies than shows/mini-series, and i feel like you would be a great source for that! 🫶
You really did have a hodgepodge of movies in December. Finally happy you watched one of my favorite movies The Intern. I can't believe it's a decade old already.
His Three Daughters, I kinda saw accidentally. 5000% not my kind of movie and I felt like I was supposed to be more sad, but I really just felt hollow. Solid acting though.
didi is so good, didn't think i'd relate to it at first cause it's about a bunch skater kids but where the story went hit home a bit more, they captured being a teen boy in that era well
The Hunger Games NEEDED narration. I was mortified after taking my dad to the film after reading the book. the movie is ONLY about kids unaliving each other, nothing else comes across.
Bruh my siblings and I loved the new Sonic movie. We're late 20s, early 30s. Perhaps you just didn't grow up playing Sonic? I thought Jim Carrey killed it too. It was a funny movie.
I think Wiig and Ferrel are just HUGE fans of Lifetime movies and really wanted to be in one apparently. I remember when it came out and it was leaked that they were starring in it but they were trying to hide that and let it surprise people 😆 What a wild month. I loved Vengeance. I couldn’t make it past ep 2 of Perfect Strangers, not for me despite the presence of Jack Reynor. Hundreds of Beavers was in my top 3, I find it delightful every time, but certainly the two times I saw it at the cinema with a big crowd were the most fun. I might be the only person that wasn’t horrifically offended by Unfrosted. I didn’t think it was great but I think it was watchable enough. Mainly I think I was marvelling at the production design and the supporting cast.
You watched a film with Taron Egerton but not Blackbird?! Jkjk I enjoyed Carry On too. Love Taron and Jason Bateman. And I love anything with Bill Hader!! Oh Emma my heart!! I loved Sonic 3. It's one of my fave films of 2024. But I am a huge Sonic fan lol
Awww I have a real soft spot for Noelle - mainly for the inclusion of Bill Hader of course, but it is just so silly and cute. I didn't get to it again in 2024 but have watched it twice and will probably revisit it again next Christmas 😅
I'm glad I was able to see Woman of the Hour and Anora before December ended, and started January (aside from Nosferatu) with Sonic 3 and A Real Pain, both of which I enjoyed fine. I liked the first two Sonics as fun, light-hearted romps, and the new movie delivered just that. Not a top 10 or 20 contender, but nowhere near garbage. A Real Pain was a solid dramedy, though Kieran Culkin does at times go too overboard for his own good, I find. Still, it had quite a moving story, and the opening and closing frames were poignant.
Apologies if you have already mentioned this in a disturbing films video, but have you seen the films of Catherine Breillat? Specifically Fat Girl (2001). I think this would be right up your alley, Emma. It's a shocking, brutal, complex, piece of feminist cinematic terrorism. In my opinion a 5/5 stars perfect piece of art. It really sticks with you and leaves you thinking. Breillat is associated with New French Extremity. Also watch Romance, and Anatomy of Hell if you like Fat Girl. All on Criterion Channel rn.
@@filmfangirls9163 just recently watched it for the first time, and was blown away. Immediately thought of Emma's love of disturbing films would love a video on her films as there isn't a ton out there.

Thanks for the monthly recap, Emma. As someone who enjoyed the first two Sonic films, I will admit that the third film was a letdown. Is it possible to get too much Jim Carrey? This was not the best December for films that I saw, though I did cheat a bit rewatching classics like "The Third Man:" (1949) and "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" (1990). I also did see "Carry-On" (2024) and I really enjoyed it. Director Jaume Collet-Serra has been making quality thrillers for twenty years now, his first being "House Of Wax" in 2005.
Emma, I just saw an A24 from a few years back that I somehow missed, called The Death of Dick Long. don't think i've seen you discuss it, and i feel like you would have a lot to say about it!! def one of those "go in blind for best impact" movies. p.s. i love that you watched Doubt, it's in my top 10 movies ever! Meryl Streep's final scene always makes me sob.
Enjoyed Sonic 3! Sonic 3 is so peak than Nosferatu over the third act. Yes, I know I sound like a hot take here but come on I born from the 2000s era! Live and learn 🎸 🦔🦔🔥 Eggman dance scene felt off to me.
The problem with Carry-On is that the director keeps making the same movie. A man being told what to do by a mysterious villain and it's a race against time to stop some type of bomb on some form of transportation. He's done it at least twice with Liam Neeson already. I wish he just cast Liam Neeson again and had him play the exact same character Taron Egerton played. Just an old Irishman playing a 28 year old American. At least it would have been funny.
Okay I see everyone is mad about the Sonic slander lol funny thing is I grew up playing Sonic. It was my first game on Sega genesis. Didn’t think at my age I would enjoy it. But the way people acting makes me want to watch all 3 now 😂😂😂

I agree with you on Sonic 3 with the plot especially in the middle. I liked it a bit more than you cause I thought the ending was pretty strong. But that middle part pissed me off and I couldn't really articulate why but I'm glad I'm not the only one cause everyone I saw the film with loved it!
